[Leanna’s POV]
[Our Moment]
"Hey, what’s wrong?"
I nudged Cain and look over to meet his gaze.
Cain shook his head a little. "Nothing . . . I . . ." He paused for a long time before he sighed. "You have a loving family."
I huffed a laugh and snuggled myself against his warm, cozy embrace.
"Well, they aren’t perfect, but you can’t have everything in this world."
Cain rubbed my back, eyes on the horizon. His other arm was resting on the back of his head while he rocked us on the cozy hammock under the light of a million stars.
"Are you . . ." He took a deep breath. "Okay with me?"
There was a scowl on my face as I tried to capture his elusive eyes.
"Mr. Fay, if I remember correctly, you were the one who kept on pushing yourself on me and said never to let me go."
"Yes . . . but . . ."
This was a first. He seemed to be struggling and indecisive for once.
He sighed again, more massive than the last. "You have a normal loving family. You’re free, and unrestrained until I . . ."
I cupped his cheeks and steadied his gaze when his voice turned all horse. His face bathed in shame and guilt.
"Enough. Don’t you dare back out on me now. After you made me fall in love with you and all." My eyes squinted, trying my best to look angry.
Cain held my cheek as he met my gaze.
"I’m not . . . I . . . I feel guilty in trapping you like this. I’m not . . . my family is––!"
I pressed my fingers on his lips.
"I know."
My arms circled his neck, and I pushed my body against him, my face resting on his chest.
"Whatever the future is, I can’t imagine it anymore without you in it. I’m still scared about it and anxious about what I might find out. But one thing is for sure, no matter what it is, no matter how evil or twisted or perverted you are, or no matter how dark your family secrets are . . . I know you won’t ever hurt me. And is all the truth I need to know."
. . .
. . .
Cain’s hand tightened on my back as he pressed his lips on my hair.
"I won’t ever make you regret your decision."
He said it slow and spoke it with finality.
I look into his eyes, which seemed to be melting, softening his entire expression.
"I love you."
"I love you more."
Cain held my nape and guided my lips to his.
"Sis!"
"Sis! Where are you?!"
I laughed when he grunted.
"I swear; they’re doing it on purpose," he hissed.
I giggled and stood to my feet.
"Come on. Let’s go back."
I reached for his hand, and we made our way home.

[Leanna’s POV]
[Birthday]
I woke up when something familiar tickled my nose. It was a smell that reminded me of something old and vintage, yet remained classy throughout the years.
I got up and did my usual stretched of hands before I yawned and groaned. Still a bit sleepy, I glanced to my side to find the twins gone. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
My eyes squinted, for I saw something like what I saw in my dreams and illusions. I rubbed my eyes and blinked several times. Maybe it was the dirt or morning glory –– but no.
It’s still there.
Thousands and thousands of white rose petals formed like soft clouds, scattering all over my bedroom.
W-what is this?
My sight caught a glistening red card with intricate letters written on it in silver ink.
[ Someone I love is born today.
Let me be the first to greet you a joyous birthday.
To start your day, I’ve prepared a bath for you.
– Cain ]
I giggled.
Now that made my whole day!
I hopped towards the bathroom, and true enough, inside was filled with scattered white roses, and the bathtub was full of steamy warm water. The whole room was overflowing with the soothing smell of lemon and honey mix with roses –– and I love it.
Without much thought, I undressed and scrubbed and wash myself clean before I jumped into the tub. After the refreshing bath, I put on my robe and went to my walk-in closet only to skid to a stop when a beautiful chic dress stumbled my view.
I grabbed the sticky note on the dress, and my face stretched into a wide smile as I read it.
[ A beautiful dress for a beautiful lady. ]
I shook my head and bit back a smile.
Where on earth did he get the time to do all of this?
I mean, we were together throughout yesterday.
My fingers brushed the dress, being careful not to damage the fabric.
"It’s so beautiful."
Like I have all the time in the world, I slid inside the dress, and it was amazing how it fitted so perfectly. I was mesmerized when I checked myself in my full-length mirror. The dress really brought out the best in me from the elaborate but straightforward cut down to the embroidery and color. Like it was made just for me.
I sauntered in the dresser, and a black velvet box caught my full attention. It was just there on the table, waiting to be opened.
My breath hitched when a hair clip decorated with beautiful jewels arranged in flowers glistened before my eyes.
[ My love,
I wanted to do your hair for you
– but that would spoil the surprise. ]
I giggled.
I couldn’t stop smiling as I arranged my hair in an updo braid and slid the hair clip. Then I puffed a light makeup to finish the whole look.
When I gazed in the mirror, I couldn’t believe the girl was me.
She was so beautiful than I ever know possible.
The hairclip, together with the hairstyle, matched perfectly well with the dress.
More than satisfied, I went out of my room, feeling excited of what Cain’s about to do next.
That man always never fails to surprise me.
There were no longer notes, but it wasn’t hard to follow the clues when patches of white petals were on the ground, forming a pathway for everyone to see.
I tailed it, not minding that our house seemed to be empty. Not a soul was seen, and not a sound was heard. I got curious when the petals stretched all the way across the road to our ranch.
I shrugged my shoulders and followed it.
