Legendary Awakening: Strongest Class In the Apocalypse-Chapter 50: Please be fast enough
Even though he was in a state of profound shock, still he couldn’t allow anyone to insult him, much less someone like Zerin.
"Damn you, vixen... why don’t you hold it back for me, so that I can run..."
Xavier had barely turned around and started running to create a sizable distance between him and the undead chimera when the monster’s titanic frame moved. Contrary to its size and how it was just botched together from pieces of slaughtered goblins, the chimera’s speed was incredible.
Roar! It let out another roar, seemingly angered by Xavier’s act of running away. The elves who were running to safety heard the roar and felt their hearts shake.
"In the name of Mother Gaia, what is that monstrosity!" Lirin had both of her hands clenched together in front of her chest in a prayer.
She prayed for Laplace Village’s safety with all sincerity, but at this rate, her sincerity alone might not be enough!
The few high-ranking elven soldiers and Prince Sunark looked at Princess Evelyn with complex ooks in their eyes.
Sunark’s fists clenched and unclenched multiple times, a complicated look in his eyes, a strong feeling of relief washing over him watching that undead chimera’s mountainous figure.
If he hadn’t listened to his older sister and continued fighting, his fate...!
Sunark face turned dark as coal, he shook his head to rid of the thought.
...
"Where did he go...?" Millie’s crystal-clear eyes moved through the crowd of people looking for one figure, but the man she was searching for was nowhere to be found.
Jackie, who was resting on a simple wooden bed after receiving the treatment, noticed her anxious gaze and realized whom she was searching for.
Just as she was about to open her mouth to speak, the wound on her stomach suddenly flared. For a very brief moment, a dark, sinister aura seemed to sweep out of the open wound.
This sudden change forced Millie’s focus to shift back to Jackie. Hurriedly moving to her, she asked with a worried look,
"What was that just now? Everything okay, Jackie?"
Jackie’s face was pale as paper; she could only grit her teeth and nod her head.
Millie, however, wasn’t that stupid. She noticed things were not looking good.
With a serious look on her face, she said, "You are not okay, Jackie. I can’t bear to watch my friend suffer like this. Just wait here while I call Bloodmancer Thalia. I am sure she will definitely help you."
Jackie’s mouth parted but no words came out. She wanted to say something, but the pain made it difficult for her to speak.
Without saying anything more, Millie ran off to call Bloodmancer Thalia.
...
Outside Laplace Village.
Bang! The chimera’s giant hand hit the ground like a divine hammer, causing the ground to splinter. Spiderweb-like cracks spread in every direction. The few poor goblins who happened to get close were blasted into meat patties, blood and pieces of flesh flying in every direction. These fleshes were soon caught by undead energy threads and were swiftly merged with the chimera’s figure to strengthen it. Xavier had watched in real time as the chimera grew from fifteen to roughly twenty feet in height.
The monster was practically a two-story building that could move as fast as a horse.
Its punches were as fast as lightning. Before Xavier could even react, the punches were directly right on top of his face. The air displaced by these punches alone was enough to almost send him flying.
Spatial Axis Shift! Xavier used the skill repeatedly. Although it could not completely reverse the trajectory of the punch, it slowed the punch down enough for him to dodge safely.
However, before he could even blink, the chimera’s second punch was atop him, moving with even faster speed.
Xavier gritted his teeth and used the Spatial Axis Shift again and again. For the first time since the apocalypse arrived, he felt a sense of exhaustion wash over him. Not physical exhaustion but something deeper, the mental strain from the overuse of mana.
Although he could not see any way out of this, Xavier didn’t panic but remained cool-headed. Thousands of possibilities to save himself out of this flashed through his head.
No, they are not possibilities but a new reality that could exist. Think hard.
Xavier could only jump around like a monkey, avoiding the chimera’s punches just by a hair’s breadth, not daring to attack.
After all, as a Deathwill class holder, his attacks were meant to execute. If the execution failed, the excution would drop to zero, so there was no need to explain what would happen if the execution failed.
Bang! Wherever the chimera’s punch landed, the earth trembled like a war drum. Maybe as if adapting to Xavier’s fighting style or something else, to Xavier’s shock, he could see another sickly joined hand growing atop the monster’s head.
Xavier’s eyes widened in shock. "You gotta be kidding me!"
He was already having trouble managing the punches thrown by two hands. If another hand was added to the equation...
Things were going to get real bad, real soon.
Xavier gritted his teeth, pouring every single drop of mana into Spatial Axis Shift.
Left became right.
However nothing seemed to be changing.
In the end, Xavier took a deep breath and barked out loud.
"Zerin, help me! Kill as many goblins as you can..."
"Are you out of your mind? Do you really think killing these goblins would help us?!"
Xavier’s expression turned frigid. "Zerin, now is not the time for arguments. Just do as you are told. Don’t force me to remind you who is the master in this relationship."
Those words were like a sharpened knife that immediately made Zerin’s mouth snap shut.
"Damn fucking it...!" Zerin exploded furiously. She couldn’t understand what he was trying to achieve. Not only would this stupid human die because of his stupidity, but he would also take her with him.
But in the end, she could say nothing to convince Xavier otherwise, so she could only do as she was told and jump toward the horde of goblins.
Xavier looked at her actions from the corner of his eye and just silently prayed in his heart, Please, just be enough.
