Kaijin Fighter: So I Have to Make Monsters, So What?-Chapter 1164: Set List: Mysticlassical
Meanwhile...
[A three versus one? The first time we’ve been separated for an extended period of time, and Blazejudicator and maestro get to have fun fighting against three opponents at once? This is so bogus,] Hurricroak grumbled.
[Oh hush now, frog girl,] Razorstella chided. [We need to see how the director handles this.]
=That and hope to the heavens that they kick up enough of a mess for us to actually get a clear reading,= Logos added.
<They’re starting!>
...Now back to Papaya Town...
’Okay, since I don’t want to expose that I’m basically immune to their attacks until the last possible moment...Blazejudicator, you ready for this?’
[Always, Executor. How are you going to approach this? Going to use the Setlist: Ragnarock?]
’That’s good for brute force, right now I’m going for...trickery. So I’m going to be using Setlist: Mysticlassical.’
[Mysticlassical?]
’You’ll see...oh wait, for this opening move, I need you to heat up the area around me even higher than what it currently is.’
[Er,okay...why?]
’Physics is a bitch.’
...
^Now then, are any of you going to make the first move or-^
[Regalia on! Swooping Eagle Slash!]
[Regalia on! Heavy Mountain Palm!]
[Regalia on.]
^Well, I guess that answers that question!^
Before Zhen Liu could finish asking, Rama and Leon, respectively, activated their [Regalias] and moved in to attack first.
The former’s [Regalia] had a dark blue eagle motif going on, with a headdress that reminded Zhen Liu of a stylized version of something he saw in a history book in his old world. Adding on to this eagle imagery, Rama’s kukris became shrouded in a dark blue aura that gave the illusion they became wings.
In sharp contrast, the latter’s [Regalia] made the man look like a living stone statue that resembled a fat asura.
A fat asura that became rather lopsided as the man’s aether art caused his swinging palm to double in size due to being coated in a thick layer of rock.
On one side, a rock wall moving at breakneck speeds.
On the other, a pair of blades moving just as fast, if not faster.
In the face of a pincer attack like this, Zhen Liu could think of three ways on how to deal with the situation but get attacked in the process, and one way where he could make them suffer before they could do jackshit.
The first option was to simply dodge in a direction that they weren’t coming from at the last possible moment and have them impact each other. This option was highly dependent on whether or not the opponents were reckless enough and shortsighted to commit such attacks before stopping, as well as being able to find an angle to dodge.
The second option was to block the attacks, using aether and [Chaos] to intercept the attacks and then bank on his enhanced physical strength to swing Rama and Leon like ragdolls. Assuming that the latter didn’t have any weird techniques that made him immovable.
Option three was to attack one of the attackers and break the formation. It honestly wouldn’t be that hard to break through one of the attacks.
New novel 𝓬hapters are published on freёwebnoѵel.com.
However, all three options carried the risk of being struck from behind by Kendana, whose [Regalia] made him look like a colorful war deity.
The leader of the Cortez Company had not rushed in like his compatriots, but opted to hang back while gathering aether in his arms, fists and elbows.
Regardless of the previously mentioned options chosen, Zhen Liu would be subjected to some kind of ranged attack that was courtesy of Kendana’s fists.
As such, knowing that he was going to get attacked anyways, Zhen Liu opted to go with option four.
Hit them first, with an attack that was even faster than them.
’Breathe in...’
The moment the Cortez Trading Company began their assault, Zhen Liu had begun to concentrate his [Chaos] into his vocal chords, lungs and throat in order to mimic a certain bony banshee to the best of his abilities.
And while he wasn’t able to hit those same high notes, he knew how to make his voice below like a beast.
’...Scream out!’
[Hellfire Howl!]
AWWOOOOOO!
^Bah!^
^Bastard!^
^What the hell?!,^ Kendana exclaimed while resisting the shockwave that had knocked into him.
One of the few physics lessons that Zhen Liu remembered in his past life was that heat made sound waves travel at a significantly higher rate than usual and that the faster something moves, the harder it hits on impact.
