Chapter 603: Forced to Pay Back the Money

After handling everything in the city, Jiang Yexun didn’t stay for long and headed straight back to the village.

The next morning, just before work, the villagers had surrounded both his house and the old Jiang family’s house.

"Yexun, your father came to us before the New Year asking for five hundred yuan, saying it was to help your little nephew. But now, more than three months have passed. How about you and your older brother discuss how to repay us for this money?" they said, suppressing their fear and feeling awkward.

At first, they had agreed to help out of kindness, unwilling to let such a small child die or live a lifetime as an imbecile. That’s why they had each contributed. But no one had expected the formerly respected village head to be so shameless.

Everyone knew that Jiang Yexun and Su Xiaoxiao were quite wealthy, so they felt it was appropriate to ask them to pay back the money.

However, it was awkward to ask for the money right as Jiang Yexun returned, so they decided to wait a couple of days. But that same day, Aunt Guo and Jiang Guoli had a huge argument, and the villagers realized that if Aunt Guo and Jiang Guoli didn’t make up, it would be unlikely to get the money back.

They didn’t expect that instead of reconciliation, they would find out about Jiang Guoli’s scandalous behavior, and he was eventually caught in bed with Dong Jiaxuan.

Jiang Yexun, facing the villagers in front of him, didn’t get angry. He understood that the villagers were not wealthy, and the five hundred yuan was a collective donation for a fellow villager’s child. Even if he had no interest in Jiang Guoli’s affairs, he couldn’t let the villagers down.

"Alright," Jiang Yexun nodded and knocked sharply on the tightly closed door of the next house.

After knocking several times without any response, Jiang Yexun’s face grew colder.

"Jiang Quankun, I know you’re inside. If you don’t open the door now, don’t blame me for kicking it down again," he called out.

The sound of a hurried voice responded from behind the door.

"I’m coming, I’m coming!" Jiang Quankun quickly opened the door.

Seeing the villagers standing behind Jiang Yexun, his previously fearful expression immediately turned to annoyance.

"Why did you bring them all here?"

"Jiang Guoli borrowed five hundred yuan from them before the New Year. What’s the problem with them coming to collect the debt?" Jiang Yexun raised an eyebrow and responded.

Jiang Quankun immediately became anxious. "Who borrowed money from them? They should be asking my father! Why are you bringing them here to block me? Didn’t you send my father to the police station? Go ask for the money there."

Jiang Yexun smirked, tightening his brows. "You seem to have forgotten. The house you live in now belongs to Jiang Guoli. Every brick and tile here was paid for with his money. This land doesn’t belong to you."

"What do you mean by that? You already have a good house next door, and now you want to fight me for this one?" Jiang Quankun yelled angrily.

If not for the fact that he couldn’t beat Jiang Yexun, he would have thrown a punch at his face.

"Jiang Guoli borrowed the money, but he didn’t take his grandson to the big city for treatment. He spent the past three months holed up here. There’s no way he used that money, so that five hundred yuan is still here in this house. We just need to find it and pay everyone back," Jiang Yexun stated firmly.

"You’ve gone mad! Dad was just sent to the police station by you, and now you want to tear the family apart even more?" Jiang Quankun knew that the five hundred yuan, plus all the money Jiang Guoli had saved over the years, was definitely hidden in this house.

But he and his wife had searched high and low last night, nearly digging through the floors, yet they couldn’t find the money or any of the savings bonds.

He had planned to search thoroughly in the next few days. After all, Jiang Guoli had committed such a shameless act, and he would likely be in prison for at least a decade or two.

But who would have thought that Jiang Yexun would go mad and bring the villagers to forcefully search the house?

Jiang Yexun had the skills to hunt and had married a rich city girl. He didn’t care about the five hundred yuan, so why did he have to act so aggressively with the villagers?

Seeing the hate-filled look in Jiang Quankun’s eyes, Jiang Yexun could easily guess what he was thinking. His gaze became even more scornful.

"Jiang Quankun, have you misunderstood? This five hundred yuan doesn’t belong to Jiang Guoli’s, and it certainly has nothing to do with you. It was collected from several people in the village, and has nothing to do with the Jiang family," Jiang Yexun sneered.

Jiang Quankun wasn’t a fool, and he knew exactly what was going on.

But he was shameless and felt that once money entered his pocket, it was his to keep. He also believed that since his father had borrowed the money, his father should be the one to repay it.

But since his father was now in jail, the villagers who wanted the money could go to the police station and ask for it there.
