Winston was standing outside the door, just as expected. The moment Yujin saw his face, his complexion went pale, but he opened his mouth with feigned indifference.

"Do you need anything else?"

There was no point in saying more—he wouldn’t listen anyway. In the end, Yujin dropped his shoulders and muttered softly, "No."

The moment the words left his mouth, Winston scooped Yujin up and carried him back to the bed. This time, he placed Yujin on the inside and took the side closest to the door himself.

"Go to sleep."

With that, he wrapped his arms around Yujin’s waist. This time, even his legs tangled with Yujin’s, leaving no room to escape. Yujin’s heart pounded with anxiety.

Did he notice I was trying to run?

No way. That couldn’t be. Yujin immediately denied the thought. This man was just suspicious of his chastity. Though forced to marry because of the pregnancy, if rumors spread about Yujin being promiscuous, Winston’s honor would be tainted.

Of course, that was a complete misunderstanding—but the real problem was that under these circumstances, there was simply no opening to act.

What should I do? Yujin couldn’t sleep, plagued with worry.

By the time morning broke, he was already exhausted. But he couldn’t break his promise to his daughter. Just as he tried to lift his heavy body, Winston grabbed him from behind.

"I told you, you're not going anywhere."

"It’s morning now."

Yujin’s voice was tired.

"Even if there are dozens of men dying to roll around with me, they still have to go to work and make a living."

He meant that it was time to stop now, but of course, that didn’t get through.

What does this man even think I «N.o.v.e.l.i.g.h.t» am?

Yujin suddenly thought. Does he truly believe the whole world wants to sleep with me? That’s ridiculous.

He felt the bitter urge to scoff, but didn’t have the energy. As Winston continued to hold him with no signs of letting go, Yujin finally spoke honestly.

"I promised Angela we'd have breakfast in the nursery. If I don’t go, she’ll worry."

That got a different reaction from Winston. His gaze bored into Yujin, who said in a tired voice,

"I wouldn’t use my child to lie. If you really don’t trust me, ask Cain. I asked him yesterday to prepare breakfast in the nursery."

Winston, who had been staring at Yujin the whole time, sat up. Yujin watched with a completely drained face as he picked up the phone from the side table and called Cain to confirm.

"May I shower now, Your Majesty?"

Yujin asked in a sarcastic tone once Winston had hung up. The only response he got was a slight furrowing of Winston’s brows. Taking that as permission, Yujin hurriedly escaped the bed and headed toward the bathroom.

Just as he was about to open the door, he turned back and quipped,

"If you wake up every time I so much as move in bed, wouldn’t it be better to sleep separately?"

Winston’s face, like Yujin’s, showed clear signs of fatigue. But he got out of bed and answered in a flat voice,

"I don’t care. I barely sleep anyway."

Yeah right.

Yujin figured he was lying. Pheromones of an Extreme Alpha might make them physically superior to ordinary people, but that didn’t mean they could go without sleep.

As Winston poured another glass from the bottle of liquor on the tea table, Yujin stepped into the bathroom, deciding that whatever he did from now on was none of his concern.

No wonder I look like death.

Running a hand down his face, Yujin thought gloomily. If nights like that kept happening, his body would give out first. He still couldn’t figure out Winston’s intentions. Why did he insist on putting himself through something this miserable?

"...Haa."

Startled by his own sigh, Yujin looked toward Angela—just as a knock suddenly rang out. The child’s attention shifted immediately. Yujin let out a breath of relief, but when he saw who had entered, he panicked and quickly looked at Angela’s face.

The child had frozen, staring at the door.

"Angie, come here."

He whispered as he held out his hand. Angela quickly got down from the chair and buried herself in Yujin’s arms.

Winston had taken a few steps into the room but froze at the sight of Angela staring at him with a fearful expression.

A heavy silence fell.

For a while, neither of them said a word.

Winston, as usual, was dressed immaculately in a suit—utterly perfect. Though he, too, had stayed up all night, there wasn’t a single sign of fatigue on his face.

Yujin couldn’t help but feel a bit awed.

Is this the difference that makes them so praised?

"Daddy."

Angela whispered from within his arms.

Snapping out of his thoughts, Yujin was the first to speak.

"What is it? Did you need something from me?"

His tone naturally came out sharp.

Winston didn’t respond. His gaze drifted to the tea table, then returned to them.

Angela flinched in his arms, her eyes instantly welling up with tears.

"Angie, it’s okay. Calm down." fгeewebnovёl.com

Yujin tried to soothe her, but it only made things worse. Angela burst into sobs.

Wailing loudly, she buried her face in Yujin’s chest.

Alarmed, Yujin held her tightly and snapped.

"If you have nothing to say, get out! You’re making her cry! It’s your fault!"

"What?"

Winston looked at him in disbelief.

In truth, all he had done was walk in and look at them.

But for a child, that was more than enough to feel terrified.

Yujin continued trying to comfort Angela, but she wouldn't stop crying.

"Nooo, that smell, I hate it! It’s scary... Waaah!"

At last, with Angela screaming like she might faint, Winston turned and walked out.

It was the first time he had visibly admitted defeat.

Yujin was surprised—but calming the child took priority.

"It’s okay, Angie. He’s gone. Mr. Campbell left, so there’s nothing to be afraid of now. Let’s stop crying, okay?"

He kissed the top of her head and soothed her gently.

Only then did her sobs gradually subside.

Sniffling, Angela lifted her eyes and cautiously scanned the room.

Realizing Winston was no longer there, she finally stopped crying—though it turned into quiet weeping.

"Drink some water, Angie. That’s it."

He quickly brought the cup to her lips, and Angela obediently drank.

Though still catching her breath, at least she had stopped crying.

"Are you that scared of Mr. Campbell?"

Once she had calmed down a bit, Yujin asked. Angela gave a small nod.

It seemed Winston’s pheromone scent had triggered a trauma response in her.

Yujin sighed deeply and pulled her tightly into his arms.

After the chaos earlier, Yujin was completely drained by the afternoon.

Angela, who had been reading a picture book, called out to him as he dozed off in his chair.

"Daddy, what’s wrong? Are you sleepy?"

Yujin opened his eyes at her voice and let out a sigh.

"Sorry, Angie. I’m just tired."

"It’s okay, Daddy. Come on. I’ll let you use my bed."

Angela cheerfully grabbed his arm and tugged.

Yujin gave a faint smile and lay down as she told him.

Angela climbed up onto the bed, pulled the blanket up to his neck, and patted his chest.

"Lullaby, lullaby."

"Thank you, Angie. Daddy’s just going to sleep for an hour, okay?"

"Okay! Hurry and sleep. Close your eyes."

With her tiny hand, she gently lowered his eyelids.

Doing as she asked, Yujin soon drifted into a deep sleep.

Angela carefully climbed down from the bed, trying not to wake him.

Daddy must be really tired.

Looking at his pale face, Angela fell into thought.

Is there anything I can do to help him feel better?

"Hmm..."

With a serious expression, she suddenly had an idea.

Her eyes sparkled.

Making sure not to make a sound, she tiptoed out of the room and gently closed the door—then took off running down the hallway.

"Angie, where are you going?"

Cain, passing by, spotted her and asked. Angela shouted as she bounded down the stairs.

"I’m going to get Daddy a present!"

"Angie!"

Watching her race across the large hall, Cain called out,

"They said it’s going to rain this afternoon—don’t go too far!"

"Okaaay!"

Angela shouted back and burst out the front door.

As black clouds gathered overhead, a sharp light and ominous rumble echoed through the sky.
