Legend of Dragon Son-in-law-Chapter 1381: Just So
Chapter 1381: Chapter 1381: Just So
The look in the Alliance Hierarch Pendleton’s eyes shifted from shock, to surprise, to fury, until it ultimately faded into nothingness.
Pu-chi!
Andrew drew his gun!
Blood, splattered all over the walls.
The red dragon seemed even redder.
And in the blank part of the painting,
there was a splash of blood as if it was meant for the corpse on the floor.
"You play the fool, and am I not doing the same?" Andrew took out a handkerchief from his pocket, and before he could wipe off the blood, a guard ran in from outside.
"Alliance Hierarch, we—" he couldn’t finish his sentence.
The guard was completely dumbfounded.
Immediately after, he reacted as if electrocuted!
He turned and fled!
Pu-chi!
A spear pierced through the heart!
The guard fell to the ground, lifeless.
With one hand, Andrew caught the returning spear.
"I truly want to sit in the Alliance Hierarch’s position," he ferociously stabbed the spear tip into his own chest, then leaned against the wall and slowly sat down.
Blood incessantly flowed down the spear tip.
"I’ve waited so many years, finally, this opportunity came..." Andrew’s face slightly paled; he pulled out the long spear and dropped it on the floor, turning his head to look at the unyielding corpse of the Alliance Hierarch.
He faintly smiled and said, "Don’t take anyone for a fool."
After saying that, his head tilted.
And he passed out.
...
City Lord’s Mansion.
"Failed?" Ian Jorden looked with heavy seriousness at Isabella Warm who appeared a bit disheveled.
"If not for the artillerymen you arranged on the perimeter opening fire, I might have not escaped!" Isabella Warm walked over to the table, picked up the teapot, and not minding her appearance, directly poured into her mouth.
She was very thirsty after running all the way.
"Just as I thought, Alliance Hierarch Pendleton was indeed feigning madness! However, I did not expect Andrew to turn traitor at the last minute." She wiped her mouth with her sleeve, her eyebrows knitting slightly together: "It shouldn’t be! According to my research, Alliance Hierarch has always been wary of Andrew, even arranging people to secretly eliminate him!"
"Human hearts are hard to predict," Ian Jorden said somewhat helplessly, turning his back and continuing, "Perhaps this was just a well-played act between the Alliance Hierarch and Andrew?"
"Impossible!"
Isabella Warm decisively said while sitting in a chair: "Alliance Hierarch Pendleton has constantly been seeking chances to eliminate Andrew! But..."
She sighed, feeling somewhat frustrated.
"What about the Divine Dragon Tripod?" Ian Jorden suddenly asked.
"Here!"
Thud!
Isabella Warm placed her hand under the table, fetching an apothecary tripod: "I’ve examined it; it should be genuine. However, why would The North Sea easily obtain the Divine Dragon Tripod? People fought bloodily for it all over the world. Yet, we got it without much effort."
"Since we’ve obtained it, why not experiment first?" Ian Jorden reached out, holding his breath, and lifted the Divine Dragon Tripod from the table, examining it closely.
"Your daughter is well taken care of by the Holy Lord," Isabella Warm uttered out of the blue.
Hearing this, Ian Jorden’s hand trembled slightly but soon returned to normal.
"I heard that he had someone save my daughter’s life. Ian has dedicated his life to the Holy Lord, only I wonder what he would think when he discovers that the person lying in the coffin isn’t me?"
Ian Jorden looked at Isabella Warm with a wry smile: "Will he hate me? Or curse me? The Holy Lord values loyalty and righteousness; such is rarely seen in the world."
Without waiting for a response, he muttered to himself, "I have never betrayed him."
"By the way, when you arrange for helpers next time, make sure they are capable," Isabella Warm resting her head on her hand, spoke tiredly: "That cannon fire nearly took me down as well."
"Report!"
Just then, a guard’s voice came from outside the door.
"What is it?" Ian Jorden asked, standing by the back courtyard room of the City Lord’s Mansion with Isabella Warm.
This place was private and off-limits without the City Lord’s order, and no one was allowed to enter.
In front of them were three more doors.
So Isabella Warm didn’t need to hide.
"What’s the matter?"
Ian Jorden asked coldly: "Speak!"
