Kaijin Fighter: So I Have to Make Monsters, So What?-Chapter 1564: Delicious BBQ...

As Zhen Liu and Lythero were hunting their assigned buffalo...

[Hey, looks like the maestro has finally decided on a strategy,] Hurricroak commented.

[He sure took awhile, though] Frosttusk rumbled.

[To be fair, he's doing this without us supporting him or taking his place in the fight,] Nepherage commented. [He's fighting at less than full power.]

[Then shouldn't that mean it's easier for him?]

[Eh.]

Long before Zhen Liu and his mortal allies had finished taking down their respective targets, Nepherage and the other kaijin had already finished killing their target buffalo.

Right now, the Ragnarockers were sitting upon the ice-cold corpse of a Long Horn Molten Iron Buffalo; Frosttusk had frozen the beast solid after sapping all of its heat at once.

[Eh, I don't mind how the director kills the beast; we're still going to be the ones who will have to clean the damn things up.] Razorstella commented as she flicked her knife-like claws clean of blood.

Next to the Ragnarocker's frozen buffalo corpse, the kaijin of Mysticlassic were sitting on a buffalo that looked like it was sleeping. In reality, Screamira had released a potent death aether enhanced scream directly into its ears and rattled it's brain so badly that Springerdermain managed to end it's life eby simply tripping it.

Needless to say, the kaijin had secured the two largest buffalo in the herd and were not waiting for the rest of the mortals to finish their own hunts. After which, it was preparation time.

[So...do y'all wanna take bets on which team is going to win this thing or nah?] Hurricroak asked.

[Isn't it implied that we won because we're already sitting here?] Screamira retorted.

[No, actually,] Nepherage interjected. [Blazejudicator determined that Rianna and Jinju Ren had taken down their target before any of us, and we're actually a second behind the Zhen Clan scions. We might have them beat in terms of quality, though.]

[Ah.]

Directing their gazes elsewhere, they saw that while Zhen Liu was in the process of aggravating a buffalo to come and charge at him, Olstenna and Antonio were using a strategy that involved the latter acting like bait.

It was a good thing these Long Horn Molten Iron Buffalo were herbivores, otherwise this would've gone incredibly bad for the son of a cat kaijin.

[Have the curators figure out who precisely was the cat that raised Antonio, or not yet?] Springerdermain asked.

[No, not yet,] Frosttusk confirmed. [And they're taking an active pause from such things due to the jarl wanting to maintain a more relaxed pace for the time being.]

[Right...wait a minute...]

As the kaijin continued to watch, they saw that Antonio and Olstenna had taken down their buffalo but hadn't immediately returned to the designated drop-off point with their kill. Instead, it appeared as if they were going to explore something that the former had spotted while they were in the middle of their hunt.

[What are they doing?]

[Where are they going?]

Their instincts as kaijin told them that they weren't going to be any danger if left alone to their own devices.

However, the lot of them couldn't help but shake the feeling that something ominous was brewing.

[Should we go after—oh, never mind. They're back.]

As soon as the kaijin thought about chasing after Olstenna and Lythero to determine what had attracted them, the duo had already returned with expressions that suggested it wasn't anything terrible. That stated, they were certain that whatever they found was going to be a topic of discussion during lunch.

[Alright, let's go back and get ready for preparing these buffalo,] Nepherage declared as she moved to pick up the slaughtered beast. [Wait, do you think we'll Need vegetables?]

[I'm pretty sure we have some in our travel packs.]

[Right.]

Soon after they made this observation, Zhen Liu and Lythero finally finished off their targeted buffalo as well.

Showing a surprising amount of coordination, the two warriors performed a double sword strike that slashed open the buffalo's guts and ruptured several major arteries.

As luck would have it, though, the carcass landed in its back and prevented it's insides from getting any dirtier.

[Okay, now it looks like it's time for us to get to cooking,] Nepherage noted.

[Yeah...,] Razorstella groaned since she knew she was going to be the one that would have to carve up the carcasses. [Now that I think about it, how come we don't have a chef kaijin?]

