What?
Why is the title so oddly ominous?
Don’t worry about it.
I’m going to be worried about it, I’m the narrator to this.
It’ll be fine, just try me.
I can objectively prove the last time you told me that, three dudes blew up like they were-
Whoa, whoa, whoa! Don’t make that comment! I don’t want this thing getting shuttered for an off color reference. Just, read the quote please.
Fine...

The worst kind of death, in my opinion, are the accidental kind.
If someone dies of old age, it’s a life well-lived and there’s a sense of satisfaction.
If someone dies in battle, the survivors can at least get revenge and get a sense of closure.
If someone dies through no reason other than bad timing, there’s nobody to blame but fate itself.
And there’s no closure in a death like that.

[Man, things are getting pretty nasty over in Stone Claw right now,] Hurricroak commented as she tapped into the information that Arachnidame and Lacerage was feeding them. [Yeesh. I don’t think I’d be a good match up for these guys. Not enough cohesion for electricity to flow.]
[And we’re all the way here in Roaring Tide still,] Nepherage griped. [Granted, there’s no place I’d rather be than by our Lord’s side, it’s just...]
[A little...boring?,] Frosttusk asked.
[Yup.]
[Meh. The way I see it, all of this delaying will just make our entry into the battlefield all the sweeter and more memorable,] Razorstella chimed in. [Hell, it’d probably be a grand way to introduce Springerdermain’s new... everything.]
[I don’t think that’s necessary.]
[Says you.]
[Before you two continue arguing, what happened to your arms when you got them back?] Screamira asked.
[Funny thing, I couldn’t reattach them to my torso. Instead, I just sorta...absorbed them, and now I can manifest invisible spring arms like thise new phantom hands of mine.]
[Huh...that makes...a little too much sense.]
[Right???]
[Oh hey, it looks like the Executor’s extended family has finally stopped aruging with each other.]
[Finally!]

