Just A Daoist Who Occasionally Kicks Ass-Chapter 306: Tyrannical Lightning Arts! Concealing Merit and Fame! The Three Wooden Boxes of Master Yushu! The Suan Ni!
The moment that aura of lightning and fire appeared, the dragon’s demonic qi was instantly forced back.
Sssssss!
From the surrounding mountains of corpses and seas of blood, thick white smoke rose, and the entire scene churned violently.
“I will utterly annihilate every last one of you demons and fiends! Five-Lightning Pure Yang, the True Law of Heaven and Earth, kill!”
Boom!
Heaven itself split with lightning. The phantasm of the corpse mountains and blood seas vanished, leaving heaven and earth a blinding white.
It was so scorching and dazzling that it felt as if one had stepped into the lightning pool of the immortal world. Everywhere, lightning and fire raged.
Suddenly, heaven and earth fell into utter silence. That immense contrast of being thrown into such abrupt dead stillness after such an earth-shaking explosion filled the heart with an indescribable unease.
Yet at this moment, no one had the mind to care about such feelings. Everyone’s primordial spirits had been shaken by that heaven-sent lightning strike. For a long time, none could recover.
Master Yushu, highest in cultivation among those present, was also the first to regain himself from the oppressive thunderous aura. His face showed a look of astonishment.
“Just... just like that, it’s dead!?”
That wicked flood dragon had been suppressed within the pagoda forest by the patriarch himself, and its true spirit was incredibly difficult to kill. Or rather, it was precisely on this dragon’s place of sealing that the patriarch had founded the Jinguang Temple. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
With the flourishing incense and faith of Buddhism, they continuously eroded away at the demon qi of that flood dragon. Judging merely from the strength it possessed the instant it broke free of the seal, its former peak power must have been unimaginable.
And yet, such a flood dragon of the third realm had actually been slain!?
Soon, the others gradually recovered from the shock, and their expressions were filled with shock beyond comparison. That dragon, whose demonic qi had once soared to the heavens, had vanished without a trace.
Even that golden-armored divine general had likewise disappeared without knowing where to. The surrounding yin qi and demonic qi had been completely purged, and only the lingering essence of pure yang lightning and fire remained. It was the ultimate purest yang.
“Damn! This trip to Jinguang Temple was absolutely thrilling! I absolutely must go back and tell my junior sister about this,” one cultivator exclaimed in shock.
The surrounding crowd all nodded in agreement. This was truly an eye-opener!
First, there was a battle between Yang Spirit powerhouses of the third realm. Then, a golden-armored divine general descended from the heavens to suppress the flood dragon tyrannically. It was enough to make one’s blood boil with excitement!

After Li Yanchu cast the five times-enhanced Five-Lightning Talisman, that demon dragon’s soul was shattered and dispersed, and he directly gained forty thousand merit points. It was an enormous harvest! Even someone like Shangguan Jin, a peak expert of the second realm, was only worth eight thousand merit points.
Li Yanchu judged that this flood dragon of the third realm should also count as a powerful existence. Otherwise, the patriarch of Jinguang Temple back then wouldn’t have sealed it, but outright slain it instead.
He figured he had encountered it at its weakest moment. If not slain now, should he wait until it recovered?
At this time, the corners of his mouth curled into a faint smile.
“To slay a third realm powerhouse... that feels deliciously satisfying!”
He did not reveal his true body, partly to avoid unnecessary trouble and partly to conceal his strength. Otherwise, a third realm powerhouse might well fix their sights on him immediately.
In life, one must keep a low profile, Li Yanchu thought to himself.
Just like that, he gained the flood dragon’s resentment.
Today was supposed to be his stage for flaunting. He was going to break his seal and single-handedly bathe the Jinguang Temple in blood.
He was going to declare to the world in the most brutal way possible, “I, Ao Lie, have returned!”
Yet, in this great era of strife, where countless prodigies emerged, Ao Lie ended up as nothing more than the stepping stone of a Daoist youth barely in his twenties. Moreover, the other party wasn’t even willing to use this to make a name for himself.
Li Yanchu’s primordial spirit returned to its place, and without betraying the slightest sign, he blended back into the crowd. Together with them, he praised and marveled at that mysterious golden-armored divine general.
