Chapter 63 - Heldenstein(3)

"Oh my, are all the duchies gathered here?" A sweet, mellow voice stopped everyone in their tracks.

Felix and Leona, who were bickering just a second ago, stopped. Their eyes widened at the figure that approached them.

Cynthia had the same reaction while Alea just stood there with her usual air of indifference. Raiden shifted his gaze from Elisabeth to the new person who had woven themself into their group.

Platinum blonde hair that gently cascaded down her back in elegant waves, evoking her regality. Her crimson eyes boasted kindness and confidence, sweeping over the whole group of nobles.

She wore the same white coat with a silver brooch, but there was something else that separated her from the others. It was not the air of elegance around her that made everyone follow her.

Well, it was a part of it.

But the thing that demanded the most attention, other than her heavenly beauty, was a gold brooch that hung from her coat. It had the symbol of a dark son carved out of obsidian with a sword standing in the middle of it.

It was the mark of the Royal Family of the Germainia Empire.

And the one bearing it was the 2nd Princess of Germainia, Celestina Kaiserfalken Von Germainia.

Raiden deftly kneeled in front of her. His head lowered. "Ehre dem Blut der Germania. Heil, Prinzessin Celestina Kaiserfalken von Germania." (A/N: Honour to the blood of Germania. Hail, Princess Celestina Kaiserfalken von Germania.)

Soon after him, Leona, Elisabeth, Cynthia, Felix and even Alea followed. The males were bending one knee while the females lifted the hem of their black skirts, bending at the waist.

"""""Ehre dem Blut der Germania. Heil, Prinzessin Celestina Kaiserfalken von Germania."""""

"You may rise. The Empire recognises your loyalty," Celestina stated, allowing them to stand again. "Also, don't follow such formalities in the Academy. It would be bothersome."

"But, your highness—" An old man beside her, who was most likely her butler, wanted to argue. But she simply raised her hand, stopping him from speaking, which he followed.

"I hope you understand that," She smiled at the group before her as she made her way towards them.

"As you wish, your highness." Raiden accepted, and so did the others. This made Celestina release a sigh of relief.

"Sorry for my intrusion, but the discussion you all had going on was interesting. Can I join?"

"We would love to accompany you, Your Highness."

The group moved along with Celestina as they all talked about their upcoming life, their expectations, and their anxieties. But few ought to remain silent—Alea, who was, as always, walking with that indifferent aura.

Celestina seemed like she had cold walls surrounding her from all sides. She was also known as the most bitter among the group.

But these two were expected to be like this.

The most surprising one was the daughter of House Von Edelstein—Elisabeth Von Edelstein.

She had a gloomy air around her that was a contrast to her usual demeanour. Normally, she would've been talking with Leona and Celestina, complaining about her fiancé.

But today she was quiet. This was noticed by both Raiden and Celestina as they've mostly grown up together, meeting in banquets and parties.

This whole group were friends with each other not only politically but also in a sense of knowing each other.

Celestina walked near Raiden. She slightly tugged at the sleeve of his coat. "Do you know why Elisabeth is so quiet?"

"Your Highness, I don't really know..." Raiden scratched the back of his head. He seemed to be oblivious to it all. He did not know what plague this lady—his friend, but he wanted to know.

"Hey, Leona." He called out to his sister, who was walking alongside Cynthia. He gestured for her to come near him, which led to both Cynthia and Leona coming over.

"What is it?" Leona asked.

"Do you know why Elisabeth is like this?" Celestina asked, slowly tilting her head to see Elisabeth walking behind them with a slouch. "She looks rather Gloomy..."

Hearing Elisabeth's name, Cynthia's eyebrows twitched, but she remained composed as she was in the presence of the princess.

"Ah, it is due to Noah being missing," Leona whispered to them. "He was engaged to Elisabeth, you remember that right?"

"By Noah, you mean?" Raiden raised an eyebrow.

"Noah Von Blitzfeld, the cute and chubby kid, who used to play with us."

Raiden's memory clicked. "Ah, I remember him now. He was a good guy. What happened to him?" He asked.

Raiden had spent time playing with Noah before, but it was not as much as he did with Felix or Leona. He had seen him at parties—clinging to Elisabeth and annoying her.

For Raiden, he was just another kid—rather a kind one. He had never seen a noble like him before.

Where children his age would be cocky of their status, that guy was a refined gentleman. He might be out of shape, but he was a good guy.

