Lady Meilin is seduced by her green tea brother-in-law everyday-Chapter 278: Another of the Empress’s secrets.
Mei Mei gulped some wine. She wondered where those scandal parrots where when they were needed. This was the time to scream those words out loud.
"Uncle." Junjie cleared up for her. "He is her uncle."
"Did you confront her?" She asked.
Junjie did not reply immediately as he thought back on those days. He did think about confronting her and he had marked it on his calendar but he found avoiding her a much easier solution. She had also played the role of the perfect wife after terminating her first pregnancy. For a while there, he convinced himself that he could look past her mistakes as long as they were not repeated.
"I am guessing you did not because if you had, she would not be as arrogant as she was." Mei Mei said, answering her own question.
She also thought to herself that this secret which Junjie kept to himself had probably reached the ears of the Empress Mother and that was why she was determined to kill off the Empress. If she could get pregnant for another man and try to pass it off as a royal child once, what was to stop her from doing it again?
And if she did it with a male child!!!!
Mei Mei added more wine to her glass and sipped it quickly. Talk about confusing royal blood! If that child became emperor, wouldn’t the Long emperor end in secrecy?
Was that the plan of the Hui’s all along? Is that why they had been positioning themselves in positions of power all along? Mei Mei’s eyes widened.
"If I had Long Shuang would not exist." Jingzhe said.
The wine glass in Mei Mei’s hand shattered. A piece cut her and blood dripped from her hand but she did not feel the pain or notice. Her mind was still reeling from what she had just heard.
She stood up and slammed her hands on the table. "What the fuck Junjie. Are you telling me that Long Shuang is not your daughter!"
Junjie pointed to he hand. "You are bleeding."
"Shut up." She screamed at him. "Just answer my question. Is Long Shuang your daughter or not?"
"He already said that she is not. Are you listening or not?" C4 shouted at her.
Mei Mei slowly sat down, speechless for a moment. Not only had the Empress cheated once but she had gone back and done it again!
Not only had she cheated but she got pregnant for her uncle again and carried the child to full term. Was she crazy?
"I cannot believe this." Mei Mei groaned. "Now I know why she had to die. Oh my God!! Junjie, you should have divorced her a long time ago. What she did.....holy crap."
This was the kind of news that would overwhelm the people if they got to hear about it. It was a scandal that would overshadow every other scandal in the empire.
Junjie sighed. Now she knew why his relationship with the Empress had become cold. Most people assumed that it was just because he did not love her but the biggest reason was because of her infidelity.
Obviously, she did not love him. Her love was saved for her uncle. With him, she wanted power and the satisfaction of stepping over everyone.
"Were you planning to just stay married to her for the rest of her life?" Mei Mei asked him.
Junjie sent a message, asking for a first aid kit to be brought in as he answered her question. "I don’t really know. Divorce is very complicated when it comes to the royal family."
"Oh my God!!" Mei Mei slapped the table. "Junjie, you are fool."
Waning raised his eyebrows as he entered the dining room. Only Jun Meilin and Princess Rize could boldly call the Emperor a fool.
"Please don’t tell me that you were still sharing a bed with that woman. Have you tested for sexually infectious diseases?" She asked him.
Waning cleaned Mei Mei’s wound and she winced.
"I have not been intimate with her for years now and I am very clean, for your information. Our marriage has been in name only for so many years. Why do you think there have not been any babies since Long Shuang was born? The only reason why I never did anything about Shuang is because she was born a girl. If it had been a boy...." He answered but left his sentence hanging.
She understood what he was saying. If it was boy, either the child would have died or somehow ended up lost, never to be seen again.
"I am glad that we won’t have to bury her body in the the royal tombs." He said.
The hologram which was playing news showed Hui Zhenting addressing the press.
"Turn that up." Mei Mei told him.
With what she knew about him now, she was very interested in hearing what he had to say.
"The investigation into the first assassination attempt on the Empress yielded nothing." Hui Zhenting said in a heavy voice that was loaded with anger. "The Imperial command and their commander Jun Mingzhe have proven to be unreliable. They mishandled the case and today, disaster that cannot be turned back has occurred. In this explosion, I lost two loved ones."
Flashes popped. Reporters leaned forward. The blame game had officially started.
Hui Zhenting continued. "We have lost our empress, the mother of the nation. What answers does the Imperial Command have to offer us? They have nothing at all." He screamed into the microphone. "This is not just incompetence--it is sabotage."
"Are you saying that Imperial commander Jun Mingzhe wanted the Empress dead?" A reporter shouted.
"Do you think the investigation was deliberately manhandled?"
"How is the Hui family preparing for the funerals?"
"Has there been any word from the Emperor?"
They could all see Hui Zhenting wrestling with grief. Only Mei Mei and Junjie truly understood what Zhenting was truly grieving. Not an empress or his uncle that had died. He was grieving his love.
"I want to vomit, Turn that off." Mei Mei pretended to hurl.
"If he goes after Mingzhe, your mother is going to destroy him." Junjie mumbled.
Mei Mei could not agree more. Her mother would ruin Hui Zhenting so much that he would not have the face to look at anyone again.
"She probably knows about the affair, doesn’t she?" He asked.
Mei Mei shrugged. "In all likelihood, yes she does. But my mother stays out of people’s business. She is not the type to nose around or gossip."
