Legendary Architect of Apocalypse-Chapter 86: You’ve gone crazy
"Emergency Protocols?" Elias looked at the screen, hearing this term for the first time. He didn’t remember seeing it previously, but it was roughly what he expected.
Even if the protection mechanism from his mind was removed, the chances of complete collapse were still not one hundred percent.
"It looks like the gamble didn’t fail." He sighed in relief, wondering if he was about to be sent back.
"Hah? Wait!" The screen soon disappeared, and nothing changed. "What?"
The memory started flowing in a regular manner, as the Soul Beast opened its jaws wide, devouring him and putting an end to these memories.
With the end of the dream, Elias’s eyes opened, and he abruptly sat up, finding himself covered in sweat. His heart was beating so fast that it felt out of the ordinary.
He looked at his surroundings, which felt quite normal, compared to the space where he was getting thrashed in Astralious’s memories. He was inside a room, with walls made from wooden boards.
The room was far from spacious, and had only one bed that had a mattress that felt extremely uncomfortable now that he was awake. It was as if the mattress was filled with sharp grass.
He was wearing a robe that reminded him of the old robes that were used in hospitals for patients. It was the only thing that was covering his body.
"He reached out his hand to test if he was still in some kind of mental realm or if this was reality. A small portal opened before his hand, a gateway to his storage realm.
"So it’s reality indeed," Elias mumbled as he pulled new clothes from his storage, similar in style to his older ones.
He took off the robe after getting down from the bed and tried to put on the new clothes, only to realize that they didn’t fit him anymore. It was only then that he noticed he seemed to have grown, now having the physique of a sixteen or seventeen-year-old.
’Is this the effect of the merger?’ He put the clothes back, retrieved a larger size, and changed into them.
"If you’re done appreciating yourself, shouldn’t you start finding our whereabouts? We aren’t in a garden."
Elias had just finished getting dressed, when he heard Astralious’s voice. He quickly looked back at the source, and saw Astralious sitting on the bed, with a leg resting over the other, as if he was bored.
"You..." Elias frowned, taking a step back. He thought that Astralious was trapped in his consciousness, giving him enough time to try to extract him. But to see him outside, left him at a loss.
Is that what the Emergency Protocol meant? It had pushed out Astralious? But didn’t it make him more dangerous, since he wasn’t extracted?
"What? You want to hit me?" Astralious stood up, and approached Elias, until the distance between them was only a few feet.
"If you’re out of my mind, then why don’t you leave? We have nothing to do with each other anymore." Elias really wanted to hit Astralious, but he acted cautiously, wondering just what this person was planning.
Even though Astralious was a threat to the Ashborn Family, that wasn’t his concern for now. He had more pressing issues, like finding out his whereabouts.
If they were in a room, then there was going to be an owner to this place as well. And in this world, only Fables could live. It didn’t leave much doubt about the species of the owner of this place that brought them here.
"You think I don’t want to leave?" Astralious asked, getting even closer to Elias, and soon he passed through Elias, as if he was simply a ghost.
"You are..." Elias turned around, and watched Astralious walking towards the window, not even addressing the fact that he had just passed through him.
"Correct. I’m not real," Astralious answered, coming to a halt before the window. "Congratulations... You have gone crazy and started seeing things."
"Well, it won’t be the first time." Elias didn’t seem surprised, as if he had already come to terms with it.
His muted reaction disappointed Astralious to some extent, who respected to see stronger reactions from a person that was told that they had just gone crazy.
He didn’t know that Elias had already checked the situation with Analysis, and understood what was happening.
"Enough, you boring brat. I am still trapped within your mind. I don’t know what that annoying ability is, but I can’t seem to free myself. I only gained enough freedom to cast protections in your mind to make you see and hear me."

Astralious held his hands behind his back, like some great expert. "How about we make a deal? If you free me from this prison, I will try to find another host to take over. We will have nothing to do with each other, and you won’t have to worry about me either."
"I will also owe you a favor that you can use anytime in the future. Isn’t that a good deal for you?" he asked calmly.
Even though he didn’t show any eagerness for that answer, deep down, he really wanted to be free. He just didn’t want Elias to know how badly he wanted it.
"I might have to disappoint you if that’s the case. I can’t free you since I don’t control that thing. Even I’m not sure how I’m still alive, or what the hell just happened."
Elias also wanted to send Astralious on his way, to ensure that he wasn’t backstabbed in the future. Unfortunately, the only way to remove Astralious from his mind was through Extraction. But in his material composition, he couldn’t see Astralious anymore.
He didn’t know if it was because it was something that had penetrated his consciousness deeper, because of the Emergency Protocol, but he couldn’t even extract him anymore, at least in his current state.
