Kaijin Fighter: So I Have to Make Monsters, So What?-Chapter 1170: Intergenerational Grudge
Before we begin...
’So this is what it feels like...to wield the power of an Aether Lord,’ Lythero thought to himself as soon as he could feel his consciousness being in the present again. ’Alright. Let’s put it to good use.’
...Now to the fun part...
^Is...is it over?^
^From the feel of it...yes.^
^Alright, shield down.^
As soon as they sensed that Lythero had finished releasing hellfire upon them, Kendana, Leon and Rama proceeded to stop channeling their collective aether into the golden tortoise shell surrounding them.
Once they did that, the aforementioned tortoise shell proceeded to break down into aether particles that dissipated into the air.
That said, the sight that they were seeing now wasn’t exactly a pleasant one.
^By the Ashen Saints...^
^It appears, it was a good call to combine our powers and hunker down...^
^There’s no way we could’ve survived all of...this.^
The ruined lot that had once been occupied by a run down shack, wasn’t exactly a green pasture in the jungle town, but it wasn’t exactly desolate either. But now, after being subjected to the absurd flames generated by Lythero’s cultivation formula, the entire place looked a lot like what happens after a volcanic eruption.
All the plant life in the immediate area had been reduced to ash and cinders, with any unfortunate insects in the area being immediately carbonized into oblivion. Adding on to this nightmare scenario of fiery death though, clouds of black smoke, that originated from every burnt surface in the area, could be seen lingering above their heads and gathering into ominous plumes.
The three Grandmasters couldn’t help but to feel rather hopeless at the sight of their immediate surroundings, but they perked right up once they noticed two important details that existed beyond the ruined lot.
Firstly, the damage caused by Lythero’s outburst of power seemed to be limited to just the ruined lot itself. This either meant that Lythero’s power maxed out at round the perimeters of the lot or someone/something interfered and prevented the flames from spreading past a certain point.
The second detail, and arguably the most important one, was the fact that their army had managed to survive the blaze.
They didn’t know how it possible, maybe it was due to them being just out of range, or maybe it was due to them getting lucky. Regardless, since their army was still more or less in-tact, the Grandmasters of the Cortez Company felt a bit more at ease with their situation.
Even if they had failed to suppress Lythero completely, they could still rely on their superior numbers to make the difference.
Or at the very least, they could use their men as human shields.
Literally and figuratively.
^We should regroup with the army,^ Kendana assessed. ^Staying here like this just makes us sitting ducks.^
^Agreed,^ Leon agreed.
^What about the box?,^Rama asked as he gestured to the dormant Gold-Tier aether treasure. ^It may have taken a beating, but it should still be functional.^
When the Grandmasters of the Cortez Clan gathered to combine their defensive power, they made sure to gather around the [Itzumel Serpents Box] in order to protect it as well. It was a precious inheritance passed on to them from their ancestor, after all.
^Leave it for now,^ Kendana determined. ^We can recover it after we make sure that bastard is buried. Besides, nobody else can use it due to it being bonded to our bloodline.^
^If you say so, boss.^
^I do, now move.^
Moving in a coordinated manner, Kendana, Leon and Rama began to make their way across the ruined lot of land and attempted to return to their standing army as soon as possible.
The longer they lingered, the more likely they were going to-
^Where you think you’re going, bitches?! [Swooping Wyvern Slash]!^
^What?! Ah!^
^Leon!^
^Holy shit!^
-going to get jumped.
About halfway to their destination, Leon got blindsided as a warrior wearing a dark red [Regalia] that had a rather demonic knight motif to it, slashed at his stone covered stomach and sent him flying backwards with an energy projectile shaped like a wyvern.
Needless to say, this warrior was none other than Lythero.
^Nobody is leaving the area until I say so, ja?!^
Needless to say, the combination of seeing their ally getting knocked away and the sudden usage of a foreign language, made Kendana and Rama rather tongue-tied.
But not for long.
As veteran warriors, they knew better than to let their nerves get the better of them.
