Kissed and Seduced By the Most Rough Man in the Village-Chapter 354: Surrounded by Disciplinary Office Personnel
Ji Yujing bit her lip and instinctively looked at Ding Xuechun and Gui Zhenzhen.
Gui Zhenzhen frowned but didn’t speak, while Ding Xuechun hurriedly said, "Yujing, you should listen to Xiaoxiao; what she said makes sense."
"Alright then, I’ll leave the book here and come back later in the afternoon if I have time to check it out again," Ji Yujing said, finding an inconspicuous corner to tuck the book away.
Grandpa Zhai was standing at the doorway, holding a bowl of food. Seeing them come out with empty hands, he curiously asked, "Didn’t find anything you liked?"
"Not yet, but we’ll come back later if we have time," Su Xiaoxiao replied with a smile.
"If you’re looking for something specific, let me know, and I’ll set it aside if I come across it while collecting scrap," Grandpa Zhai offered enthusiastically.
"I’m looking for science and math books," Su Xiaoxiao didn’t refuse the kind gesture.
Grandpa Zhai nodded, making a mental note, and the four of them left the scrap yard.
By the time they arrived at the state-owned restaurant, it was already packed. They had no choice but to order their food and wait for a table.
However, the dishes were served before a table became available, so Su Xiaoxiao went to pick them up.
She carried a plate of braised pork in her left hand and a plate of stewed eggplant in her right.
As Gui Zhenzhen went to retrieve the food, she bumped into Su Xiaoxiao, and Su Xiaoxiao clearly felt her backpack sink slightly.
Soon after, Gui Zhenzhen returned with the food, and a table happened to become available.
They quickly sat down.
Ji Yujing wiped the chopsticks and passed them to Su Xiaoxiao, then asked curiously, "Xiaoxiao, have you set a date for your wedding? Let us know so we can free up our schedules in advance."
"I’m not sure yet, but it’ll definitely be before the New Year. Send me your address, and I’ll mail you the invitation," Su Xiaoxiao said, feeling a little embarrassed.
She had been so busy playing mind games with the Pan family and managing the mysterious space that had suddenly appeared that she hadn’t put any thought into her wedding. Aunt Guo had been handling everything.
"But the New Year is only about twenty days away. How will you get married? You can’t leave from your parents’ house just to circle back and return, right?" Ji Yujing frowned, clearly frustrated by the thought.
Su Xiaoxiao laughed. "No, my fiancé already bought a house in Shanghai."
"What? You’re not going back to the Northeast?" Gui Zhenzhen was surprised.
"We are. The house is a part of the betrothal gift. My parents and brother can live there."
Su Xiaoxiao’s response was casual, but it made Gui Zhenzhen grip her chopsticks tighter.
Ji Yujing and Ding Xuechun looked at Su Xiaoxiao with envy.
"How are you so amazing? You found a fiancé in the Northeast who even bought you a house in Shanghai. We’re really useless—married and still living with our husbands’ extended families."
Su Xiaoxiao felt a little embarrassed by the compliment.
But despite having lived two lives, her girlish vanity was still well satisfied.
Seeing Su Xiaoxiao like this, Gui Zhenzhen suddenly said, "Xiaoxiao, since you’re going back to the Northeast, why not rent the house to me? It’d be a waste to leave it empty, and you could earn some money each month."
Ji Yujing and Ding Xuechun were instantly annoyed by her suggestion.
"Gui Zhenzhen, do you even think before you speak? It’s her new home, and she hasn’t even moved in yet, and you’re already asking to rent it?"
"I just don’t want someone else to beat me to it. Besides, I’m not asking to rent it now, but after they’ve left," Gui Zhenzhen argued.
Su Xiaoxiao propped her chin up, smiling faintly at her. "Sorry, I have a bad habit—I don’t like others touching my things."
Besides, in her scheme, did Gui Zhenzhen really think Su Xiaoxiao would survive until her wedding and then rent her the house?
Gui Zhenzhen’s face darkened.
Just as she was about to say something, her eyes lit up, and she quickly lowered her head.
Ji Yujing and Ding Xuechun exchanged puzzled looks, not understanding what was happening.
Before they could ask, a group of people wearing red armbands approached their table.
The previously noisy state-owned restaurant fell silent the moment they appeared.
Everyone kept their heads down, as if afraid of being implicated.
"You four, stand up. We’ve received a report that you’re hiding old capitalist items."
"We don’t have anything," Ji Yujing instinctively retorted.
One of the armband-wearing men glared at her fiercely. "Shut up! Stand up when we tell you to. We’ll know if you’re hiding anything once we search."
Without saying a word, Su Xiaoxiao stood up and placed her satchel on the table.
One of the men immediately grabbed her bag and dumped its contents onto the table.
All that fell out were a couple of coins, a ten-yuan bill, and some ration coupons.
"Impossible!" Gui Zhenzhen suddenly exclaimed in disbelief when she saw the items.
Ji Yujing and Ding Xuechun looked at her, confused.
"What do you mean, impossible?"
"N-nothing," Gui Zhenzhen said, her face pale as she shook her head.
Not only did her face look bad, but the men with the armbands were also visibly upset.
Su Xiaoxiao raised her eyebrows and glanced at her with a smirk. Gui Zhenzhen, feeling guilty, quickly lowered her head.
The men briefly rummaged through Ji Yujing and the others’ bags, then turned back to Su Xiaoxiao.
Her fair face was tinged with a faint blush, and her bright black eyes sparkled like two crystal-clear beads, pure and almost inviting destruction.
The man in charge narrowed his eyes, his malicious intentions clear.
"We’re going to search your bodies now."
"You men are going to search us women?" Su Xiaoxiao asked, her face full of fear.
"You violated the rules by hiding capitalist items. Of course, we have the right to search you!" The man declared as he reached out toward Su Xiaoxiao.
The others, following his lead, also reached for Ji Yujing and the others.
Fear washed over Gui Zhenzhen’s face; she had never expected things to escalate this far.
But she was too scared to resist.
Just then, Su Xiaoxiao screamed at the top of her lungs: "Help! They’re molesting us! Disciplinary Office men are using their authority to molest women in broad daylight! You’re no different from the corrupt officials of the old era, snatching women in the streets, wanting to play emperor!"
The man flinched at the sudden outburst.
Hearing Su Xiaoxiao’s words, panic and anger flashed across his face.
"Shut up! Stop slandering us! We’re enforcing the law!" he shouted, trying to drown out her shrill accusations.
But Ji Yujing and Ding Xuechun, seeing their predatory actions, quickly joined Su Xiaoxiao in shouting for help.