Too many upheavals had occurred this night, and everyone was unable to calm down for a long while; their discussions were endless.
The next day, Li Yanchu prepared to depart from the Jinguang Temple. At dawn, Master Puxing came to find him. Behind him followed an old monk with an unusual countenance and extraordinarily large earlobes. It was none other than Master Yushu, who was born with an auspicious sign.
After a few simple courtesies, Master Yushu spoke, “Young fellow Daoist, your Daoist arts helped this monastery escape its tribulation of slaughter. You are truly the great benefactor of Jinguang Temple.”
“Master, you overpraise me.”
“Do convey my regards to Celestial Master Zhang. It was fortunate that he sent you here to escort the relic this time, I shall personally pay him my thanks in the future.”
This divine monk’s manner was warm and courteous, and toward Li Yanchu he showed the utmost respect.
Master Puxing was faintly astonished that his grandmaster personally accompanied him today solely for the sake of meeting this Daoist Li.
They had come because of Li Yanchu’s slaying of Shangguan Jin.
Since he had rendered service, naturally they could not, just because demons and monsters had been released afterwards, fail to come forward with thanks.
Yet Li Yanchu couldn’t help but raise his brows. Why was this old monk smiling at him so kindly?
Master Yushu sighed, “Last night, our monastery suffered the greatest upheaval in centuries, and it was nearly met with destruction. Now, everything lies in ruins, in need of rebuilding. Otherwise, by no means would we let you leave so soon today, young fellow Daoist.”
“Master Yushu, you mustn’t be too formal.” Li Yanchu smiled in reply.
He couldn’t shake the feeling that this old monk seemed to have seen through something about him. This attitude of his was a little too close, a little too friendly.
The old monk did not speak in riddles. Instead, taking three boxes from Master Puxing’s hands, he spoke bluntly, “I shall gift these three things to you as a token of gratitude. If ever there comes a day when you need my assistance, feel free to tell me.”
Good heavens! The old monk is truly generous!
Li Yanchu accepted the items from Master Yushu’s hands, unable to stop his brows from lifting. He was just about to politely decline, but Master Yushu waved his hand to cut him off.
“They’re just some insignificant items, hardly worth mentioning. Young fellow Daoist, I hope you do not mind them.”
“Master Yushu, this...”
“Young fellow Daoist, you don’t need to refuse. As for yesterday’s matter, allow me to repay you in the future!”
Master Yushu gave Li Yanchu a deep look filled with meaning. Seeing this, Li Yanchu no longer declined.
The three of them chatted idly for a while. From their words, Li Yanchu came to know that last night, that mysterious golden-armored divine general invoked the Five-Lightning Spell and cleansed the demon!
Not only did he slay the flood dragon, he also successfully helped Master Wuse suppress his heart demon. For Master Wuse, and for all the monks of Jinguang Temple, this was a tremendous joy.
After the old monk left, Li Yanchu finally opened the first wooden box. And then, his eyes revealed a wry smile.
Inside was a wooden token, which seemed exactly the same as the three divine tokens he already held in his possession.
“I wonder which ferocious beast it is this time?” Li Yanchu sent a trace of divine sense into the wooden token.
Instantly, he sensed a murderous beast, and its form resembled that of a lion.
“Suan Ni!” Li Yanchu’s gaze shifted slightly.
Suan Ni was one of the nine sons of the dragon. It loved stillness, and it also loved smoke and fire. It often appears in Buddhist ornamentation, and among the common folk it was regarded as an auspicious beast that warded off evil and protected the household, often placed before tombs[1].
“It seems Master Yushu truly did notice something.”
He carefully put away this divine token. The divinity within this token was relatively well-preserved, and it was likely connected to the nourishing power of incense and faith. However, compared to the three tokens already in Li Yanchu’s hands, it was clearly inferior.
Even so, this thing could be cultivated slowly, or else chosen for enhancement.
He then opened the second wooden box, and inside was a bottle of pills.
Pop!
Li Yanchu pulled out the wooden stopper, and instantly a rich surge of life-force qi overflowed, refreshing his body and mind. It was a Buddhist Bodhi Pill.
Judging from its quality, it must be one of the monastery’s treasured reserves, far superior in effect to the Bodhi Pill from last time. It could truly be called a precious pill!
