Legendary Beast Master: Starting with Contracting SSS Rank Dragon-Chapter 48: The Relic of Nyraxx
Chapter 48: The Relic of Nyraxx
The Apocalypse brought down on any world was meant to destroy it, and corruption was its main weapon with the Corrupted Creatures as their army.
Kael had fought thousands of Corrupted Creatures in his past life, so how could he not recognize the signs of corruption from her?
’Did the Apocalypse already come for this world? Are these the signs?’ he wondered. ’Or was there corruption even during the Fourth Epoch, and Tharnyx just threw one of the Corrupted monsters here to work as a Spawner?’
It was possible, but he also guessed that she could be one of the people who entered the Labyrinth in the Fifth Epoch, just like that person five hundred years ago.
The only problem with this was that she was a Nyraxx, meaning she came under the beasts, and they weren’t allowed in the Labyrinths.
He shook off those thoughts and circled around the giant form of the mother spider. Others were also curious, so they began to check on the Nyraxx.
"Master, I found something."
Kiona shouted from the other side, so Kael went toward her. She was standing behind the mother spider, looking at the fractured wall using her flames.
On the wall, he could see many scratch marks, which were actually the letters of Eldria, the common language that everyone in Eldryn spoke.
Even beasts who learned speaking after some Evolution automatically learned this language, which was once again a mystery that many wanted to uncover.
He stood beside her and read the paragraph.
"My name is Relai, and I’m from the Northern Nyraxx Tribe. I encountered a strange object and began to hear ravings and insanity along with hunger that began to seep into me. Recognizing the signs of corruption, I decided to kill myself, but that seemed impossible."
’So, she has some sanity left. Guess corruption isn’t an instant kill machine for some,’ Kael thought and continued reading.
"I can see my future. I’ll be nothing more than a Corrupted Nyraxx who will birth many corrupted spiders that will roam the world. I don’t want that to happen to my children, so I wanted to kill myself. I found a way for that. Before that, I wanted to give the relic to my clan, but before I knew it, the madness brought me here to the Labyrinth."
Kael’s eyes narrowed reading the last part. ’So, does that mean when she became corrupted, her identity changed from beast to Corrupted Creature, which allowed her entry into the Labyrinth?’
"So, whoever is reading this, please show mercy on this dying mother and give the relic back to my clan. It is of no use to you as only we can use it, but it will surely bring you the friendship of my clan. The relic is in my seventh leg in the shape of a human hand, and my clan lives at the base of Mount Ehul, the sixth mountain in the..."
The paragraph ended with the address. With that, Kael turned to look at the mother spider and felt pity along with respect towards her.
Killing oneself is never easy, and this mother spider committed suicide just so that she didn’t become a monster who birthed abominations.
Alas, the corruption worked in bizarre ways. It had taken her dead body and turned it into a spawner. It really was a cruel fate that befell her.
Kiona was much more affected by the writing, as her instincts as a woman resonated with the mother spider’s emotions. Even she didn’t want to end up in such a state.
Kael let her calm her emotions and asked, ’How to kill her properly?’
He knew Alpha had been analyzing the mother spider for a while, so she must have discovered some things.
[It’s very easy. The only reason she hadn’t fully died is because the Labyrinth reset her in every cycle before it could completely birth all the children. That triggers the rebirth.] freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
"So, we just need to kill all the Threadlings so that we can expose her core and destroy it?" Kael guessed and deliberately didn’t use the term children.
[Yes. Once the core is destroyed, then there would be nothing to trigger the rebirth during the Labyrinth reset.]
’What if we destroy the core right away?’
[That wouldn’t work since she hadn’t completed her duties and thus would be resurrected by the Labyrinth.]
Kael took a deep breath and nodded in understanding. He turned to Kiona and said, "Do you want to give her peace?"
Kiona silently nodded.
"Then, we have two options," Kael said. "First is that you clear all the Threadlings and then we destroy the core to give her peace. Otherwise, we can leave this to Seth and Jon."
Kiona understood the meaning behind his words. He wanted to let them kill the Threadlings so that they rank up, while the two of them would explore the rest of the floor.
She bit her lips, as she didn’t want to choose the second option. It seemed too cruel for the mother spider, as her children would continue to get slaughtered for others’ benefits.
"They aren’t her children anymore," Kael said in a cold voice as he looked at the Threadlings walking out of the mother spider. "They’re just a bunch of abominations crafted from her essence by the corruption."
Kiona took a deep breath and said, "We will follow whatever you choose, Master."
Kael smiled hearing that. Technically, he didn’t need to ask them since they were his subordinates, but he remembered how Kiona wanted to leave all the tough decision-making on him.
While he didn’t mind doing that, he felt that it might affect her judgment in critical moments, so he tried to ask for her opinions in these kinds of matters.
He then went forward, where the twins were inspecting the Nyraxx after slaying the Threadling. He said, "You two will stay here and continue to kill the Threadlings to rank up until there are none left. Once you sense that, destroy the core. Also, cut the seventh leg and take out the relic from it. It’s important for us."
Seth bowed his head, and Jon laughed out loud, "Thanks, Master. With this, I’ll become a proper D-Rank Beast and will be able to help you more."
Kael nodded at them and gave a last glance at the massive spider. He wondered if he should take her corpse outside to give a funeral, but her body might still contain remnants of corruption.
It would be bad if he took corruption outside.
He sighed and gestured for Kiona to come with him. Then, the two of them left the cave with no one speaking. He understood her feelings and was thinking of doing something to calm her.
Surprisingly, she calmed her mind all by herself and bowed before Kael once they were outside. "I am sorry, Master. I hesitated and couldn’t make a decision when you asked me for one."
Kael chuckled and patted her head, "Don’t worry about it. I asked for your opinion, but ultimately, I will be the one to decide what I’ll do. You just need to keep your brain working because I intend to give you a high position with responsibilities."
Kiona’s eyes brightened as she smiled, "I’ll do my best, Master."
