Just A Daoist Who Occasionally Kicks Ass-Chapter 269: Kill!
Boom!
A primordial spirit killing technique came hurtling toward him with immense power. The yaksha’s baleful qi surged to the heavens, its massive form transforming into a streak of light that pounced upon him. Like some god-beast from the myths of the Eight Legions[1], its gaze was lofty and arrogant beyond measure.
“A trash like you!?” Li Yanchu’s voice cracked like thunder. The talismanic armor over his body flared with dazzling brilliance, holding back the yaksha’s soul attack!
Boom!
The muscles along his back swelled like coiled dragons, and in his eyes flashed a domineering divine light.
The Wind Divine Bow in his hands was drawn into a perfect full moon, and in the air above, a burst of dazzling radiance erupted!
The yaksha raised its dharma weapon to meet the Wind Divine Bow, and its heart instantly tightened.
The power of this divine arrow... it’s grown even stronger!
Battle intent boiled within Li Yanchu’s body. Like a prodigy of the ancient human race, he radiated a wild, untamed will, exactly the sort of spirit that resonated with the Wind Divine Bow’s nature.
As a result, its might surged!
The tremendous force of their clash shattered the swirling wind and snow all around them.
The old Daoist from Mount Longhu simply stowed away his spells and divine arts, tucked the yellow paper umbrella under his arm, and leisurely stood to the side to watch.
A glimmer of surprise shone in his eyes.
The Wind Divine Bow... Don’t tell me this kid actually killed Hong Baiwei? The old Daoist pondered silently.
The Wind God was also known as Feng Bo[2]. His divine office was to govern the eight winds and command the fate of the Five Marquises!
This Wind Divine Bow was a treasured artifact of Mount Mao, obtained from a hidden realm. Its power was immense, second only to the mythical Sun-Shooting Bow.
With it, one could harness the momentum of heaven and earth to slay foes from a thousand li away. Its divine might was utterly tyrannical!
“With this kid’s strength, this bow really does suit him.” The old Daoist mused as he watched the fight.
Boom!
Boom!
The divine arrows were peerlessly domineering. The yaksha swung its dharma weapon, the green flames engulfing its body dyeing half the valley in a ghastly emerald hue.
The rocky ground grew even harder under the heat, and the dead trees were instantly burned to ash.
Yakshas were one of the Eight Legions. The yakshas were the most bloodthirsty among them; they were ugly, ferocious, and fed on ghosts.
It was a formidable primordial spirit dharma manifestation. Yet Duku’s yaksha could not withstand the peerless divine arrows in Li Yanchu’s hands, and was driven back again and again!
Its very soul quaked, and the yaksha that had just moments ago been so arrogant now could no longer unleash its full power.
“Come on!” Li Yanchu’s voice boomed like thunder, his battle spirit surging.
Boom!
The blazing arrows of condensed light erupted in one explosion after another. In the end, the yaksha was still slain by Li Yanchu.
Even with its advanced second realm primordial spirit manifestation, it could not withstand Li Yanchu’s ferocious and domineering assault.
Just moments ago, Duku had believed that by unleashing his yaksha manifestation, he could surely kill Li Yanchu. Who would have thought that it would only take a few more arrows for him to be defeated? His death was utterly stifling and humiliating.
Li Yanchu gripped the Wind Divine Bow, his killing aura utterly tyrannical. The half-body corpse of the Lord Corpse Matron crumbled into nothingness, and his primordial spirit fled outright.
It then took the form of a sinister white-haired and venom-eyed old crone. It was a man in a woman’s guise, and yin and yang were inverted. At this moment, the Lord Corpse Matron’s very soul was already shaken with fear by Li Yanchu!
This had originally been a certain-death siege against the old Celestial Master, a golden opportunity for the Bare Body Sect to make a name for themselves across the world. Yet it had been forcibly shattered by an obscure young Daoist! “Trying to run!?”
Li Yanchu’s gaze turned icy.
He did not unleash his primordial spirit manifestation, nor did he draw the Wind Divine Bow; instead, he simply took a single step forward. Clouds of auspicious vapor rose underfoot, and his body lifted straight into the air!
The old Daoist fell speechless. Cloud-Riding Immortal Physique!?
The old Daoist was startled, as Li Yanchu had clearly not manifested his primordial spirit, yet he was ascending into the air with his physical body alone!
Riding the clouds, Li Yanchu quickly caught up to the Lord Corpse Matron’s fleeing primordial spirit.
The sinister old crone turned his [3]head for a glance, and his eyes instantly went wide.
