Kissed and Seduced By the Most Rough Man in the Village-Chapter 149: The Mastermind Behind the Scheme
The man who had been lurking in the crowd clenched his fists tightly beneath his dangling hands. After struggling for a while, he suddenly spoke in a menacing tone, "Who are you? Who gives you the right to meddle in the affairs of this hospital?"
The people who had been unsure of how to refute the arguments earlier chimed in, "Yes! You’re just a girl. When did it become your business to intervene in our matters?"
The gentle expression on Su Xiaoxiao’s face vanished in an instant, and her icy gaze pierced through the crowd, fixing upon the man.
Startled by her intense stare, the man’s face muscles twitched. Just as he was about to return her gaze defiantly, he suddenly saw Jiang Yexun, who had been standing by Su Xiaoxiao’s side all along, striding towards him with determined steps.
He almost instinctively wanted to flee, but it was evident that if he ran, he would be in trouble. So, he loudly questioned, "What are you doing? Do you intend to resort to violence because you can’t win an argument with us?"
However, as he watched Jiang Yexun’s expression grow increasingly dark and menacing, as though he were about to kill him, the man had no choice but to raise his voice, "Help! They’re assaulting me! Help!"
The patients who had gathered there, thinking that they could resort to violence because of their desperation, quickly tried to block Jiang Yexun.
Their frail bodies couldn’t effectively stop Jiang Yexun. Instead, he effortlessly lifted the man like a helpless chick and carried him aside.
When the man saw Jiang Yexun approaching him, he almost instinctively tried to flee. However, he was stopped in his tracks when a firm hand gripped his shoulder tightly.
"Ouch! You’re going to dislocate it!" The man screamed in pain and fell to his knees when Jiang Yexun applied pressure to his shoulder.
Jiang Yexun ignored his cries and tossed him in front of Su Xiaoxiao. The man had no choice but to seek help from Grandpa Zhang, hoping the high-ranking leader could stand up for him.
However, Grandpa Zhang merely furrowed his brow and looked at him with a mix of doubt and curiosity, leaving the man in despair.
Seeing the man’s reaction, Su Xiaoxiao couldn’t help but sneer internally. Grandpa Zhang had experienced many hardships, including facing numerous traitors. They had encountered people with much more sinister intentions than this man. The man’s clumsy tactics could only fool the naive.
"Tell us, who are you and why have you been inciting these patients against the hospital and its leadership?" Su Xiaoxiao questioned in a cold tone.
"I haven’t!" The man clenched his teeth and firmly denied the accusations.
"You don’t need to tell me. Go speak with the national security office." Su Xiaoxiao turned to Grandpa Zhang.
Grandpa Zhang nodded. "Xiaoning, make a call to the director of national security and inform them about the situation."
The man’s face turned pale when he heard this. In just one or two seconds, he tried to use all his strength to push himself up from the ground, apparently trying to escape. However, Su Xiaoxiao was one step ahead, anticipating his move. She raised her foot and pressed it against his shoulder, forcing him back down.
Jiang Yexun also acted swiftly, delivering a strong kick to the man’s waist. The force of the blow was so intense that even Su Xiaoxiao winced in sympathy, fearing that the man might be crippled.
"See, he’s showing his true colors. Why are you so afraid of national security office if you have nothing to hide?" Su Xiaoxiao taunted.
Raising her head, she scanned the crowd, and they all frantically distanced themselves, trying to dissociate from the man.
"We only met him a few times at the hospital, and we knew he had the same illness as us. We didn’t expect him to have issues," one of the patients explained.
However, Su Xiaoxiao didn’t engage with them. Regardless of their motivations, even if they were just being naive, and were led by this man, they were responsible for their actions.
The national security personnel arrived quickly and wasted no time giving these individuals the opportunity to beg. They were promptly arrested and taken away.
After these individuals were taken away, Su Xiaoxiao and the others entered the consultation room. Lin Enyang stole glances at Su Xiaoxiao but struggled to speak.
After waiting for a while and seeing that he didn’t say anything, Su Xiaoxiao met his gaze.
Lin Enyang instinctively straightened his back and then spoke hesitantly, "Comrade Su, those people are truly my patients. They were desperate for a chance at survival, and it wasn’t necessary to involve national security."
"But that troublemaker earlier was definitely targeting me," Su Xiaoxiao emphasized with a stern voice.
"But he has been my patient for three years," Lin Enyang still found it hard to believe.
Su Xiaoxiao helplessly shrugged her shoulders. "Then we’ll have to wait for the investigation results. However, I saw something wrong in his gazes several times. It wasn’t the desire for survival but pure troublemaking."
Lin Enyang didn’t say anything more and seemed to remain somewhat skeptical.
"So they’re not the problem. Did you leak information about Grandpa Zhang’s change in medication?" Jiang Yexun suddenly asked, his expression turning cold and serious.
Evidently, he was dissatisfied with Lin Enyang’s distrust toward his little educated youth.
Lin Enyang was taken aback by the questioning and quickly shook his head to clear himself of suspicion.
"How is that possible? General Zhang has a special status, and I would never disclose any of his medical information or medication details. This isn’t just a matter of personal principles and medical ethics; it’s a breach of discipline that could lead to legal consequences."
"Then if it’s not you, how did they find out? The people in the testing department noticed that Grandpa Zhang’s health had improved and discussed it casually. These people happened to overhear, and that’s how they got wind of it?" Jiang Yexun’s voice grew colder.
"That’s not possible! They are well aware of these principles and wouldn’t make such a mistake," Lin Enyang said confidently.
"Doctor Lin, people can change. We don’t need to concern ourselves with this matter. We’ll have the national security investigate. We won’t falsely accuse them, but we also won’t let anyone with malicious intent go unpunished," Grandpa Zhang, who had been silent until now, suddenly spoke sternly.
"I understand," Lin Enyang replied quickly, not daring to overthink the situation any further.
Then Grandpa Zhang looked at Su Xiaoxiao apologetically. "I’m sorry; our investigation has been too slow, which gave them an opportunity to cause trouble. However, you can trust that we will conduct parallel investigations and ensure peace for you."
"I trust you, Grandpa Zhang. But to ensure everything goes smoothly, if these prescriptions indeed work, I can submit them. However, there must be formal written documents emphasizing that I bear no responsibility during the testing and the subsequent national promotion of the drug. This holds true for any problems or issues that may arise in the future," Su Xiaoxiao said with a stern expression.