Therefore, surrounding himself with even hotter air before using a sound-based technique should’ve enhanced its deadliness.
Probably.
He honestly had no idea if it was going to work in reality, but it sounded right.
Regardless, now that Leon and Rama had been thoroughly knocked away, Zhen Liu took this opportunity to strike at the head.
’Time to get into the spring of things!’
[MY Driver! Yusha Mode!]
Pumping [Chaos] into his abdomen, legs and head, and using the interim of time to don his own [Regalia], Zhen Liu launched himself towards Kendana as if his entire body was made of springs and his head was the heavy payload to a projectile.
^Accursed-BUH!^
After reflexively pushing away the shockwave of force that had almost impacted him, Kendana had left himself wide open for Zhen Liu to land a solid headbutt directly into the man’s stomach.
Normally, his [Regalia] should’ve protected him from such simple kinetic blows, but the [Chaos] coursing through Zhen Liu’s head at this time had punched right through whatever aether protection Kendana had established for himself beforehand.
Needless to say, Kendana was forced to take several steps backwards as the headbutt had knocked the wind right out of him. As an additional problem for him, this gave Zhen Liu time to get back up onto his feet.
Despite using a rather inelegant move, Zhen Liu’s [Regalia] made him look surprisingly heroic in this moment.
Not that anyone physically present could appreciate it.
^You bastard, I’ll flatten you!,^Leon shouted once he got back up onto his feet and recovered from being knocked away. [Crushing Armadillo Strike!]
After declaring his technique, Leon tumbled forward and transformed himself into a rolling boulder that accelerated towards Zhen Liu at speeds that exceeded his earlier attack.
In the face of this bowling ball of death, Zhen Liu thought of two immediate plans of action.
He could simply punch forward and send the bastard flying, granted this would probably also leave him vulnerable to another attack.
Or...he could do something a little fancier.
’Lets see how badly you want to follow my rhythm, you big bastard.’
Channeling more [Chaos] into his legs, Zhen Liu began to spin in place while dragging one of his feet across the ground and carving a pathway in the dirt.
At first it wasn’t much, but the faster and faster Zhen Liu pirouetted in place, the more defined the track he was carving out became.
Eventually, Zhen Liu was surrounded by what appeared to be a stylized letter "U" into the ground.
As to why he made such a shape, the reason soon became evident once Leon got in a little too close.
’Alright, let’s redirect this bitch.’
Once Leon got in close enough to be a problem, Zhen Liu whipped out with a kick and forced the rolling bastard to follow the carved path that he had just created.
And once he followed it to the other end, Zhen Liu made sure to send him off with an assistive kick, right into a recovered Rama who had attempted to charge in an attack after following Leon.
’And...fire!’
The end result of this chain of events was, needless to say, an utter disaster for the Cortez Company warriors.
It was one thing to be stunned by an opponent’s attack, it was another thing entirely to have been redirected.
’Theyre probably gonna get back up and make my life hell...but good lord this is cathartic!’
...Meanwhile...
[Wait, our playlist is called...Mysticlassical? Why?,] Screamira asked Razorstella and Springerdermain in a very confused tone of voice.
Her fellow kaijin only shrugged in response.
<Wait, I think I know the answer to this,> Pathos pipped up. <I think it’s because, by a massive technicality, all three of you kind fit into the mold of Victorian occultism.>
[What the shit?,] Razorstella asked.
=You’re a star based ballerina that was originally a mechanical puppet, Springerdermain is technically a magician and seem to carry a resemblance to a creature in our Lord’s old world called Spring-Heeled Jack and Screamira is kind of an undead banshee,= Logos explained. =All three of you represent different types of mysticism that were popularized: Astrology, Legerdemain and Spirituality.=
<I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if y’all somehow combined into a Victorian gentleman that was armed to nines with weird tricks. A sharp contrast to that Ragnarocker guy.>
[Speaking of Ragnarocker,] Springerdermain interjected. [How the hell did you three manage to pull off a trick like that?]
[Well...]
