Kaijin Fighter: So I Have to Make Monsters, So What?-Chapter 1200: The Unexpected Duo
When the Kaijin approached the Zhen Clan with their offer, they had assumed that they would request the presence of one of the elders to assist.
This would’ve put a delay on handling some recent public issues, as well as the now restarted conquestiong of the [Lost Monkey Temple] wandering ruins, but rescuing one of their own took priority and needed as much power as they could technically afford.
Which is why everyone was shocked when the Kaijin stated that they would be taking along Zhen Xing and Zhen Tai, the Third and Fifth young masters of the Zhen Clan.
However, this shock didn’t last too long once Nepeherage explained her reasoning.
"Y’all need to handle all of the damage that was caused by the Beast Tide and digest any gains from it, so international travel at this time is less than ideal. Besides, since these two are the only ones among the scions that can use Ignarii aether, it would make sense for them to come with us to the continent that specializes in the stuff, yes?"
Those words, and one boat ride later,Zhen Xing and Zhen Tai found themselves in the town of Amber Shore while accompanied by a group of human disguised Kaijin and one disgruntled looking Olstenna.
The Ignarii was supposed to act like their guide in Dozing Salamander, but he had gotten incredibly seasick and needed bedrest for the evening.
Regardless, as the Zhen Clan scions took in the sight, sounds and smells of this brand new location, Zhen Xing and Zhen Tai couldn’t help but feel a little out of place.
This was the first time they had ever been somewhere they weren’t familiar with the language...sort of.
Prior to arriving to port, the Kaijin made sure to possess both Zhen Tai and Zhen Xing long enough for the basics of Scorch Talk to be drilled into their skulls. It mostly worked, but they still flubbed some things.
^Hello, I would like a kobob,^ Zhen Xing said in practice.
^Kebab,^ Zhen Tai corrected.
"How the hell are you able to pick this up so fast?"
"I don’t fucking know."
Regardless, now that they had arrived to the isthmus connecting Stampeding Bison to Dozing Salamander, they could go about on trying to reunite with Zhen Liu in Papaya Town!
At least, that was the original plan.
Unfortunately, Zhen Liu was no longer in Papaya Town.
While the two Zhen Clan scions weren’t exactly clear on the details, they learned the Kaijin were able to relay real time information to each other about whatever they were experiencing at any given moment. This would normally include Zhen Liu, but because of unclear reasons, they were unable to do so save for the most basic of visual information.
It was actually due to this visual information that the Zhen Clan and Kaijin were in Amber Shore in the first place.
Because the last concrete piece of information they had to go off of, was that Zhen Liu was with some guy, travelling to Amber Shore.
The reason for this destination became clear as the Zhen Clan scions and Kaijin immersed themselves into the scene and learned from fellow travelers.
...
"Alright, young masters. After spending some time talking to the local merchants and passer-by, we have learned that about an hour’s walk away is a wandering ruin that appears to be allowing anybody below a rank equal or less than the Aether King stage," Springer(Springerdermain) explained. "Additional reports indicate that the resources being pulled from said ruins are mainly alchemical in nature. Hence why there are so many larger factions as opposed to lesser ones."
"Ah...pity we didn’t bring Zhen Feng along for this then," Zhen Xing commented.
"Or the butler. He would’ve been perfect for this,"Zhen Tai added.
At this moment in time, the two scions of the Zhen Clan were seated at an outdoor table for a restaurant that had a named that loosely translated to "The Grill".
The Kaijin had suggested that the scions remain in a single location while they scouted about.
They would normally be okay with their human companions being separated, but they’d rather not risk losing them in the same manner as their lord.
Regardless, Springerdermain was the first to return and report back to the young masters, so he decided to join them. Technically speaking, all of the kaijin should’ve been back by now, but there was a good reason for these absences.
"So where are...Nefira, Mira and Raquel?," Zhen Tai asked while still unsure of their names.
"Yeah, that’s right," Zhen Xing confirmed.