"He went missing four months ago," Celestina replied. I remember it quite well now; his posters were hung up in various cities, even in the Capital."

"The Blitzfeld are still searching for him, right, Lady Alea?" She called out to Alea, who was quietly walking beside Felix.

"Yes, your highness." Alea nodded. "He is a very important member of our family"

"No, that guy surely ran away." Felix scoffed. "Your highness, you don't have to meddle in the discussion of that weakling."

Cynthia, his sister, shot him a glare. "Shut up."

"Oh," He smirked. "Is my dear sister still in lo—"

"Sir Felix," Celestina interrupted him, her face wearing a smile devoid of any warmth. "I don't believe that you can tell me where I meddle or not. Please keep that in mind."

Felix quietened down, his fists clenching below his waist, but he did not argue. "I understand, your highness."

Leona and Raiden looked at each other before releasing a small chuckle. It was not the first time Felix had been shut down, and it was not going to be the last either.

As Raiden's group arrived in front of a huge building, they were awestruck. It looked like a cathedral built by some ancient gods. Its walls, which were carved from white moonstone marbles, glowed under the sun like a white flame.

On each side of the building stood two towers meeting the blue sky with their tips that seemed to be piercing through it. Every student who entered seemed to pause to give the huge building a look, their jaws slack from the artistic mastery.

It was the ceremonial building of Heldenstein.

"It is even bigger than our estate," Leona blurted out, which made everyone, including Raiden, look at her with weird looks.

"What?" She asked, her brows furrowing.

"Nothing..." Raiden replied before moving towards the huge white doors that worked as an entrance to the building.

All the students moved inside to find a huge hallway stretched before them. The walls were pale white with various photos of influential people who changed the history of Germainia.

They walked forward towards the main hall, gazing at the different people over the 700 years that the Empire existed. But the most notable of the other photos was of a single man.

His portrait was hung over the door of the ceremony hall. Its frames were built with gold and silver. The man had brown hair with an oak crown over it. Sharp lines of blades ran on his face, giving him an elegant and handsome look. A brown moustache rested over his lips, and he wore armour of silver with a gleaming shine.

The man was the First Sovereign, the Hero of Dawn—Aurelian Chernov Orlovski.

All the students stood there, admiring the Great Hero who had slain the Great Wrath that tried to consume the world. The man who started the Era of Dawn.

Creeeak.

Suddenly, the door below the portrait swung wide open, grabbing the attention of the students. The lights lit up one by one, revealing the grandiose that awaited the students. Pale white walls of moonstone marked with black obsidian pillars. Above the ceiling, there were many small mana lamps with a huge Chandelier in the middle.

Below rows of darkwood frames and red cushioned seats can be spotted. In front of them stood a stage with red curtains folded on the sides. In the middle stood a single podium of white with the Oak Crown carved in it.

A man stood at the podium, his shoulders squared, his back straight. He seemed to be around his 60s or 70s with the wrinkles on his face and the grey hair that was neatly slid back. He wore a moustache of the same colour below his nose.

The clothing he wore for the occasion was a black suit that hugged the man's lean frame perfectly. It made him look more elegant, more disciplined and undeniably more confident.

His gaze swept over the students who now, one by one, entered the Ceremony hall.

"Please take your seats,"

The man's deep voice echoed throughout the entire room. It was cold and professional, but also strong, which made a shiver run down Raiden's spine.

He is strong!

All the students scrambled to find a seat for themselves. Felix and Alea also followed them, grabbing a seat in the third row.

"Then, I will see you three later." Celestina excused herself, making her way towards the first row. The students instinctively parted for her.

Elisabeth also separated herself from the group, going over to the other side, prompting Raiden to call out to her, but he was stopped by Leona.

"Why?" He asked.

"Let her be," This time, Cynthia replied. Her voice was cold and tinged with resentment, which made Raiden furrow his brow, but he did not question.

Cynthia did not speak further, making her way towards the fourth row, and Leona followed after her. Raiden sighed before following them and taking a seat beside them.

All the students were now seated, gossiping among each other—

"Silence."

The man's voice echoed again, the chatter died down. The nervous gazes of the students were on him.

"Is everyone here?" He asked. His eyes swept through the room, his brows furrowed for some reason, but he did not say anything.

"Then we should beg—"

Creeak.

Before the man could speak, the doors swung open again. Making every student present in the hall turn their heads. The silhouette of two figures could be seen—Both males.

Then a voice uttered.

"Kept you waiting, huh?"