“A third realm expert is able to take to the air!?” A chill of dread rose in her heart!
Could this man be a Celestial Master from Mount Longhu, using Transformation Arts to come aid the battle?
His thoughts moved fast, and countless ideas flashed through the Lord Corpse Matron’s mind in an instant.
At last, he could not help but curse out loud, “Zhang Huaihe, I curse eight generations of your ancestors, you’ve tricked me, you old dog!”
His voice was thick with grief and rage, so much so that the old Daoist couldn’t help but be taken aback. The so-called “king of sharp tongues” found himself momentarily stunned by this outburst.
Before he could return the insult in kind, Li Yanchu had already closed in. He didn’t bother to question why the Lord Corpse Matron was cursing at the old Daoist. Instead, he simply brought his saber down!
Clang! 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
The saber’s aura cleaved straight into the Lord Corpse Matron’s primordial spirit, and the searing heat of his blood and qi immediately set it ablaze.
For a demonic creature like him, an ancient corpse refined to spirit, abandoning his jiangshi body and fleeing was already a supremely unwise move. It was pure, unmitigated panic!
After striking him down, Li Yanchu descended from the sea of clouds back to the ground. His bearing was ethereal, like an exiled immortal, but his face was cold, and his saber light was chilling. He was more like a celestial guardian general descending from Heaven!
“Gasp!” The old Daoist drew in a sharp breath.
Three of the Bare Body Sect’s Four Great Kings had perished here in Mount Wu of Wei City, utterly annihilated!
Looking at the scene before him, the Celestial Master of Mount Longhu felt a moment of daze, something stirring in his heart.
Originally, he had thought Li Yanchu was a promising new talent of the Daoist sect, someone worth nurturing, who might, in this age of great contention, bear the standard high. That would have been a fitting way to honor his old friend Xuancheng’s memory.
By his current cultivation, Li Yanchu should not have been able to contend with figures of the Bare Body Sect’s Four Great Kings. Yet he was this ruthless!
His earlier doubts about Li Yanchu now felt like a slap to the face.
It wasn’t that the old Daoist’s judgment of people was poor; rather, it was that Li Yanchu simply didn’t play by the rules, and the slap came too fast.
Then, Li Yanchu cleaned up the battlefield. He burned the corpses with the yang flames of a martial warrior to prevent any further trouble, then took the magical artifacts from the bodies of the three Heavenly Kings.
Finally, with the aid of a purified Clearheart Jade Pendant, he formed a seal with his hands and chanted, “Heaven and Earth in their natural state, foul qi disperse; cut down demons, bind evil, ferry the multitude; ill-omen scatter, Daoist qi endure. Swiftly, in accordance with the command!”
It was one of the Eight Great Divine Mantras, the Purifying Heaven and Earth Mantra!
The surrounding gloom, corpse miasma, and foul qi were all completely cleansed.
This was done to prevent the heavy yin and baleful qi in the area from breeding more evil spirits.
This approach is far more steady than when I was young...
The old Daoist, yellow paper umbrella tucked under his arm and a smile on his face, praised, “You, lad, are truly a fine seedling for slaying demons and exorcising evil.”
Li Yanchu replied, “It’s all thanks to your good teaching. I merely applied a small trick.”
The old Daoist curled his lip. “With all the spells, divine powers, magical artifacts, and treasures you have, and that sheer killing power, even I must admit I pale in comparison. Don’t be too modest.”
If the Wind Divine Bow were in anyone else’s hands, it would never show such awe-inspiring might. The old Daoist could see that clearly.
He spoke slowly, “Though I am no grand ‘Daoist spiritual master,’ my one life is still worth more than the likes of three Bare Body Sect Heavenly Kings. Today, I owe you a debt, you’ve saved my life.”
Li Yanchu gave a slight smile.
Just now, even after he had deliberately revealed the Wind Divine Bow and the celestial body that could ride the clouds, the old Daoist had shown no trace of greed or ill intent.
His words made it clear that he truly regarded Li Yanchu as a junior of his own clan, treating him without formality.
Aside from the habit of sometimes speaking half a sentence and leaving things hanging, this frank and decisive demeanor was actually quite endearing.

2. Fengbo (Chinese: 風伯), also known as Fengshi, is the Taoist deity of the wind. In ancient times, he was depicted as a grotesque deity with the body of a deer, the head of a bird, horns, the tail of a snake, and patterns of a leopard. Eventually, Fengbo was replaced by Feng Po Po. According to the Records of the Grand Historian, he was an object of state ritual from early times, with temples and festivals held in honor of him.
