Kiss the Scumbag-Chapter 2
“Why the hell is that bastard coming back? What does he want?”
At that, Jason, who had been drinking in a corner, snickered and laughed.
“Plenty, I bet. The old man’s dead, so he’s here to grab a fat slice of the pie, obviously.”
“Watch your mouth, Jason. Show some respect.”
Camellia Campbell’s voice cut coldly across the room as she scolded her son, then continued in her usual composed, sharp tone.
“Only Attorney McCoy knows what’s in Harold’s will. He’s the one who contacted ‘him,’ too.”
She put emphasis on the word him, then clamped her mouth shut. It was clear she was exerting great effort not to say Yujin’s name aloud, as though even speaking it would tarnish her dignity or leave filth on her lips. Only Georgina seemed to catch the intent behind her careful wording.
“There’s no need to treat someone like that as a human being, Mother! Where the hell is that bastard McCoy? In a mess like this, shouldn’t he be doing something?!”
As Gordon shouted, Lady Katherine flapped her handkerchief and said,
“He must’ve gone to fetch it. I’m sure he doesn’t plan on showing his face here until the day the will is read.”
Lady Katherine wouldn’t even acknowledge him as a person. Georgina thought “it” was a bit much, but before she could dwell on it, Gordon exploded again.
“Don’t tell me he’s siding with that bastard? How dare he? How could he?!”
“McCoy is the executor of the will, Gordon.”
Camellia explained again, her voice calm but firm. That only inflamed Gordon further.
“You’re saying McCoy is bringing that bastard here? Seriously?”
“I told you—his name is in the will.”
Lady Katherine pointed it out, her face twisted in open disgust. Gordon shouted back, louder.
“That’s what doesn’t make any fucking sense!”
His voice rang through the parlor in waves. Pacing furiously, Gordon cursed under his breath.
“You seriously believe he’s our relative? Come on! Everyone knows that’s just some bullshit story Father made up! That guy has nothing to do with the Campbell family. No rights. No claim!”
Everyone silently agreed with his rage, but reality said otherwise. Camellia opened her mouth.
“Regardless of how we feel, if his name is in Harold’s will, then we have to follow it.”
“Fuck!”
“Gordon, watch your language.”
But the warning only caused the curse to burst out even harder. Lady Katherine recoiled in shock, eyes wide, but her brother ignored her. He clawed at his hair, messing it up, then yanked his tie loose in frustration.
“What are we going to do? Let that bastard step foot in this house again?”
“Calm yourself, Gordon. You need to be more rational.”
“Then maybe Mother should explain something,” Gordon sneered, turning on her. “Isn’t this going to be hardest on you? What if Winston finds out about that?”
The room turned cold in an instant. When Georgina saw Camellia’s face freeze into a mask of blank stillness, she felt a chill crawl down her spine. As heavy tension filled the room, Lady Katherine tried to cut in, glancing nervously between them.
“Winston won’t find out. He can’t. Either way, we need to get it out of here as soon as possible. Father’s gone, so there’s no reason for it to be here. Let’s confirm the will and throw it out. Everyone keep your mouths shut.”
“Jason, you’re the biggest problem.”
Gordon turned the fire toward his brother.
“Be careful. Don’t get high and screw things up.”
Before he even finished, Jason let out another giggle and tipped the bottle straight to his lips, chugging the liquor greedily. Gordon glared at him in disgust and growled,
“Why don’t we just lock the bastard up in a hospital while Yujin’s here?”
“No.”
Camellia snapped sharply.
“Jason’s only been out of treatment for a month. You really want to commit your brother again?”
Gordon believed it was the best option for everyone, but he wasn’t about to argue with his mother. As worthless a junkie as Jason might be, he was still her son. To Gordon, he was nothing but dead weight.
Georgina watched her uncle silently clamp his mouth shut. The adults were clearly hiding something. Whatever it was, she was the only one here who didn’t know. She had just turned fifteen, and she couldn’t hold back her curiosity any longer. She blurted out,
“What is that thing you keep talking about?”
“Oh my goodness!”
Lady Katherine shrieked in over-the-top horror. Even Camellia turned her head sharply, something she rarely did. Gordon froze mid-rant, and even the drunken Jason widened his eyes in alarm. All eyes turned toward her.
“Georgina, how long have you been there?”
George’s voice trembled with panic. His embarrassment was obvious. Georgina observed his reaction with interest and replied,
“About an hour. Anyway, what’s this thing Winston can’t find out?”
“There’s no such thing.”
Camellia’s voice turned frostier than ever as she stood from her seat. Her tall frame cast a shadow over the still-seated Georgina as she looked down with steely disdain.
“Eavesdropping without a sound is vulgar. And repeating what you overhear by accident is even more vulgar. Do you understand?”
Georgina instantly recognized this for what it was: a threat. Rebellion surged in her chest, but she had no intention of stirring things up just yet. She had no way of handling the consequences.
And besides, she didn’t really know anything yet.
So instead of pushing back, she stood up with a sweet smile, slid one foot behind the other, and bent slightly at the knees into a curtsy.
“Of course, Your Majesty.”
Her tone was dripping with mockery, and Camellia clearly caught the sarcasm. Her brow twitched, but she turned away without a word. Knowing there was nothing more to overhear, Georgina walked out of the sitting room. Not a single adult spoke a word until the door clicked shut behind her.
Out in the hall, Georgina headed toward the annex where Lady Katherine and George lived. She regretted not staying longer to hear more, but one thing was certain—Yujin’s return was going to stir this dull old mansion in a big way. For better or worse. These adults needed some shaking up. Humming lightly to herself, she walked on.
Back inside, Lady Katherine stared at the door for a while, only speaking once she felt it was safe.
“She’s still just a child. She probably doesn’t even know what she heard.”
“She’s fifteen. That’s not that young. Some people were married by then—granted, they divorced two years later,” Gordon said dryly.
Lady Katherine glared with rare venom in her eyes. George hurriedly stepped between them.
“Anyway, we’ll keep Georgina in line. Let’s focus on the matter at hand. We’re not here to talk about Georgina—we’re here because of Yujin, aren’t we?”
That, after all, was why they’d gathered. Camellia turned and spoke in her usual calm voice. freēnovelkiss.com
“There’s not much to talk about. He’s obviously after money. We’ll wait for the right moment, throw him a few crumbs, and he’ll disappear on his own. In the meantime, everyone keep your mouths shut.”
She scanned the room before continuing.
“As you all know, the one thing we must not allow is for Winston to find out about that incident.”
Silence fell. Everyone held their breath as Gordon, cautiously watching Camellia’s reaction, finally spoke up.
“If Winston’s in his right mind, there’s no way he forgot that he almost died because of that bastard. And even if he has feelings left, they’re not good ones.”
He sounded certain—more than usual—as he raised his voice slightly.
“Don’t worry, Mother. The reason he broke off the engagement with Evelyn in the first place was because of the trauma from that ➤ NоvеⅠight ➤ (Read more on our source) incident, wasn’t it? Now that he’s recovered, maybe it’s time to start that conversation again. Evelyn’s still single, and if it’s her, Winston won’t say no.”
