Kingdom Building: Civilization Starts with Divinity-Chapter 112: Mimic Invasion(3)
’Cursed Armors. It seems to be a weird variant, but it doesn’t feel pain and has that same regeneration ability. Meaning, I just need to find its core, right?’ Alchemy mused.
A single question remained. Where was the core?
The mounted knight began his charge once again. As it got close to Alchemy, she slammed her foot down and destroyed the ground beneath them.
It wasn’t enough to stop the mimic in its tracks, but the unsteady ground clearly slowed its advance.
Alchemy rushed into the air, meeting the knight at eye level. The knight’s molten lance began to glow even brighter as he swung it horizontally at Alchemy. The bright light became a beam of ruin as all of the nearby trees got perfectly cut in half.
As the swing came, Alchemy moved like a snake, straightening her body to slip under the concentrated death ray narrowly. Once she got in, the knight couldn’t do much to her, not in time, at least.
She curved around behind him before activating both her reinforcement and aura. Once again, she altered her rotation in the air and used the extra force generated to slam her leg into the armor’s neck, causing his helmet to be sent flying.
|<Skill: Phantom Knife has been activated!>|
Before hitting the ground, it collided with a previously placed Phantom Knife as Alchemy placed three new ones. The helmet was cut entirely in half, but the knight remained mobile.
"Not the head, huh?" She said, thrusting her hand through its chest as if she was trying to steal their heart, but there was nothing.
"Not there either?" She clicked her tongue.
The knight tried to retaliate, but Alchemy tore off his entire arm before it could move its weapon any meaningful distance. At the same time, his chest cavity and helmet were beginning to repair themselves.
"You’re lucky!" Alchemy shouted, tearing his other arm off as well before splitting it in half and knocking the knight off its horse.
"That all you did!" She stomped the horse into the ground before shattering the knight’s breastplate.
"Was scare her!"
She used one of his plated legs, slamming it into the other several times, until an eerie black smoke-filled gemstone revealed itself.
"I can still grant you with a quick death." She stated solemnly, crushing the gemstone in her hand.

Letting out a deep breath, Alchemy deactivated her techniques and checked the wave progress.

"Two of them were already defeated... The Verminae are holding up well."
She was a little worried due to their relatively small numbers, but none of the mimics have been particularly dangerous.
The Lanky demons that were immune to physical damage were a little scary, but both Emberbugs and Frostcarvers did Divine Damage with their skills.
With that said, she rushed toward Sapphire, who was still feared and panicked.
Without any other ideas about what to do, Alchemy embraced the deer in a hug.
"It’s Sapphire! I’m here. I defeated the thing. Please, calm down."
Aside from Gravana’s pressure, she and Nera could easily resist any attempt to fear them. She hadn’t really considered the possibility that Sapphire, who was still extremely young, would have trouble resisting even low to mid-tier debuffs.
"M-Master Alchemy? I-I-I... I messed up, didn’t I?" Sapphire questioned.
"No, Sapphire! No, you didn’t calm down.

"See, Sapphire? We won. You’re fine."
If nothing else, Alchemy was glad that they were given a bit more time to prepare, but this was becoming an issue fast.
She was placing Phantom Knives since it seemed like a more efficient use of her SP with the increasing number of weak monsters, but her resources were getting relatively low.
She had the World Tree to restore her status once, but without knowing how many more waves there were, she couldn’t use it willy-nilly. The same issue arose with Supplication.
"I-I’m so sorry, Master Alchemy."
Alchemy’s eyes grew even more grim.
’Christ. I never imagined that the effects of fear would be so potent. What will happen if we’re affected by the stronger mental debuffs?’ Alchemy questioned.
It all made sense in hindsight, but parts of her still took things for granted. In A.O.A, Fear was never anything more than a stat debuff, but in reality, it’s something capable of awakening someone’s deepest nightmares and traumas.
Especially for someone as young and meek as Sapphire.
"Okay, just bear with me, Sapphire." Alchemy sighed, picking up the young deer.
’The Holy Water River will help.’ She thought, dashing toward it.
Luckily, they were stationed right next to it. Or Nera may have seen this as a possibility and placed Sapphire here.
The reason didn’t matter. What did was getting Sapphire back under control.
Alchemy watched the timer tick down to 10 seconds as they got to the river.
"Just wait here and recover for a bit, okay? No, if you don’t want to, you don’t have to reenter the fight."
Sapphire looked at Alchemy, and her despair only grew. The one silver lining was that her doubts and insecurities seemed to paralyze her.
At least she wouldn’t run out of the lake until the healing effects did their job.
With Sapphire in the water, Alchemy sprinted back to the portals. The mimics have already begun leaving the portal, and this time, all of them came together.
When she returned, the Type 1-3 knights had already triggered the Web Spewer trap.
Her first order of business was knocking one of the knights off their horse.
The second noticed her and used his death ray ability right away.
Grabbing the knight that she had next to her, she threw it into the death ray, dealing with one of them right away.
"It’s so much easier when there’s two of you."
