Legendary Architect of Apocalypse-Chapter 62: You better be worth it
Rey was stunned by the fierce counterattack from Elias. Still, he wasn’t as weak as the last time they fought. Then, his winds had failed to hurt Elias. But this time, he didn’t have to rely on his winds alone.
Instead of protecting his face, he grabbed Elias’s waist and released flames capable of destroying everything in their path.
Elias felt a burning sensation that made him cry out in pain. He could feel flames burning his flesh and entering his body, threatening to melt it from the inside.
At this rate, even if he killed Rey, his own chances of survival were slim. It was no different than being collateral damage in his efforts to kill Rey.
He changed his plan and abandoned his attack, attempting to jump back instead.
"Where are you going?" Rey asked, his blood-covered lips curving into a smile. Last time, it was Elias who had refused to let him escape, thrashing him relentlessly. But this time, he had taken control of the situation.
The flames were wreaking havoc inside Elias’s body.
"It looks like the Professor was right. You are nothing without your weapon! I can’t believe that I was beaten by someone like you," Rey said, mockingly as he used his winds simultaneously to raise Elias’s body in the air.
His winds restricted Elias’ body, while the flames had already taken a hold inside him. The flames were destroying his flesh and organs.
Rey also stood up, patting his clothes as he looked at the other children that were watching from the distance. He looked quite smug. Even if he was surprised by the initial attack from Elias, he still managed to deal with him alone.
"The Professor was right. You are useless without your external weapon that helped you cheat!" he said, looking at Elias’s left hand. His fists were clenched, but he was sure that it was because he was hiding the Growth Stone in that hand.
"It’s time for the Growth Stone to return to the person it belongs to." He reached out his hand, and grabbed Elias’s fist.
Elias kept roaring, as the right side of his body had completely turned to ash, destroyed by the flames. The flames had even reached his face, destroying him thoroughly. Even his pained cries had stopped at this point.

Before long, Elias was completely destroyed. Not even a single inch of his body was left behind, as ashes fell on the ground. Only with Elias’s death, the flames had stopped.
Rey took the item from Elias’s hands before he was completely destroyed. He smugly looked at the small gem that he had taken from Elias. Finally he could have his first evolution.
"Hmm?" The moment he looked at his hand, he started frowning. The object in his hand was not a Growth Stone. Instead, it was an ordinary stone that was picked from somewhere in this forest.
"If it’s not the Growth Stone, then where did that Growth Stone go?"
He was looking at his surroundings in disbelief, but there was nothing here. He could only see the ashes, that were the last remnants of the person that was supposed to be his enemy.
There was no gem in those ashes. Did his flames burn even the Growth Stone? That should’ve been impossible. But all signs pointed towards that conclusion.
"Rey Esterin, why don’t you give that Growth Stone to us? It’s better to have one extra friend, than one extra enemy."
"Don’t listen to her. Give that Growth Stone to me. I will owe you a favor."
Now that Elias, the bigger threat was gone, the other descendants shifted their focus on Rey, who they thought received the Growth Stone.
"I don’t have the growth stone. All I found was this random stone," Rey answered, not even trying to hide his frustration. "If you want this useless rock, then take it."
He tossed the rock towards the other Descendants. However, before the rock could even get close to the silent girl, it disintegrated into nothingness.
"Are you sure you want to lie to us? We all saw you kill Elias. Who else will have that Growth Stone but you? Or are you saying that the Growth Stone was devoured by thin air?"
"It’s not the time to be greedy. Hand over the Growth Stone, and I will let you go!"
More and more descendants approached Rey, asking him to give them the Growth Stone. The more they threatened him, the more frustrated Rey became.
"I don’t have the Growth Stone. And even if I had it, why do you think I will give it to you? Do you really think I’m scared of you?!"
"If you’re not scared, then you should be. You had such a hard time dealing with someone like Elias. Did that really make you think you were some bigshot? Did you really let that arrogance get to your head? In that case, you might be in for a rude awakening!"
A young boy cracked his knuckles, his long robe fluttering in the wind. On his robe, there was an Insignia of another Founding Family, that was no less prestigious than the Esterin Family.
"You!" Rey was already upset that he hadn’t received the item that he wanted. And now he was being threatened?
"In that case, why don’t you try giving me that so-called rude awakening?" He clenched his fists, and flames started burning around his arms. Winds gently wrapped around his feet.
Within minutes, another battle began. This time, it was a battle that involved the descendants of many major families. All of them wanted the same thing, an object that could help them go through their first evolution faster.
"You seem to be in really high demand. You better be worth it." Far away from the sight of the battle, a young boy was walking towards the North, playing with a small gem in his hand.
Soon, he reached the end of the forest, and took his first step into the land of fables.
