Lady Meilin is seduced by her green tea brother-in-law everyday-Chapter 300: Tangning runs of sugar again.
Mei Mei picked up her phone and searched for the footage of Zhenzhen and Junjie dancing together at the National Liberation Day ball.
She played the video via hologram and said to Zhenzhen, "There is nothing wrong with fear, we all have things that we are afraid of. But, from what I can tell when I saw the two of you dancing together, he sees something in you that he likes. You two have a starting point and you can build from there.
Not everything is about love all the time because love changes. It takes on different shapes and forms. Sometimes, it vanishes and sometimes it makes an unexpected turn and returns after vanishing.
You are his future and you must make him see it and feel it. Love does not happen just because your eyes meet across a room. You must take other steps to make sure that it grows and stays."
Zhenzhen’s fingers trembled as a result of her nerves acting jumpy.
"Zhenzhen, you are young so I am going to give you one final piece of advise on Junjie. He does not need a woman that will flatter him blindly, he needs someone that will challenge him. Someone that will argue with him over silly things, stay up with him on some nights when the crown is heavier that usual, call him out when he is being stupid and ridicule his taste in ice cream and chocolate."
Zhenzhen frowned. "Chocolate and ice cream."
Mei Mei sniggered. "He likes chocolate mint and I think it tastes like toothpaste. You should not be afraid to make him try new things, even those he doesn’t like. It is all about the memories that you create together.
Don’t just do it with him but the children as well. Long Wen is easy to get along with but hard to understand. She likes to read so form a book club for two, just you and her. Meet once a week and discuss a new book that you have both read.
Long Shuang is a hurricane on two short legs. Find sensible things to occupy most of her time and you will form a relationship with her because she will start relying on you."
Zhenzhen got a notebook and decided to record all these ideas by hand. Mei Mei continued to dispense advise on everything from Junjie to the rest of the royal family. She even added details like where Zhenzhen could go in the royal palace if she needed absolute privacy. What she could do to relieve stress as an Empress.
By the time the conversation ended, they had drunk five cups of tea and three hours had gone by. Now, Zhenzhen was outside in the backyard, playing fetch with General Big Yellow. It was her first step in being more friendly with animals.
Mei Mei was watching them from the window, peeking like a nosy neighbor that was looking for something to gossip about after Sunday service at church.
"What do you think of her?" She turned her head and asked her assistant.
Assistant Han replied without hesitation, "She is not what I expected of the next Empress."
"What did you expect?" Mei Mei asked her.
Assistant Han paused for a moment, lowering her eyes before raising them directly to look at the back of Mei Mei’s head. "You."
Mei Mei coughed and turned around, rolling her eyes.
"Please don’t tell me that you believe those stories about me and Junjie being childhood sweethearts!"
"That is not it." Assistant Han shook her head. "You are a Jun and you grew up with the Emperor. If you look at things logically, you should have been the Empress."
"And live a life of scrutiny and rules. No thank you." Mei Mei answered. "Besides, I grew up watching my parents love each other so much to the point that it almost seemed like we the children were intruders in their lives." She smiled softly as she recalled the moments of love she witnessed between her parents. "I promised myself that I would marry for love because I want the happiness they have."
"Pardon me for saying this Miss Jun but that did not go so well the first time round, did it?" Assistant Han responded coldly.
Mama Su happened to hear her daughter’s response and the hen she was planning to stew for dinner fell out of her hands. She did not even look at it as it run off because she was waiting for Mei Mei to fire her daughter.
Mei Mei did not angry, she just laughed. "A momentary lapse in judgement which I remedied by divorcing and starting over. I am not the first woman in the world to make such a mistake. What I am grateful for is the fact that it is not permanent." She switched her eyes from Zhenzhen and lifted them to Tangning’s house. The singer was home, peeking out of her bedroom.
She was also watching Zhenzhen play fetch with General Big Yellow. Mei Mei knew that it was not Zhenzhen she was watching for but Mingzhe.
"Tangning is peeping again." Mei Mei said with a sigh. "Should I help her out by inviting my brother over tonight?
Assistant Han remained still with her head held high. "It is of no use if the Imperial Commander is not interested in her."
"It does not mean that I cannot try to match make by creating meeting opportunities for them." Mei Mei replied. "My brother needs a woman in his life and I am going to take it upon myself to play cupid."
Assistant Han sighed. She got her phone and added playing cupid to the list of activities her boss had to do. She knew that she would be roped into it as the assistant. Mei Mei would be the baby in a diaper with the arrow and she would be the side kick handing over the arrows.
Tangning moved away from the window but Mei Mei remained. A minute later, one of Tangning’s maids came over with a cup to borrow sugar.
Mei Mei giggled. Tangning’s house had to have sugar devouring monsters because every other day, they borrowed some from her.
"What do you think the maid has been sent over to inquire?" Mei Mei asked her assistant.
Kang Zhenzhen replied with her usual straight face, "Kang Zhenzhen’s identity and her business here."
Mei Mei had a comment to make but her phone rung. It was Jingzhe calling from the royal palace.
"My cute pup..." She answered in a joyful voice.
Jingzhe cut her off and said in a rushed voice. "Sister hurry up and come to the royal palace. The Empress dowager is going to betroth Mingzhu to Prince Long Wu Ping."