"City Lord, the person you assigned to handle matters on Golden Boulevard, due to getting drunk last night, missed the scheduled time and tried to flee from Swimming City! As a result, he was caught by patrolling brothers outside!"
The voice of the guard reporting came from outside.
"What?"
Isabella Warm and Ian Jorden exclaimed simultaneously.
Then, they exchanged a glance, both seeing confusion in each other’s eyes.
If the trusted aide they arranged failed, who would be rescuing Isabella Warm?
"Are you sure that person didn’t act according to the plan?" Ian Jorden asked again.
The guard outside was his trusted aide!
Having followed him for many years, he is very reliable.
"I’ve already asked, and this lad confessed everything! Because of the heavy tasks you assigned last night, he went out drinking all night. Who knew when he sobered up, he had already missed the appointed time."
Outside the door, that voice came again.
"Kill him, crush his bones and scatter his ashes."
Ian Jorden said indifferently.
"Understood!"
A guard answered, then there was silence.
"Who could it be!" Isabella Warm stood up, feeling uneasy for the first time.
"I’m not sure either!" Ian Jorden shook his head, pinching his nose, "Tonight, I’ll arrange for someone to check it out. As for Pendleton, you can rest easy. They can’t stir up trouble in Swimming City."
Replacing the City Lord, Ian Jorden is now the new City Lord of Swimming City!
Originally, three forces balanced each other out, but Isabella Warm had contact with Ghost Seven, and Ian Jorden took advantage of the Bull Town Incident to severely suppress the nine forces.
Thus, the might of the City Lord’s Mansion reached its peak!
"I need to rest." Isabella Warm shook her head, showing difficulty for the first time.
She built momentum for stealing the Divine Dragon Tripod, getting close to the Alliance Hierarch Pendleton.
But in the end, it was all for naught.
Could this be fate?
...
On the Golden Path.
An old man and a young one were strolling leisurely.
"Stop there!"
But suddenly, a loud shout came from behind.
Protector ’Mountain,’ while tracking Isabella Warm, had lost sight of her.
So he walked on the Golden Path, attempting to catch the culprit!
Without that firearm, it would be difficult for Isabella to escape!
How infuriating!
Little did he know, once he reached the street, he saw an old man carrying a firearm, swaggering along the road.
"I’m calling you, can’t you hear?"
’Mountain’ was already wounded and furious, and upon spotting the suspect, the person ignored him!
This made him extremely annoyed!
However—
The old and the young, as if they hadn’t heard, continued to stroll forward leisurely.
"Seeking death!" Mountain charged forward and grabbed the old man’s shoulder: "Was it you who fired outside the wall just now!"
"Yes, what about it?" The old man turned around and didn’t push away the hand on his shoulder, but instead questioned back: "Aren’t you supposed to be dead?"
’Mountain’ started to increase the force in his hand!
He thought the other party wouldn’t admit it!
But unexpectedly, not only did the other party admit it, they even seemed righteous in questioning him back?
"You’re seeking death!"
He threw a punch!
The four Protectors with golden bodies beside the Alliance Hierarch Pendleton possess astonishing combat power!
They are impervious to swords and spears and possess immense strength!
Even Andrew was not able to kill a Protector.
And these four Protectors with golden bodies, from birth, were loyal to the Alliance Hierarch!
They will not change even unto death!
This is also why the Alliance Hierarch Pendleton can confidently seek to weaken Andrew, yet still dare to keep him by his side.
The confidence lies in these four people!
’Mountain’s’ punch was fierce, and with this strength, the old man’s head would directly explode!
Smack!
But suddenly, a hand appeared, catching ’Mountain’s’ fist, as large as a casserole.
"I heard that the four Protectors with golden bodies beside the Alliance Hierarch Pendleton cannot be killed?" The youth said with a smile.
"Exactly!" ’Mountain’ responded with a sullen face.
But before he could finish speaking, a thin layer of ice suddenly formed on his fist!
Then, the thin ice began to spread!
In less than three seconds!
The Protector with a golden body was encased in ice!
Like a statue of ice!
Or perhaps, a sculpture.
"Huff!" The man lightly blew a breath, and the ice sculpture turned into countless tiny sparkles, dissipating in the air.
"That’s all there is to it."
