Chapter 40: Tormenting Zerin

That rich son of the Morgan family had been harassing Lina. Incredibly furious, Xavier had to teach him a lesson by breaking his nose. That was how he ended up in jail.

Attempted murder and other ridiculous charges...! The list was long and endless, Moran family had spared no expense in turning him life into living hell.

It was only then Xavier realized when power speaks everything else falls silent.

"Thank God she’s not here."

Xavier sighed loudly after not spotting Millie inside. Without wasting any more time, he started showering.

He was a cold-shower guy. The feeling of cold water sliding down his body calmed his tensed nerves and helped him relax.

With the help of scrub, he did best to remove all the grim and dirt away, although he did his best, there were spots he couldn’t reach—like his back.

Thinking of something, he decided to call his faithful familiar.

"Come out, Zerin. If you’re done feasting your eyes, wash my back."

Xavier merely said these words on a whim, but who would have thought Zerin would actually respond.

"It’s not every day that you get to witness a legendary class holder naked. How could I miss this?"

Following those words, the space rippled slightly as if a portal to another world had opened. Zerin’s figure, still dressed in the same one-piece dress, emerged from it, her long black hair almost brushing against the wet tiled floor.

She looked as devastatingly beautiful as the first time when he saw her.

Xavier only snorted when he noticed the sharp killing intent hidden in her gaze.

How could Zerin not be angry? She was a proud Seventh-Sequence Abyssal Queen, yet now she was being ordered around like a maid by a non-evolved human, no less.

Just how infuriating could this situation get?

If she could, Zerin wanted nothing more than to butcher this shameless guy piece by piece, feeding him to dogs.

"Get moving. I don’t have the whole night to stand under the shower. I need to sleep as well."

He said while yawning, enjoying every moment of Zerin’s torment.

As a familiar, Zerin had very few options.

Gritting her teeth, she had no choice but to start scrubbing Xavier’s back.

Xavier stood under the shower with his eyes closed when he suddenly felt a surge of electricity course through his body the moment Zerin’s soft hand made contact with his muscular back.

He resisted the urge to suddenly move away. That soft tickling feeling—the electrifying sensation—was unbearable.

But just to annoy Zerin more, he gritted his teeth and endured it.

With his mind focused, Xavier stood under the shower for one full hour without moving an inch.

By now he had even gotten used to the tickling sensation.

With a beautiful demonic maiden massaging his shoulders, He was having the best time of his life.

Compared to him, Zerin’s face was dark as charcoal. A vein had popped on her forehead. She looked like a ticking bomb ready to explode at any moment.

Although Xavier wanted to continue playing with her, after some time he stepped out of the bathroom.

Bullying someone was only fun if you gave them time to recover. He needed to give Zerin hope that the torment was ending to make it more enjoyable later.\

He couldn’t allow her to get numb to it.

While thinking about all this, he soon moved to the remaining bedroom and immediately went to sleep after lying on the king-sized bed.

He slept soundly.

Some might say it was reckless to sleep without caution in foreign territory.

Although the elves were acting friendly for now, who knew what their real intentions were?

Xavier was aware of this.

But he could sleep peacefully because of Zerin’s presence.

In times of danger, she would have to protect him whether she liked it or not.

After all, because of the familiar contract, their fates were tied together.

Xavier slept like a horse, barely moving, waking only when he heard someone knocking on the door.

"Hey, wake up! Princess Evelyn is waiting for you outside."

Although Xavier wanted to continue sleeping after this night—his first proper sleep in months—the bedding inside the prison had been anything but comfortable.

"Damn it..."

Xavier cursed while getting up. If possible, he wanted to sleep for days, but he had bigger goals to chase.

"Wait five minutes. I’m coming."

...

Outside the villa.

Princess Evelyn stood waiting with a smile on her face. She had changed her battle attire. Now she was dressed in a golden royal gown with her long green hair flowing freely behind her.

She wasn’t alone.

Jackie and Millie were already ready. Especially Millie—there was a hint of resentment on the petite girl’s face.

Compared to Jackie and Xavier, she hadn’t slept at all.

Dressed in an Adidas tracksuit, her gaze repeatedly moved toward the large wooden door, waiting for Xavier to come out.

"Big sister, should I go in and drag that human out? How can he be so disrespectful and make you wait like this?"

Princess Evelyn’s younger brother, the proud elven warrior from earlier, Prince Sunark, said those words in a slightly furious tone.

Instead of agreeing, a frown appeared on Evelyn’s beautiful face.

"Do I have to repeat myself again, Sunark? Only then will you understand? Xavier is not merely my guest, but your future brother-in-law. You cannot speak to him so disrespectfully."

Millie and Jackie’s faces immediately turned strange upon hearing Princess Evelyn’s declaration.

On the other hand, Sunark could only open and close his mouth for a few seconds before finally speaking in a solemn tone.

"Big sister, it’s not that I don’t want to understand, but aren’t you already engaged to Commander Brutus according to our thousand-year-old elven tradition? Disregarding that arrangement is disrespecting our ancestors, our culture, and our heritage."

"How can I remain silent?"

Princess Evelyn’s expression froze.

She couldn’t stop herself from sighing.

Although Sunark was a good younger brother, he took too much pride in their traditions.

What ancestors? What traditions?

If it had truly been so great, they would never have abandoned their homeland and fled to another world.