Even if they were aware they might’ve bitten off more than they could chew.
[Sunfire Rabbit Punch!]
[Scorching Sunbird Strike!]
In the blink of an eye, Kendana threw a flaming punch towards Lythero’s face while Rama attempted to swing towards the abdomen with burning kurkris.
However, the strangest thing occurred the moment they tried to make contact with Lythero’s body.
Fwoom!
Fwoom!
^What the fuck?!^
^Our attacks went right through him!^
They couldn’t make contact with Lythero’s body.
It’s a known fact that warriors attempting to fight opponents who are full stages higher than themselves tend to only do a reduced amount of damage per hit, but there’s still at least some level of damage being inflicted.
This however, felt...different.
The two Grandmasters felt as if they were punching through smoke or an illusion, yet at the same time, they could both sense that warrior in front of them was the real deal.
Needless to say, Lythero didn’t appreciate getting double teamed in such a manner.
^Ya know, I was going to just take you guys down in order for weakest to strongest,^ Lythero mocked as his body reformed away from Rama and Kendana. ^But if you’re going to be serving yourselves on a silver platter for me, I might as well give take you both down first!^
Soon after making this claim, Lythero began circulating his aether into his sword,in a way he hadn’t done in years since the death of his masters and the sealing of his cultivation.
Not only did it feel good to Lythero, being able to do thist trick again after so many years, but it also felt strangely appropriate for the situation.
After all, this was the same move that his masters used when killing that useless bandit lord of a son all those years ago.
[Nine Suns Scripture: Twilight Slash!], Lythero roared while swinging his sword horizontally in Leon and Kendana’s direction.
A crescent shaped projectile of energy with the same color as the setting sun fired off of Lythero’s sword and impacted Kendana and Rama at the exact same time.
However, the results between the two were very different from each other.
[Iron Guard!]
Kendana managed to raise his guard fast enough so that the brunt of the blows were against his reinforced arms.
As for Rama, the results were a touch worse.
^Bah!^
^Rama!^
Rama had attempted to use his kukris to block the attack, but Lythero’s twilight tinted energy blade had sliced right through the flimsy pieces of steel and impacted Rama’s abdomen.
A deep gash was left in the center of Rama’s [Regalia] as he was knocked to the ground.
With space now created between them, Lythero reformed into a solid form as Kendana stomped the ground and swung his arms back in order to stop his backwards momentum.
If one were to take a closer look at Kendana’s forearms at this moment, they would notice a deep gash in his [Regalia] and that his aether was having trouble in repairing the damage.
^Well, ain’t that convenient. I meant to take out your allies before I took you out, and that’s what happened! Funny life works out like that, right?,^ Lythero mocked.
The boasting was completely unnecessary on Lythero’s part, but he had been living a suppressed lifestyle for multiple decades at this point.
The man needed to vent.
That and he wanted to beat out some catharsis.
And unfortunately, Kendana was making himself a more and more viable target for this cathartic beating.
Especially after he said the following after seeing Lythero walk towards him like a man in a mission.
^W-wait! You don’t want to waste your time on me. I’m just a distant relation to the Honored-I mean, the Duke of the Golden Sabertooth. I have nothing to do with your grudge.^
^Oh really?^
Updat𝓮d fr𝙤m ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com.
^Yes!^
^Then why did you make my life hell for the past five years?^
^That...^
...Meanwhile...
’Huh...is it just me, or does Lythero’s [Regalia] has like a...fire demon meets vampire thing going on?’
[I did sense that he’s kind of like you milord. A cross between people from two different continents.]
’I...guess? But if that was the case, shouldn’t my [Regalia] look a mash-up between Roaring Tide and Stampeding Bison styles?’
[Your power technically comes from Chaos, so maybe that’s why?]
’I mean...I guess...also, how the fuck did he do that smoky body trick?’
[I think it’s his Astra, Executor.]
’That tracks...also, we should probably get involved before this goes further than necessary, yes?’