[Can't find the right desire or material,] Screamira stated as if it was a matter of fact.

[Hmmm.]

Regardless of any griping, the kaijin made their way back to their Lord and his mortal companions.

...BBQ Time…

[And the winner of this contest is…Rianna and Jinju Ren! As your prize, you get first dibs on whatever prime cuts and prizes we can get our collective mitts on once the Executor and his family finish processing everything.]

"Woo!" Rianna cheered.

"Oooh, we get to eat Zhen Liu's meat? Delicious," Jinju Ren joked.

Working in tandem with Razorstella, Zhen Liu, Zhen Xing, and Zhen Tai went to work on processing all of the buffalo carcasses for both food and cultivation material.

There wasn't much overlap in that regard, thankfully, so all of the processed meat could be used as food while all the material bits like the hide, horns, and cores could be kept.

All in all, they only needed two buffalo for their current feast, so the rest were sent to the Library of Nowhere where it could be stored. Except for two more of the carcasses, which were saved for Jasper, Janice, Axer, Lyona, and Taurna.

Once everything was fully processed, Zhen Liu went about seasoning and preparing the meat for outdoor barbecuing.

He didn't have the exact ingredients to mimic Korean BBQ exactly, but he did manage to find some good substitutes amongst the native ingredients and a little assistance from Logos and Pathos. Once everything was prepared just right, he and Blazejudicator prepared the fire pit, wire grill and charcoal and gave the floor to Jinju Ren and Rianna to have the first plate.

They had been given a rundown on how this worked beforehand, so they immediately placed down the pieces they wanted to eat first.

The smell of melting fat and sweet spices floated in the air, stimulating the hunger of everyone present, including the kaijin. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

"Damn, that smells really good," Zhen Xing said as he breathed in the scented air. "No wonder Xiao Liu wanted to eat this so badly."

Once the pieces were ready, Jinju Ren and Rianna plucked off their pieces from the grill and popped it into their mouths.

Silence filled the air as the girls quietly ate the meat.

"Well? What do you think?" Zhen Liu asked, worried that he might've fucked up the seasoning.

Seconds later, both of the girls let out sighs of contentment.

"Wow...I never had meat this tender or flavorful before," Jinju Ren praised. "Its better than any royal dish I've ever had."

"This seasoning is fantastic," Rianna added. "I bet that if you used it on a giant caterpillar steak, the taste would be even better than usual."

"I think that sort of thing is tasted better fried or steamed, but I am happy that you guys enjoy the meat so much," Zhen Liu said in response to the praise, feeling mildly embarrassed. "Be sure to also eat some veggies or rice to keep the palette clean."

"Sure, sure!"

"Are we allowed to eat now?" Zhen Tai, doing his best to fight back his own drool.

Zhen Liu exchanged a quick glance with the girls, who then nodded in agreement.

"Come on guys, let's get cooking!"

After that, the feasting began in earnest as everyone, including the kaijin, began to grill and eat their own pieces of delicious prepared cuts of meat.

The sound of grilling meat and satisfied groans of eating filled the air and made the entire area jovial.

"This technique is kind of similar to Stampeding Bison style cooking, but the flavors are undoubtedly unlike anything I've ever seen," Zhen Xing noted. "Hell, we could make a lot of money back home if we had restaurants sell stuff like this."

"You really think people would pay to have to cook their own food?" Zhen Tai asked.

"I do."

"It's not as spicy as Dozing Salamander style barbecue, but I do see the appeal," Olstenna commented after he grabbed a piece of grilled brisket. "Kind of wish we had some flatbread or something to go along with it."

"I think rice would suit this stuff better," Lythero replied as he placed a piece into a leafy vegetable. "This combination works too though."

"Dude, you gotta try it with the fattier pieces. It works so much better," Antonio commented as he did so with a piece of beef belly.

[I know we don't need to eat, but this stuff is great,] Springerdermain said for himself and his fellow kaijin, as the rest were too busy eating.

A satisfied smile began to form on Zhen Liu's face as he watched the feasting faces.

"Yeah...this was worth it."
