Kissed and Seduced By the Most Rough Man in the Village-Chapter 319: Su Hongchen’s True Identity
Mrs. Su looked at Su Xiaoxiao, who was acting spoiled, with a worried frown. She was afraid her daughter might be too pampered, making it difficult to maintain a good relationship.
But Su Hongchen, on the other hand, seemed to have seen through Su Xiaoxiao long ago.
"Mom, don’t worry about it. She’s just sweet-talking you. When she sweet-talks others, her mouth is probably even sweeter than now."
Su Xiaoxiao, caught out, pouted and glared at her brother. However, the sibling bond between them was strong, so Mr. and Mrs. Su did not intervene in their bickering.
After everyone had finished their baths, they each went to their rooms to sleep. Su Xiaoxiao, worried about the mastermind behind the scenes, tossed and turned in bed, thinking over everything that had happened. Unable to find any clues, she reluctantly fell asleep.
The next morning, when she woke up, her parents had already gone to work. After calling out a couple of times and confirming that her brother was not around either, the relaxed expression on her face immediately vanished.
She quickly slipped into her parents’ room and, after searching for a while, found the family album in a box on top of the wardrobe. Their family had always thought they were doing well. Since she had memories, her father had been the secretary of the steel factory, and her mother had been the deputy director of the Women’s Federation. So, on special occasions like birthdays, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and Spring Festival, they would go to a photo studio for pictures.
Just flipping through, Su Xiaoxiao quickly saw pictures of her brother as a child. Though they weren’t baby pictures, the child at over a year old still resembled his infant self.
Sure enough! Just as she suspected!
Su Xiaoxiao’s hands trembled so much she nearly dropped the album. Just then, she heard the sound of the front door opening. Startled, she hurriedly tried to put the album away.
As she climbed onto a stool to put the box back, her hand slipped, causing the box to fall heavily to the floor.
"Who’s there?" Su Hongchen called out warily and pushed the door open immediately.
Su Xiaoxiao didn’t have time to tidy up and could only smile at Su Hongchen, "Brother, I was just looking at the photos. Since Brother Yexun and his mother are coming over, I thought we might want to take some pictures for the New Year."
Mrs. Su followed Su Hongchen in, her gaze falling on the scattered photos and then on her daughter.
"Of course. They’re coming over so rarely. Even though you two are in the northeast and spend several months there each year, it’s still important to take photos during the New Year. It’s a good opportunity," Mrs. Su said with a smile as she began picking up the scattered items.
Su Hongchen had no objections. He went to the living room, put the groceries into the kitchen, then prepared breakfast, and said, "Xiaoxiao, I got you some youtiao and soy milk. Eat it while it’s hot. We’ll have lunch with Mom and Dad, so don’t wander around. I’ll go meet with my friends here to help investigate the steel factory issue."
A ton of steel was not a small amount; its loss would definitely leave traces.
"Okay," Su Xiaoxiao quickly agreed and sat down at the table to eat breakfast, watching Su Hongchen leave.
She ate her breakfast obediently. After a while, Mrs. Su came out of her room. Noticing that the youtiao and soy milk were nearly finished, she sat down in front of Su Xiaoxiao.
Just as Su Xiaoxiao’s face was about to break into a sweet smile, she saw her mother’s serious expression.
Swallowing hard, she awkwardly smiled, "Mom, why are you looking at me like that?"
"I’m waiting for you to voluntarily tell me," Mrs. Su sighed heavily.
Su Xiaoxiao was a bit surprised and then became serious.
"Mom, did you buy Brother, or did you pick him up?"
Mrs. Su’s expression stiffened, and she reached out to pinch Su Xiaoxiao’s ear. "What are you thinking, child? Do you think your father and I are criminals or something?"
"No, it’s just that Brother’s biological father and grandparents seem to care so much about him. I can see that they genuinely miss him," Su Xiaoxiao quickly explained.
But Mrs. Su snorted, "What genuine? People in high positions are the best at pretending! When they married your aunt, they were so affectionate. When your aunt died during childbirth, Zhang Zhiyuan looked like he wanted to go with her. But what happened?
Three months after your aunt died, he remarried, and had a child with another woman. He thought your brother might affect the new wife’s mood, so he just left your brother at your grandparents’ house with a letter and didn’t even provide child support."
"Didn’t you go to Zhang’s family to cause a scene back then?" Su Xiaoxiao asked, although she didn’t think Zhang’s family would act like that, she was curious how her mother and grandparents, who didn’t seem to be easily cowed, could have let Zhang’s family get away with this.
Mrs. Su sneered and shook her head. "They did things so decisively. What was there to cause a scene about? We didn’t want to climb higher with them, nor could we afford to raise your aunt’s child. At the time, your father and I had been married for two years without a child, so we thought about adopting, and it was four years later that we had you."
"But Zhang’s family said Brother was stolen by human traffickers. They have been searching for him for years," Su Xiaoxiao said, frowning deeply as she thought about Zhang’s family’s claims.
Before Mrs. Su could respond, Su Xiaoxiao continued, "And if Aunt’s child was stolen, they should have come to Shanghai to inform you, right? They never sent anyone? They’ve never come over all these years?"
"Exactly what you said, and that’s why we’re even more certain that Zhang’s family is insincere. Don’t be fooled by them. If they had any real intention, your aunt’s grave is in Shanghai. Why has Zhang Zhiyuan never come to pay respects?" Mrs. Su’s eyes reddened with anger as she spoke.
Su Xiaoxiao furrowed her brows and stared intently at her.
Although Mrs. Su’s words seemed consistent and made sense, Su Xiaoxiao still felt something was off.
"You don’t still believe that Brother was stolen, do you? How could human traffickers precisely drop him off at your grandparents’ door? And let me put it this way, isn’t Zhang’s current grandson particularly useless?" Mrs. Su sneered.
Su Xiaoxiao thought about Zhang Hanyu, who seemed like a spoiled young master, and nodded silently.
Mrs. Su’s scorn deepened. "Doesn’t that explain everything? The grandson they kept around was ruined, so now they’re nostalgic for the one they discarded."
"Then if they’re nostalgic, why don’t they come back to find him?" Su Xiaoxiao finally touched on the part she found strange earlier.
But she couldn’t quite understand why Zhang’s family acted this way, nor why her own family had reacted the way they did.
