Chapter 206: Wanting to Adopt Jiang Quansheng’s Children?

Jiang Guoli was instantly silenced, like a chicken caught by the neck, unable to make a sound. He could only glare resentfully at his younger son.

"Who says I only have one son left? There’s still you," he sneered. "You might hate me as a father, but you can’t change the fact that you carry my blood. You’re my seed!"

"I’m old enough to change my surname without your consent," Jiang Yexun stared directly into his father’s arrogant and smug eyes.

Watching Jiang Guoli’s face turn red with anger as he struggled to speak, Jiang Yexun felt a wave of satisfaction.

"You... you’re lying!" Jiang Guoli snarled through gritted teeth.

"You can ask around. When you demanded we forgive your children from your previous marriage, I looked into it," Jiang Yexun explained further.

Jiang Guoli knew his younger son wouldn’t make empty threats. For a moment, his face twisted with hatred.

"I don’t agree! I don’t agree! You carry my blood; that makes you my son," Jiang Guoli shouted in frustration.

Everyone present, including Jiang Guoli, knew he was just raging impotently. After yelling for a few seconds, he saw the three people before him looking at him with disdain, offering no concessions. Unsure of what to do, he turned to Aunt Guo.

"We haven’t divided the family, and we’re not divorced. Now that Quansheng is in trouble, the family is in chaos. No matter what, as my wife and stepmother to my children, you can’t just stand by," he demanded.

"So what do you want me to do?" Aunt Guo asked, frowning.

She knew that if she truly ignored such a major issue, it would be hard to defend her position in the village.

"You need to help take care of the two kids from the second branch and manage the funeral arrangements," Jiang Guoli said, suddenly looking older by a decade. He especially dreaded the thought of his second son being buried outside the family graveyard due to family rules.

"Fine," Aunt Guo agreed reluctantly. Despite her aversion to getting involved with Jiang Quansheng’s family affairs and the bad luck it might bring, she couldn’t completely ignore her duties as a stepmother.

Seeing Aunt Guo agree without further action, Jiang Guoli grew impatient. "What are you standing around for? Pack up and come back with me!"

"Why should I go back? Helping with the funeral doesn’t mean our previous issues are resolved," Aunt Guo shot back without hesitation. She had disliked Jiang Guoli since her youth and her aversion only grew with time. She saw no reason to move back in unless absolutely necessary.

"Have you grown attached to living here?" Jiang Guoli raised his hand in anger, but Jiang Yexun’s icy glare made him lower it reluctantly.

"Fine. Let me know when you need my help with the funeral," Aunt Guo said, clearly uninterested in prolonging the conversation.

Jiang Guoli, his emotions barely in check, said, "I don’t want to drag you over there. You need to watch the second branch’s kids."

Aunt Guo pursed her lips, unsure how to respond. Su Xiaoxiao stepped in, "The eldest family is fine. Why can’t Hu Yuezhen manage four kids? What kind of daughter-in-law can’t handle watching a few children? If it’s too much, send them to their grandmother. Aunt Guo agreed to help, not take over."

Jiang Guoli’s dark expression confirmed Su Xiaoxiao’s suspicion. He had indeed planned to dump the responsibility on Aunt Guo, hoping she would eventually adopt the kids.

"Out!" Jiang Yexun, fed up, grabbed his father by the collar and dragged him out.

Jiang Guoli panicked, "What are you doing? I’m your father! Even if I planned this, it’s not wrong!"

"I don’t agree!" Su Xiaoxiao followed, her face puffed with anger. She had no intention of wasting her resources on ungrateful children.

"You vile woman!" Jiang Guoli cursed Su Xiaoxiao, but before he could finish, Jiang Yexun threw him onto the ground outside.

Stumbling, Jiang Guoli sat down heavily, looking defeated.

Su Xiaoxiao, hands on her hips like a teapot, glared at Jiang Guoli, "If I’m a vile woman, I’ll call my brother and father to beat you up for trying to ruin my relationship with Yexun!"

Aunt Guo followed them out, her voice icy, "Let Jiang Quansheng’s biological mother handle his funeral. As a stepmother, I’ll only be blamed whether I do well or not."

Climbing to his feet, Jiang Guoli wanted to continue his tirade, but Su Xiaoxiao quickly called, "Close the door! Yexun, shut the door! I feel sick just looking at him!"

Jiang Yexun complied, locking the door firmly.

"You heartless lot! What did I do to deserve a family like this?" Jiang Guoli shouted from outside.

Su Xiaoxiao, hopping mad, retorted, "It’s a curse for Aunt Guo and Yexun to be stuck with you! Always scheming, whether it’s for Yexun’s job or to force Aunt Guo to take care of those kids! I’ve met shameless people, but you’re the worst!"
