“Hmm.”

Yujin cleared his throat awkwardly to break the silence. Winston’s gaze locked onto him. Feeling uncomfortable for some reason, Yujin avoided eye contact and spoke hesitantly.

“Um, what are you doing? Aren’t you going to eat dinner?”

Winston slowly stretched his body and spoke in a measured tone. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

“I’m going.”

But despite saying that, he didn’t actually stand up. When Yujin hesitated under his gaze as if asking why he even came, he opened his mouth.

“Um, I have something to talk about... Can we do it during dinner?”

Just as Yujin tried to back away slightly, Winston glanced at the empty seat opposite and made another suggestion.

“How about we talk over a drink? Sit down.”

Only then did Yujin notice whiskey and glasses on the table. Since extreme alphas hardly get drunk no matter how much they drink, it was okay for Winston to have strong alcohol, but Yujin was different. If he got drunk, he’d just miss his chance.

Still, just talking outright was...

After a moment’s thought, he nodded. Setting a good mood before the talk wasn’t a bad idea. Besides, alcohol would surely give him courage. It was okay to postpone the meal. And if he got too drunk to speak, there was always tomorrow.

It didn’t seem like they’d get anywhere serious in this mood anyway.

Deciding, Yujin sat opposite. Waiting for Winston to pour the whiskey into the glass, he raised it with a “thanks,” but immediately frowned. Before drinking, the sharp scent of alcohol hit his nose. He barely wet his lips and put the glass down. Winston didn’t hesitate to empty half the glass in one gulp.

Did he always drink that much...?

Suddenly Yujin recalled: no matter how much the trait helped with tolerance, Winston drank far too much. Taking painkillers stronger than anyone could imagine, wasn’t it excessive?

“Um...”

Yujin started to speak but stopped. It felt like unnecessary interference, so words wouldn’t come easily. Though their atmosphere had improved lately, their relationship wasn’t that close yet. Winston stared silently at him, as if urging him to say what he needed to. Hesitating, Yujin finally lowered his hand and muttered, “It’s nothing.”

Oh no, that was my chance to speak.

Just as he realized, the opportunity came back immediately.

“Did something happen today? You seem happy.”

At Winston’s question, Yujin perked up. Winston always asked if anything happened when he came home, but the answer was never anything special. Staying home all day with Angela, what big event could there be?

But today was different. Maybe it showed on his face, for Winston’s question carried a slight change. Yujin couldn’t hold back the smile that came out naturally, covering his mouth with both hands as he chuckled softly.

“Yes, something. A very good thing.”

His cheeks flushed involuntarily, eyes sparkling. This lively look was the first since returning to the mansion. Winston stared at him silently for a moment.

“What happened?”

Winston’s slow tone made Yujin chuckle again. Was the liquor from earlier finally hitting him? He kept laughing uncontrollably. Smiling happily, Yujin said,

“It’s a secret. Guess.”

Suddenly wanting to tease him, if Winston asked curiously, he might pretend and then tell him. Watching Yujin giggle, Winston, silent for a moment, opened his mouth.

“You went out during the day, right?”

“Huh?”

Yujin made an absent-minded sound but quickly realized. Everything happening in the house would be reported to Winston. He must already know Yujin went out alone, leaving Angela behind.

Still, he wouldn’t guess why.

Puffing out his chest confidently, Yujin nodded.

“Yes, I went out.”

“To that members-only French restaurant.”

He had only just realized it was members-only, but it didn’t matter much. Yujin smirked playfully.

“You never took me anywhere like that.”

I went by myself. At the publishing editor’s invitation, to talk about work.

Every following word was beautiful. “Seol Yujin, I’m so proud of you!” Fireworks exploded in his mind. Seeing him like that, Winston narrowed his eyes.

“So you found another man? To take you to a restaurant like that?”

“Uh...”

Not exactly wrong. After all, meeting someone like that on his own was true. Though he had never aimed for that restaurant from the start.

Unfortunately, Winston didn’t mean it that way, but Yujin was too caught up in his feelings to notice.

“You probably can’t even imagine.”

His lips broke into a smile spontaneously. Unable to hold back, Yujin covered his mouth with both hands and laughed again. Watching him happily lost for words, Winston just looked on.

“Baby, sadly you’re right.”

Then he spoke in a sweet voice.

“I deal with you every day, yet you still go fishing for other men.”
