Landing on Her Heart: Mr. Warner, Let's Get Back Together!-Chapter 42: Mom Is a Teddy Bear
At the end of the corridor, a large teddy bear costume approached with short legs, waddling quickly.
The teddy bear’s fur looked incredibly thick, yet the bear didn’t pause, trotting straight towards the door of the operating room.
"It’s my favorite teddy bear! Mom, I love you so much!" Luna exclaimed joyfully, her eyes curving into crescents as she called out with all her might.
Just as the clumsy bear was about to reach Luna’s side, it almost slipped due to inertia.
Fortunately, Elias Warner was standing next to her and discreetly steadied the clumsy bear.
The clumsy bear didn’t even have time to thank Elias before dashing towards her daughter.
Luna hugged the fluffy teddy bear tightly, unable to resist kissing the bear’s chubby face.
With teary eyes, she asked, "Mom, why are you only just here?"
Elias Warner stepped back, giving the long-separated mother and daughter some private space.
He stood tall and distinguished, his deep, somber eyes like the sea, one hand in his pocket, silently watching the touching scene before him.
The clumsy mom and the adorable child.
In fact, he had always been aloof from a young age and didn’t like to get too close to people.
He couldn’t understand why, even though it was a teddy bear, Luna could immediately recognize that it was her mother in disguise.
Dr. Flora, standing aside, noticed his confusion and couldn’t help but explain.
"Because Luna’s heart isn’t very good, she rarely gets to participate in outdoor activities, so whenever Luna’s mother visits, she tries to bring the amusement park to the hospital room. That way, Luna can be happy for a long time."
"Besides the teddy bear, Luna’s mother has also dressed up as a little yellow duck, Mickey Mouse, Doraemon..."
Elias Warner listened silently, his black eyes deep, "Luna is very happy."
So her mother loves her very much. Watching Luna happily high-five her mother, he then heard Luna calling him.
"Dad, since Mom is here, why don’t you come over? Come on, come on!"
Elias Warner stepped over, standing on the other side of the hospital bed, his deep voice ringing out, "So happy?"
"Mom and Dad have to wait for me outside together! Once I come out, the first thing I see should be you both! No one is allowed to leave without saying goodbye!"
Luna held one adult’s hand in each of her little hands.
The left one was fluffy, the right one was cold, slender.
"If anyone dares to disappear, Luna will get angry!"
"Alright, alright, darling, Mom promises not to leave. Be brave and fight the monsters; when you get better, Mommy will take you to the amusement park, okay?"
The teddy bear bent its cumbersome body to comfort her, even through the costume, the voice sounded like it was crying, but it was clearly a young woman’s voice.
"I want Dad and Mom to take me together."
"Okay, okay. Mom promises you."
Though he hadn’t heard the story of Luna’s parents, standing beside this mother and daughter, Elias Warner could feel that Luna’s mom really loved Luna’s dad.
Therefore, if you truly love someone, it’s impossible to bear getting rid of his child.
A mother who unhesitatingly abandons her child must really dislike the child’s father.
Later, until Luna entered the operating room, he didn’t smile again.
The man’s deep, profound eyes slightly closed, pursing his lips standing at the door of the operating room, until the preparation light inside the operating room lit up.
Beside him, from the moment Luna entered the operating room, Luna’s mom collapsed entirely.
Even though almost unable to stand, she still wouldn’t take off the headpiece.
Elias Warner didn’t meddle in her affairs.
He just felt a bond with Luna, which stirred sympathy, temporarily playing the role of Luna’s dad.
He wasn’t really Luna’s father and didn’t want to get too involved with trouble.
Raising his hand to check the time on the wristwatch, it was already nine in the evening.
Tomorrow he has to fly back to Breslin, that woman was still downstairs in Caden Lynch’s hospital room.
It was too late.
As he frowned, the clumsy teddy bear stepped forward to him.
Even though the costume was large, Luna’s mom still seemed much shorter when standing in front of him.
Elias Warner’s arm lowered and tucked into his pocket.
"Are you Mr. Warner, the one sponsoring Luna? Thank you for staying with Luna so late." The teddy bear’s voice was muffled, suppressing a sob.
"No need to be polite." Elias Warner maintained a cold and distant attitude but courteously reminded her, "You can take off the headpiece to talk."
It wasn’t curiosity about her appearance but concern that Luna’s mom might faint at any moment.
"It’s okay, Mr. Warner, I have something to say to you."
Luna’s mom said, "You’ve been a tremendous help these past two days. Without you, Luna might not have entered the operating room so smoothly."
"She’s never met her dad. Maybe she mistook you for someone because of your aura, which is like a big star’s, and disturbed you. I’m really sorry."
As she spoke, the teddy bear bowed apologetically toward him.
Elias Warner stood silently, a crease in his brow momentarily moving.
"But you have your own life and family; you can’t always be Luna’s dad. It might hurt less if you separate now, rather than later, which wouldn’t be good for either of you."
The teddy bear stood before him, apologizing, "I know my words are unpleasant, but it’s better if you don’t come again. The two million dollars you sponsored Luna, I’ll ask Dr. Flora to return to you."
"Please leave now? I’ll stay here with her. I will explain to her when she wakes up."
After speaking, the teddy bear kept its head down, and Elias Warner could only see her head.
But, at thirty years old, nearly no one had spoken to him this way.
He was Elias Warner, usually admired, indulged by countless others, who didn’t treat him with the utmost respect?
Never thought goodwill for charity would result in being told to leave.
In his life, the only person to cause him such discomfort was Annelise Winter.
This woman before him didn’t count as much.
But her words were enough to extinguish any admiration he felt for this young mother.
Elias Warner’s face turned cold, exuding a dignified aura that kept people at a distance.
Chapter Forty-Three
Just then, his phone rang.
He answered the call just like that!
"Speak!"
"Elias! That pretty girl you brought over has run away!"
On the other end, Caden Lynch was on the verge of tears.
"Oh, I was so careless! I thought she couldn’t get far; I went out to find her but didn’t find her after searching for over an hour!"
Elias Warner’s deep black pupils suddenly darkened.
"Alright, I got it!"
He hung up coldly, his gaze once again fixed on the teddy bear in front of him.
He merely felt sorry for the child inside.
But what did the child inside have to do with him!
The man’s brows were sharp as he suddenly became indifferent, "Since you want a clean break, Luna is still wearing my Peace Lock around her neck. Please return it when she’s out of surgery!" 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
He didn’t care that the bulky body swayed.
Elias Warner turned and left.
There was no further hesitation or looking back.
It wasn’t until the upright figure finally vanished from the hallway, so long that Luna’s mom inside the teddy bear could barely stand.
At last, Luna’s mom slowly, weakly collapsed, sliding to the floor against the wall.
At the moment the headpiece was removed, a pale, bloodless face was revealed.
