"If you want freedom, then eat it and become my soul pet. You will get everything that you could ever want. Or you could rot here for an eternity. I will leave the choice to you."

He had taken a big risk by tossing the only bead that he had received, inside the domain. If he failed here, then he couldn’t even try to take another Soul Beast. But he didn’t care. He was absolutely convinced about his success.

Just as he hoped, the Soul Beast didn’t think for a long time, his eyes shifting back and forth between the soul fragment and the taming bead.

The beast started transforming into a humanoid form, with a dark aura materializing around her body, forming her clothes.

"If I craved freedom, I could’ve left with other humans that came here throughout the years. But this..." She picked up the fragment of a Constellation’s Soul, her eyes turning red in greed.

She didn’t care about freedom to the point that she would be willing to become someone’s Soul Pet. But there were two things that managed to convince her, hidden carefully in Rey’s words.

"You said you also hate that family? If I become your Soul Beast, will I have an opportunity to bring them to ruins?" she asked, as she placed the soul fragment of the constellation in her mouth, feeling a heavenly taste that made her feel as if she was truly floating.

"What if I told you that I already killed their youngest Descendant before coming here? What do you think? Do you think you will have an opportunity?" Rey asked, almost certain about that woman’s answer now. Her family was right!

There was only one way to convince her. It was to use her greed, as well as her hatred at the same time.

"Their downfall has already started. If you come with me, you’ll be able to watch it with your own eyes. And the key to leaving this place is right before you," he said, pointing towards the contract bead.

The woman was certain that the boy was not lying. She could verify it with her own abilities, even if she couldn’t leave this domain. At least the boy really believed his own words.

She picked up the contract bead, and consumed it, making Rey’s eyes light up. He had received his Soul Beast, becoming the first person in the current batch to do so.

Once the woman consumed the bead, the domain started breaking apart and a bright light shot straight through the sky, marking the freedom of a high tier fable, a sight that was visible all across the Land of Fables.

....

"What is that?" Elias was flying to the central region, far away from Rey’s current whereabouts. But even he could see the bright light shooting into the sky, as if someone had fired a really powerful arrow straight at heaven.

"It means a high-grade fable has entered into a contract with someone from the Academy." Astralious chimed in. "You are really ignorant about even the most basic things."

"A high-grade fable? How?" Elias frowned, looking at the bright light that was only getting stronger with each passing second.

He had already seen how strong the mid-tier fables were. Without his weapons, even he would’ve struggled against them. So how was it possible that someone had already finished the contract, especially with a high-grade fable?

He knew that the others in his class were strong, but they weren’t this strong. He was absolutely certain about this.

"Just how did they do it?" he mumbled.

Only a few seconds had passed when he saw another bright pillar shooting through the sky from a completely different direction. Someone else had also established a contract with a High Grade Soul Beast.

"It looks like you are going to be left behind by your friends. Instead of going to the Central Region, you should also find a weaker domain and tame a soul beast. It would be a much better use of your time."

Astralious was still attempting to convince Elias into giving up. Even if the boy didn’t need to get a Soul Beast because of his unorthodox abilities that allowed him to kill a fable on his own, it was still an advantage to have a Soul Beast that no one could ignore.

"If you leave without getting a Soul Beast, can you imagine the kind of mockery you will receive from the others? We should turn around and find a suitable target."

"Who said I won’t be getting a Soul Beast. I can find a suitable one while I’m collecting materials in the Central Region. I still have the contract bead," Elias said, as he opened his temporary storage to bring out the bead.

"Hmm? Where is it?" The moment he looked inside his temporary storage, his expressions became strange. He couldn’t find the contract bead that he had received anywhere inside his temporary storage.

He looked inside every corner of his storage, but the item was nowhere to be found. He subconsciously started checking his pockets to see if it was there, but even his pockets were empty. The contract bead was nowhere to be found.

"Did I drop it somewhere?" He started looking inside the cockpit, even under his feet or at the place where he was sitting, but the result was the same. The soul bead wasn’t here at all.

He tried really hard to remember where he had last seen it, but at the moment, nothing in his mind clicked. He had gone through so much in the last few days that there were a lot of memories that were just jumbled.

"Did you already lose it?" Astralious asked.

"I guess I did..." Elias sat down, letting out a tired sigh. "I think I dropped it somewhere. It’s probably as good as gone now. It looks like I didn’t have a Soul Beast in my destiny in the first place. But I’m really curious. Where exactly is that soul bead?"
