The moment Yujin saw that scene, he froze completely. Through his wide-open gaze, he saw Winston slowly submerge his body up to his shoulders. When Winston turned his head and asked something to the child, who was soaked up to the knees, Angela nodded and replied. Then Winston disappeared entirely beneath the water, and Angela naturally floated by herself.

“Kyaahaha!”

Soon after, Yujin saw the child laughing and screaming happily as she splashed across the water. Stretching her arms out like airplane wings, she moved back and forth across the large jacuzzi in a way that clearly wasn’t something she could do alone. After a few laps, Winston suddenly surfaced right beneath her.

Dripping all over, he rose up from the water, and Angela burst into giggles. Incredibly, Winston laughed too. Then Yujin saw it—Winston naturally lowered Angela into his arms and kissed her cheek. That in itself was shocking, but even more astonishing was that Angela didn’t reject him.

“I don’t need Papa.”

That voice from the child brushed past Yujin’s ears, and suddenly he felt uneasy. What on earth was going on? Though flustered, the two kept splashing and playing in the water as if nothing was wrong.

Perhaps tired from all the playing in the water during the day, Angela went to bed early and fell asleep deeply. After putting the child to bed, Yujin came out of the room and, following Winston who had headed first to his room, finally spoke words he had held in all day.

“Since when did you start liking the child so much?”

Winston, just opening the bedroom door, turned to look at him. His eyes filled with distrust as he stared back, and Winston asked calmly as usual, without much emotion.

“What’s wrong with caring for your own child?”

“It’s a problem because she’s not your child.”

Even as he spoke, Yujin felt his heart about to burst. Afraid his voice might have trembled, he hesitated, but Winston answered smoothly.

“She’s my child. You married me.”

If Winston hadn’t spoken immediately afterward, Yujin might have fainted. He felt some relief inwardly, but his heart that had lied didn’t calm down. Struggling to keep calm, Yujin continued.

“You’re going to break up with me anyway, right? Even if you get close to the child, it won’t do you any good.”

This time, no answer came immediately. After a few seconds of silence, Winston spoke.

“I’m going back to the family home tomorrow. You’re coming with me.”

Yujin paused at that. His eyes wide open, he stammered belatedly.

“W-what? With me too?”

“Yeah.”

Winston’s short answer was soon followed by a mocking tone.

“You didn’t really want to live on this island forever, did you?”

“Of course not!”

Yujin immediately denied it but could not bring himself to feel happy. Everything was surprising: Angela, the suddenness of it all. Why {N•o•v•e•l•i•g•h•t} now? What is he thinking? Confused, Yujin listened as Winston continued.

“I never intended to keep you locked up here forever. I just judged that you’d reflected enough and it’s okay to go back now.”

The tone was as if he was doing a favor. Yujin sneered and asked sarcastically.

“Should I thank you for your mercy? Thank you, Your Highness. I’m utterly grateful for such great kindness that I don’t know how to repay you.”

Raising his tone exaggeratedly and placing a hand on his chest, he exclaimed, then furrowed his brows as if utterly disgusted. Winston, looking at the mocking Yujin expressionlessly, said,

“I’m looking into kindergartens for Angie.”

Startled by the sudden word, Yujin blinked.

“Kindergarten?”

“Yeah.”

Winston continued calmly.

“She made friends at the birthday party, right? At kindergarten, she’ll meet them again and won’t be stuck alone at home bored.”

Glancing at Yujin’s belly, he added,

“You’ll be able to rest a bit more too.”

The meaningful look sent a chill down Yujin’s spine. Should he tell him now? ...No, there’s no need.

Having barely gained permission to leave the island, what if he confessed and Winston flew into a rage and locked him away on the island again? He could easily set aside a little conscience. What did it matter?

Think of it as the price for what that man did and said to you.

Winston might lose everything if he wasn’t careful, but Yujin decided to just close his eyes. There was no other choice.

But doubts still remained. Keeping his wary gaze fixed, Yujin asked.

“So that’s the reason I’m supposed to leave the island? Why?”

When he was locked up arbitrarily, why did he suddenly change his mind?

Winston asked back with a smile.

“You want to see the kindergarten Angie will go to, don’t you?”

Of course. But Yujin never imagined that man would consider that. Unable to answer, Yujin just watched Winston’s crooked smile.

“Don’t forget, you can always come back here.”

That phrase was an answer in itself. Winston was owning him. Yujin would never escape from his hands. But that arrogance only fueled Yujin’s resistance. He thought, I’ll get out somehow and see that man’s face twisted in anger. Then corrected himself.

I might not see it myself, but I can imagine it.

Just recalling that moment made him feel better. Passing Winston, who entered the bedroom first, Yujin grabbed the bathroom door handle, and Winston said,

“When we get back, we’ll throw a party.”

“Party?”

Yujin turned without thinking, and Winston picked up a bottle of liquor from the table and replied,

“We’ll have to tell everyone we’re expecting a second child. They’re all waiting.”

Yujin literally froze. For a moment, he even forgot to breathe, but Winston, facing away, didn’t notice. Soon regaining his composure, Yujin said nothing and hurried into the bathroom.

Calm down, it’s okay.

Seeing his trembling hand adjust the water temperature, he took a deep breath. It was something he had to go through anyway. He just had to pretend not to know calmly.

But could he even deceive Lady Campbell?

Her cold eyes seemed to grasp Yujin’s heart. For some reason, Winston seemed to believe he was pregnant, but what about Lady Campbell? Would she believe such terrible talk from her hateful husband? Or would she never believe the mistress’s words?

He couldn’t even imagine which it would be. All he knew for sure was that things were growing unexpectedly big, and he must escape as soon as possible.

I have to come up with a plan fast.

Lost in thought, Yujin stood under the pouring water. The biggest variable right now was the man drinking alone outside. Without imagining the future at all, he sighed deeply in frustration.

At the estate, the butler collected all the mail and brought it to Lady Katherine at once. While leisurely enjoying afternoon tea and checking the pile of envelopes one by one, she suddenly stopped at one. Using a paper knife, she carefully tore the corner of the envelope and examined the contents. Until then expressionless, her face changed afterward. Slowly straightening her back from the chair where she had been leaning, her eyes darted back and forth quickly as she checked the contents repeatedly. Georgina, sitting across from her mother, watched with curiosity. Finally, Lady Katherine turned pale and abruptly stood up. Then Georgina cautiously spoke.

“What is it, Mother?”

Reaching across the table, she sneakily checked the envelope’s exterior, and Lady Katherine murmured.

“My goodness, this can’t be... how could this happen?”

Breathless from her reaction, Georgina wondered if her mother might faint again. After checking the butler’s location and looking again at the envelope, Lady Katherine said,

“Winston is throwing a party... He says there’s a baby on the way, too.”