"The three of them are currently scouting out the rest of the port town for any locations of interest," Springer explained "We’re told that the Ringmaster isn’t close to civilization yet, but there’s a non-zero chance that we won’t be in the same area as him if he arrives. We’ve already regaled you with the fact that he’s a bit of a trouble magnet."
"Y-yeah..."
Trouble was putting it lightly, but they weren’t going to point it out because they didn’t want to jinx their cousin about it.
Instead, they asked the obvious.
"Wait...are Nefira, Raquel and Mira capable of being stealthy? No offense, but their human forms don’t exactly suggest that they can be sneaky," Zhen Xing pointed out.
He wasn’t wrong, due to Nefira(Nepeherage) having red and black hair while looking a punk warrior woman, Raquel looking like a dancer from an exotic land and Mira being surprisingly curvy with a head of hair that was even more noticeable. They weren’t exactly the stealthiest group...but maybe that was the point.
"One of the things I have learned as a magician, and from the Ringmaster," Springer began to explain, "is that most people can only ever pay attention to one subject or another. Sure they might say they can multi-task, but even elite warriors have issues with this."
"Huh?"
"Take a look over there. Where that clown is putting on a juggling act," Springer explained. "You see that crowd?"
"Yeah?"
"Tell me, can either of you figure out who’s the pickpocket?"
"Uh..."
Zhen Tai and Zhen Xing stared at the crowd for a solid thirty seconds before turning back to Springer.
"The guy in the cloak?"
"The woman looking nonchalant."
"It’s neither. Iit’s the other clown."
"Wait, what?"
When Zhen Xing and Zhen Tai looked at the crowd again, they finally noticed that aforementioned clown making his way through the crowd.
This clown wasn’t subtle in the slightest, he kept weaving, bumping, apologizing to multiple people...but every time he did this, Zhen Tai and Zhen Xing could barely make out the moment he picked their pockets.
Needless to say, they were gobsmacked.
"The thing about life is that sometimes the most deceptive people in the world aren’t the most subtle people, but the most overt.*
"Huh...is that why you guys tend to stand out from the crowd?"
"More or less, yes."
"Huh."
"That being said, it doesn’t always work out," Springer admitted. "The girls are gonna be a little longer because some ruffians tried to get fresh with them."
"Are they going to be okay?"
"The Kaijin or the dumbasses who tried to grope them?"
"I mean..."
This chapter is updated by freēwēbnovel.com.
"In fairness, those dumbasses were actually targeted individuals."
"Say what?"
...Meanwhile...
BAM!
"OOF!"
"And that’s why when someone says look, but don’t touch, you don’t touch!"
"That looked personal."
"He did grab her ass."
In an abandoned warehouse away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets, Nepherage, Screamira and Razorstella had just finished beating the everliving shit out of a group of warriors that had attempted to harass the latter.
Needless to say, this turned out to be a very bad idea.
"They’re still breathing, right?," Razorstella asked. "I’m not used to punching people in the face and I’m not sure if I held back entirely."
"Hmmm. I think they’re fine," Screamira commented after checking for pulses. "They’re definitely gonna need to see a doctor or an alchemist after the this though."
"Hah! Irony!"
"Wait, are any of them still conscious?"
"Oh. Uh..."
That all said, this moment was actually more or less engineered by Kaijin.
"This guy. This guy appears to be conscious."
"Great!"
Earlier, when the Kaijin were scouting, they had noticed that a whole mess of factions were rolling into town because of the wandering ruins nearby, and they figured that they would could get some juicy information if they managed to seduce, coerce or blackmail the right people.
And it was during this scouting, they came across a group that they actually had some familiarity with.
A group that had an emblem that looked a lot like the Cortez Company one.
^Do you know who I am? Do you know who I represent?! They will-^
^Blah, blah, blah, you’re part of a group that’s supported by the House of the Golden Sabertooth in the Erupting Dawn Empire and I’ve heard spiels like this before,^ Nepeherage interrupted. ^I actually have a question for you that you need to answer before I decide it’s a good idea to immolate you alive."
After making this threat, Nepherage proceeded to produce a single image made of flames, depicting a strange looking hammer.
"You ever see this or the guy wielding it?"
