Chapter 442: Jiang Yexun Gets Jealous of the Kids—How Immature

Zhu Peini remained silent for a moment before nodding. "Although we have plenty of workers at home and our tickets aren’t bad, it’s still tough these days with the scarcity of supplies. Sometimes, even if you have meat tickets, you can’t get any meat at the supply and marketing cooperative. When that happens, we have to figure out a way to get some on the black market."

The two sisters-in-law carefully calculated the family’s monthly income and the amount of tickets they’d have, then thought about the four little babies that kept crying. They immediately realized that once the gifts from their cousin were finished, if they wanted to eat meat again, they’d have to join the long lines early.

"Mom, if you need to buy anything from the black market in the future, just let us know. We’ll go for you," the eldest sister-in-law quickly offered.

The second sister-in-law nodded repeatedly. "Yes, yes! After all, we’re young. If something happens, we’ll definitely run fast."

Zhu Peini hadn’t expected her two daughters-in-law to be a bit fearful but still willing to take the risk for her. She looked at them with even more affection.

Su Xiaoxiao, sitting nearby, couldn’t help but smile. As long as her two sisters-in-law were decent and didn’t cause trouble at her grandparents’ place, she was happy.

"Alright, enough about that. Xiaoxiao, you and Yexun have brought so many things, so we’ll take them. You stay and chat with Grandpa and Grandma, I’ll go prepare lunch," Zhu Peini said, pulling Su Xiaoxiao towards the sofa.

But Jiang Yexun interrupted. "I’ll go."

Since he had already gone last time, the Gu family instinctively thought of that explanation. Seeing Jiang Yexun’s confident look, they finally nodded and smiled. "Alright, you can continue taking charge of the kitchen. Once you can cook those celebratory hometown dishes properly, we’ll all make them together."

Jiang Yexun didn’t refuse. With a smile, he greeted the elders and headed for the kitchen. But as he turned, his gaze fell on the kids who were clinging to his wife, and his eyes darkened slightly.

Su Xiaoxiao stayed with her grandparents, chatting for a while. Suddenly, she seemed to remember something and hurried to the kitchen. Seeing Jiang Yexun busy at the stove, she leaned against the doorframe, her eyes full of emotion.

Jiang Yexun placed the chopped vegetables on a plate, wiped his hands, then turned and smiled at her. His cold, hard face softened into a warm smile, as if he had already known it was her.

"How did you know I came?" Su Xiaoxiao asked, walking straight towards him.

Jiang Yexun smiled and walked over to her, then wrapped his arms around her. "I can hear your footsteps, and whenever your gaze falls on me, I can feel it."

"Don’t you feel the gaze of small animals when you’re out hunting in the mountains?" Su Xiaoxiao teased as she wrapped her arms around his and leaned back to look at him.

"That’s different. When others look at me, I stay alert. But when you look at me, I can’t help but feel... heated." Jiang Yexun lowered his voice and chuckled.

Su Xiaoxiao immediately blushed, stomping on his foot. "You’re teasing me again!"

"No, I swear! I really can feel your gaze!" Jiang Yexun quickly promised earnestly.

Before Su Xiaoxiao could say anything else, he leaned down and kissed her four times on the face.

Su Xiaoxiao was stunned, unable to believe what had just happened, staring at him in disbelief.

Then, Jiang Yexun kissed her on the lips again.

Su Xiaoxiao panicked, worried that a relative might walk in and see something, so she quickly pushed him away and raised her hands to touch her burning cheeks. "What was that for?"

"To reclaim the kisses those little brats took from me." Jiang Yexun said confidently, not at all feeling immature.

Su Xiaoxiao took a deep breath, forcing a smile and pointing at her own pink lips. "They didn’t kiss here."

"It’s okay. I’m kissing for myself," Jiang Yexun said seriously.

Su Xiaoxiao realized she couldn’t outdo him in the teasing department. Blushing, she turned to leave the kitchen but suddenly stopped and rushed back in, annoyed. "Because of you, I almost forgot why I came! I need to tell you, there are four kids at home now, and you need to prepare at least two non-spicy meat dishes and one non-spicy vegetarian dish. Kids have sensitive stomachs, and if they eat something too spicy, they might get cramps."

"Alright," Jiang Yexun nodded in agreement.

He then opened his arms. "So, how about a hug?"

"No!" Su Xiaoxiao glared at him, flustered, and turned to leave the kitchen.

As soon as she returned to the living room, all eyes turned toward her. Although they hadn’t heard or seen what happened in the kitchen, seeing Su Xiaoxiao’s face, which was usually pale, now flushed bright red, they immediately understood.

After all, most of the people there were experienced.

They couldn’t help but laugh in their hearts, then teasingly said, "Wow, you two really have a great relationship."

Su Xiaoxiao’s head almost dropped into her chest from embarrassment. Fortunately, since they were all family, they were just joking around and didn’t press further. They quickly shifted to a discussion about marriage.

Meanwhile, it took nearly two hours for Jiang Yexun to cook for the family of sixteen. When the dishes were finally served, every time a dish was placed on the table, the four kids couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise.

"How is it? Your uncle is amazing, right?" Su Xiaoxiao smiled as she rubbed their heads.

The four little brats nodded enthusiastically. "He’s amazing! From now on, uncle can make lots of delicious food for beautiful aunt to eat."

"Wow, how can you guys be so cute?" Su Xiaoxiao couldn’t resist rubbing their chubby little faces.

The kids didn’t mind at all and giggled as she did so.

Once all the dishes were on the table, Grandpa Gu tasted a bite and immediately patted Jiang Yexun’s shoulder with a smile. "Good job, kid. Your cooking skills really shine! You only learned these dishes once and made them so well."

"I think I can still practice more," Jiang Yexun replied modestly.

Su Xiaoxiao took a bite, then gave him a thumbs up. "So delicious! With your skills, you could open a restaurant."

Jiang Yexun pulled out a chair and sat next to her. "I won’t open a restaurant. I won’t sell this skill. I’ll just cook for you and the family."

"My husband is so great," Su Xiaoxiao said, smiling with curved eyes.

Jiang Yexun’s heart soared at hearing those two words, making him feel as though he was floating in the clouds. Although he had never heard anyone call him "husband" before, he understood the meaning. The fact that Xiaoxiao was willing to address him so affectionately, even with so many elders around, made him happier and happier.

His normally stern lips, which were usually tight, now curled up in a wide grin, almost reaching his ears.

Seeing this, Su Hongchen couldn’t help but look away, feeling a bit embarrassed. Still, as he ate, he had to admit that Jiang Yexun truly cared for his sister.

He wasn’t sure if, when he finally found the right girl, he could treat her the same way. The thought of it made him feel guilty.

He even thought that if he were to measure his future relationships based on Jiang Yexun’s standards, he might never find anyone.

Meanwhile, Su Xiaoxiao’s two cousins, who were watching Jiang Yexun, sneakily glanced at their wives, quickly lowering their heads, afraid they’d be reminded of their own shortcomings. After all, when it came to cooking and household chores, they always left it to their wives. They loved their wives, of course, but after seeing Jiang Yexun’s way of treating his wife, they felt they were nothing in comparison.
