Let's Squander A Billion First!-Chapter 1622: Visitor from Beyond (9)
Lou Xing removed the needle himself and lay down for another hour, finally hearing the sound of the door being moved.
He turned his head to look toward the doorway, and a tall, burly man appeared in sight.
A stranger’s face...
"You’re awake?"
The man looked a bit surprised, and displayed some odd expressions, muttering softly, "They said you might not wake up, right?"
Lou Xing: "..."
It wasn’t soft; he heard it all!
Lou Xing asked calmly, "Who are you?"
The man did not answer him but turned and left.
Lou Xing: "???"
Three minutes later, the man returned with a young girl. The young girl walked in front, her face quite delicate and beautiful, but expressionless and distant.
Behind them followed a doctor and a nurse. The previously empty room was instantly crowded with these people, making the space feel cramped.
The doctor and nurse made a fuss over Lou Xing.
"If you’re awake, there’s nothing much to worry about." After the examination, the doctor said to the young girl, "Just focus on recovery."
Chuzheng nodded and asked Brother Hui to send them out.
The door closed with a ’click’, leaving only Chuzheng and Lou Xing in the room.
"Who are you?" Lou Xing stared at Chuzheng, with caution and suspicion in his eyes.
"The one who saved you." Chuzheng walked to the bedside, leaning slightly to look at him, her eyes gently flickering with a dark gleam: "You should thank me."
Lou Xing: "..."
Lou Xing remembered he was indeed injured; that he was still here...
The likelihood of being rescued was very high.
But who is this young girl?
Lou Xing suppressed the doubts in his heart: "Thank you for saving me. Could you please notify the Special Operations Group..."
The young girl took out a piece of paper and unfolded it: "To send you to die?"
Lou Xing’s gaze landed on the paper, on which his arrest warrant was clearly written.
Lou Xing stared at the warrant, not reacting for a long time.
How could this... happen?
The young girl flicked the paper, and the crisp sound spread throughout the room: "They’re everywhere outside looking to capture you now. I saved you, not for you to send yourself to die."
The man’s face lying on the bed was already pale, and now it grew even whiter, the color seeming to drain from his lips.
His lips trembled, and he asked hoarsely, "When... did this happen?"
Chuzheng: "Three days ago."
Lou Xing: "I’ve been asleep for three days?"
Chuzheng: "To be precise, five days."
Lou Xing didn’t expect he’d been asleep for so long and that he’d wake up to a warrant.
-
Lou Xing.
Highest Executor of the Underground City Special Operations Group.
This position accesses the very heart of power, a sword in the hands of the powerful.
But because it is too sharp, it is envied and framed.
After Lou Xing was framed, he couldn’t clear his name, eventually turning to darkness, almost overturning the entire Underground City.
When Chuzheng found Lou Xing, it was just as he was initially framed.
To prevent him from darkening, either imprison him or help clear his name.
However...
The second option is such a hassle.
It’s more convenient to just lock him up.
Lou Xing didn’t know that the young girl who saved him was thinking such thoughts. Although suspicious of Chuzheng’s intentions, she did save him after all, and Lou Xing’s attitude remained reasonable.
Lou Xing’s injury healed particularly quickly, and within a few days, he was already able to walk.
Chuzheng pushed the door open and came in, seeing Lou Xing standing by the window, looking down.
Besides being more aesthetically pleasing than District 3, District 2’s buildings were generally clean and bright, but the architectural style was no different—a crisscross of horizontal and vertical with all kinds of bridges in between.
At the moment, outside was nighttime, and under the lights, it looked like a magical scene from a movie.
Chuzheng glanced around the room, the bedding neatly folded, and even the items on the side were neatly arranged.
These days, Chuzheng also noticed the Good Person Card seemed to have OCD...
Before, maybe he couldn’t move, but since he could move, his clothes had never been out of place, and even his bedding looked as though it had been ironed.
"Eat something."
Chuzheng called out.
The man by the window turned around.
The man was wearing comfortable home clothes, without a trace of rumples, the fragmented light falling on his golden hair, casting a light halo.
Exchanging the somber, cold combat attire for this, the man now seemed more cultured, elegant, and distinguished.
Lou Xing sat by the table, placing his hands on his legs, in a perfectly standard official seated posture.
"Thank you for looking after me these days, I haven’t had the chance to ask for the young lady’s name."
Lou Xing indeed hadn’t asked, but he had heard the tall man call her.
Chuzheng laid out the items: "Chuzheng."
Lou Xing said formally, "I’m Lou Xing, Lou like in platform, Xing like in clouds and water."
"Mhm."
Chuzheng signaled him to eat.
Lou Xing arranged the scattered boxes of Chuzheng in order, even arranging the chopsticks properly before taking them.
Chuzheng: "..."
You’re going to pick it up anyway; why bother?
Just before moving his chopsticks, Lou Xing paused, his ink-dyed pupils looking at Chuzheng: "Aren’t you eating?"
Chuzheng lounged casually in the chair: "I’ve already eaten."
Lou Xing took a glance at the food before him, in the resource-scarce Underground City, having fish, meat, and vegetables, such a meal was considered top-tier.
"Since you’ve eaten, why buy so much?"
"You can’t finish it?"
Lou Xing nodded.
"Let Ah Hui eat later." Chuzheng said indifferently, "Eat as much as you can."
Outside, Brother Hui, munching on a chicken leg, sneezed and then burped.
Inside the room, Lou Xing divided the dishes into two portions, and Chuzheng watched him eat like it was art, feeling a twitch in her heart.
Lou Xing ate quickly, making no sound, even when the chopsticks and bowl touched, it was silent.
After he ate the last grain of rice in the bowl, Lou Xing set the bowl and chopsticks down, aligning them: "Thank you, it was very good."
Polite and distant.
Chuzheng looked at the remaining half of the dishes, feeling a bit complicated.
The Good Person Card ate too little, right?
Ah Hui could devour the whole lot!
Chuzheng called Brother Hui in to take them outside and eat.
Brother Hui: "..."
Burp—
He was full!
Brother Hui glanced at Chuzheng and Lou Xing, wisely taking the items away.
Chuzheng added from behind: "Call the doctor over."
"Okay."
After Brother Hui went out, it wasn’t long before the doctor and nurse came.
Lou Xing cooperated well with their examination.
"Recovery is excellent..." The doctor was somewhat amazed, sighing, "Official Lou’s physical condition is truly good; for others, survival itself would be questionable."
Lou Xing’s eyebrows twitched slightly.
These days, the doctor and nurse had been coming in and out, only talking about his injuries, not anything else.
He thought they did not recognize him...
Now it seems, they absolutely knew who he was.