<<Bah, fine! But you’re forbidden from any more excursions for two weeks when you get back!>>
<<Sure thing!>>
"Finally!," Zhen Liu hissed as a whisper.
It honestly didn’t take that long for Zhen Xun Tian and Zhen Xun Po to come to a conclusion in regards to the former’s reckless behavior and general truancy, but it sure as hell felt like it took forever.
Regardless, now that the mother and son who were in charge of running one of the biggest military forces in the Pearl Scale Empire had finally stopped arguing, everyone else could finally move on to important things.
Literally.
In the entire time it took for Zhen Xun Tian and Zhen Xun Ponyo wrap up their little disagreement, shit had gotten significantly more intense over in Stone Claw.
Evidently, the [Whirling Dust Devil Tyrant] and its "royal guards", did not appreciate getting blasted in the face with [Chaos].
’Hopefully we can get back before things get even worse...’
As this thought popped into Zhen Liu’s head, he almost missed Zhen Xun Tian mentioning the plan.
<<Alright, kiddos. From what I’m understanding, there’s a non-zero chance that things might be becoming incredibly dire over in Stone Claw. Since this is the case, I’ll head over first to help deal with whatever maybe happening over there. Hopefully I won’t be needed, but it can never hurt to be too careful, you know?>>
And with those words, Zhen Xun Tian led the branch clan scions to the room where they kept the teleportation array to Stone Claw.
And as they entered the room, a strange feeling of tension began to wash over the group.
<<Hmmm, something feels off...>>
As to why they felt this way, well...let’s just say it’s the same feeling one might get when they feel as if something is about to drop on top of their heads.
...Meanwhile in Stone Claw, things were be getting messy...
SKORRAAA!
"BREAK FOR ME!"
"GRUNT!"
From above, Zhen Shi was releasing an attack that took on the form of a giant serpent made of water and ice.
From below, a giant hippopotamus made of howling winds was being projected from a slightly smaller giant hippopotamus.
And the strangely unsettling thing about these attacks, is that the [Whirling Dust Devil Tyrant] couldn’t get a clear read on either of them.
It had initially assumed the attacks were just unusual types of aether, but as the human and rival beast got closer and closer, the [Whirling Dust Devil Tyrant] could begin to sense that these attacks were anything but simple applications of aether.
It was something more primal and ancient than even itself and such a feeling was... unsettling, to say the least.
SKORRAAA!
As such, instead of half-assedly blocking one attack while banking on its ephemeral body to tank the other attack, the [Whirling Dust Devil Tyrant] did something unprecedented for a creature of its magnitude.
It decided to push back with all that it could muster.
SKOOORRRAAA!
"T-this, this energy!"
The [Whirling Dust Devil Tyrant] took its blade in both of its ever shifting hands and swung it in a circular fashion, kicking up a tornado of sand that caught both Zhen Shi’s giant icy sea serpent and Tiny’s whirlwind copy.
Under normal circumstances, this tornado would’ve torn apart their attacks and send Zhen Shi and Tiny flying like butterflies in a whirlwind. However, this was the moment that [Chaos] proved its worth.
Instead of being torn asunder, the [Chaos] composing the constructs were able to resist most of the tornado’s force by literally dispelling the aether impacting them.
In other words, the [Whirling Dust Devil Tyrant] had only delayed inevitable...or had it?
The thing about [Chaos] is that while it is able to dispell most aether based abilities, it is dependent on whether or not the warriors involved can outlast their opponents.
This battle had finally entered its attrition phase, but the consequences were a lot more dire.
Case and point, the environment started to get weird due to all of the [Chaos] and aether colliding with one another, to the point that entire chunks of terrain were starting to get tossed upwards and sideways.
With some pieces launching a bit further than intended.
[Chaos] infused pieces.
"Incoming sharpnel!"
"Shoot it down!"
"I can’t, my attacks are just dispelling against it!"
...Same time in Roaring Tide...
<<The fuck you mean you have to send us in one at a time?>>
’Oh it’s just one thing after the other, huh.’
Just as Zhen Liu, Zhen Hai, Zhen Feng and Zhen Xun Tian were about to go to Stone Claw City, yet another delay popped up.
Albeit, the delay was a touch more understandable.
<<We’re sorry, Matriarch, but the situation over in Stone Claw City has caused the environmental aether in the area to become incredibly unstable. If we send all you over at once, it could lead to disastrous consequences.>>
’Wait a minute...’
Initially, Zhen Liu thought this was going to be annoying delay, but then he realized something incredibly important.
He wasn’t exactly travelling alone.
"Xiao Liu, if we can’t go in group, doesn’t that mean..."
"Give me a second to confirm some things. There might be a loophole..."
...
’Logos. Pathos. I’m assuming that the people controlling the array are telling the truth and that the instability is a result of all the fighting?’
<=Indeed.=>
’And the fact that they can only teleport in people one at a time right now, probably means that I probably can’t enter with all the kaijin on my person?’
<Mostly.>
=Blazejudicator is technically a spiritual body so you don’t have to worry about them being affected.=
[Haha.]
[Special ass motherfucker.]
’Okay, if that’s the case. It’s time for plan B.’
...
"Okay, I get the distinct feeling this is going to take awhile, so I’m going to go use the bathroom."
"Alright."
"Don’t take too long, cousin."
Due to recent events, Zhen Hai and Zhen Feng knew that Zhen Liu had access to a strange treasure that could take him, or his kaijin, to the [Library Of Nowhere].
They actually thought of using it to get back to Stampeding Bison, but the distance between the library and Stone Claw was too far, given the current situation.
And right now, time was of the essence.
Which was why, the moment Zhen Liu opened the door to the library, he summoned all of the kaijin except for Blazejudicator and had them enter the library.
Once they were all out, he gave them their orders.
"Alright, due to the circumstances, I need y’all to head back home before me so that you can help out with dealing with the Beast Tide. I’ll follow shortly through the usual way."
"Are you sure about this, milord?," Nepherage asked. "We could easily carry you back ourselves."
"Yeah, yeah!"
"Agreed..."
"You probably can, but I still have some form of secrecy to maintain. After the battle, I’ll be sure to reveal stuff and make it easier to travel. But for now, go and protect my hometown."
"Alright, milord. As you wish."
