Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 79: Collision Between Flames
The divine positions on the Investiture of the Gods are limited, and many disciples have fallen in vain between heaven and earth, their resurrection by the Investiture of the Gods nothing but futile.
Ding Guang Immortal with a look of embarrassment and shifty eyes, was he not also helpless?
After all, it was Saint Zhunti himself who had come to see him, how could he have refused?
He estimated that he wouldn’t even have had the chance to reject before his soul would have dispersed.
If a cultivator cannot live forever, what is the point of their existence?
"What I did was abandoning the dark and seeking the light. The Jie School aided ZHou in his tyranny, which goes against the heavens. What’s wrong with following the mandate of heaven and acting according to my true heart?"
Upon saying this, Long Ear stiffened his neck and continued, "Moreover, Donor Three Xiaos, I am now Buddhism’s Delighted Buddha of Fixed Light, no longer the upright Long-Ear Dingguang Immortal. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, everything is but a cloud of smoke from the past. Donor should be clear on this."
After saying so, the Delighted Buddha of Fixed Light still faced the Three Xiaos with an indifferent expression and gave them a Buddhist greeting.
"Well said, well said. The Delighted Buddha of Fixed Light speaks truly, acting in accordance with heaven is what we in Buddhism do!"
"Heaven determines the rise of Buddhism; those of you obstructing the grand rise of my Buddhist faith wish to act against heaven, for which sin should you be held accountable!"
All the Buddhas nodded in agreement.
Although they despised Long Ear for his way of life, they still approved of his actions. Were they in his shoes, they would certainly have made the same choice.
Was one really expected to follow the Jie School to the bitter end?
To be a Buddha revered by all on Spirit Mountain, waiting for the Merit Points to fall from heaven after the Journey to the West and then enhance their strength significantly—wasn’t that enticing?
Qiong Xiao scorned, glancing over the faces of these Buddhas and fixing her gaze on Long Ear with disdain, she mocked, "Birds of a feather flock together; all the same nature, disgusting!"
Before the Buddhas could blame her for anything, Qiong Xiao took direct action.
The slender sword qi that split the heavens was directed towards the assembly of Buddhas.
The complexions of the Buddhas changed instantly. Qiong Xiao was among the strongest of the Daluo Golden Immortals, and they did not wish to withstand her attack directly.
They hurriedly dodged and made way, and the sword qi passed through their ranks, exploding upon the ground.
In an instant, the ground was torn with a chasm so deep its bottom could not be seen, and the entire mountain trembled several times.
The fierce sword qi instantly ground all the fervent devotees on the scene into dust.
In the moments before their death, a touch of doubt flickered in their fanatical eyes—why, knowing that these common people were behind them, would the Buddhas choose to dodge without the slightest hesitation?
However, this question could only be pondered by them in the underworld.
The tremendous tremor caused the descending monks to stagger, and the Elder Abbot fell to the ground, unsteady.
Ignoring the pain, the Abbot twisted his head to look in the direction of the temple, anxiety apparent in his eyes.
"Abbot..." the Young Novice Monk strained to help the Elder Abbot up.
The Elder Abbot shook his head and said, "Continue down the mountain, the farther away the better!"
Three Xiaos wore a grave expression, while Qiong Xiao radiated an icy chill. Her target was these Buddhas; she paid no mind to the mortals.
But who would have thought, with so many gathered together, not one dared to face her sword skills?
Qiong Xiao’s grip tightened on her longsword and her knuckles turned white with force. A bunch of cowardly wretches, disregarding the lives of creatures, presuming to be cultivators!
Naturally, there were several individuals behind the assembly of Buddhas, but what of it?
They were mere ants, if dead, then dead. The masses of mortals were as numerous as specks of dust; the death of one bore little impact on the whole.
And in any case, this was not their fault!
Manjushri stepped forward, filled with righteous indignation, and said, "Qiong Xiao, you have recklessly taken the lives of mortals and harmed living creatures without care for their lives, committing a grievous sin. What punishment is due for this crime?"
As soon as these words were spoken, they resonated with the Buddhas, who began to accuse her.
Such compassion, such justice!
Hearing these accusations that resonated with righteousness, Qiong Xiao said with cold eyes, "Are you done speaking?"
This voice carried an endless killing intent, and an indescribable oppressive force spread from Qiong Xiao’s body.
"Not good, she definitely wants to set up the Nine Curves Yellow River Formation!" a Buddha pointed at Qiong Xiao and exclaimed in horror.
All Buddhas were shocked in their hearts, for the Nine Curves Yellow River Formation was one of the most striking formations in the cataclysm of the Divine Enthronement.
It could cause Loss of Immortal’s Spirit, Dissipation of Immortal’s Soul, Trapping Immortal’s Form, Meteor Immortal’s Qi, Loss of Immortal’s Original Essence, Impairment of Immortal’s Limbs. Immortals who entered would become mortals, and mortals who entered would perish!
To suppress the twelve Golden Immortals of the Chan School and to trim the Three Flowers and waste the Five Qi was truly fearsome!
Among the twelve Golden Immortals at that time, there were Daluo Golden Immortals, yet it was to no avail.
Hearing the name of this formation, the most directly affected victims, the three Bodhisattvas, changed their expressions and wanted to run away.
Those who had not experienced it could never understand the agony of having their Three Flowers trimmed and their Five Qi wasted.
Seeing their reaction, Long Ear couldn’t help but shout anxiously, "The Nine Curves Yellow River Formation is not something that can be set up so casually, she must be bluffing us!"
"This humble monk has long been aware of that. Just now I was merely putting on an act to let the witch lower her guard!"
"Exactly, how could three mere women stand against our boundless Buddhist Law?!"
Hearing Long Ear’s words, the Buddhas reacted faster than one another, with enigmatic and profound expressions, as if they weren’t the ones scared to death just moments ago.
Aside from the Nine Curves Yellow River Formation, the only things truly worthy of attention from the Three Xiaos were the cultivation of Elder Sister Yunxiao and their troublesome treasures—the Golden Jiao Scissors and the Primordial Golden Dou!
With so many of them, they refused to believe that they couldn’t defeat just three.
"Fight you? Why bother forming a formation!" Qiong Xiao said with disdain.
Boom!
In the next instant, a surge of ice-blue fire spread from her body, quickly spreading toward the Buddhas, blooming like a sea of radiant blue flowers.
At the moment the flames appeared, all the Buddhas shivered—it was too cold!
What was this situation?!
The pupils of the Buddhas contracted abruptly, for even though it bore the shape of flames, why were they so cold?
Some who were closer had already gotten frost on their eyebrows; the Buddhist light protecting their bodies had no effect whatsoever.
"Witch, don’t be presumptuous!" a Buddha with furious Vajra eyes formed a Buddhist Seal, and a massive golden flame appeared in the sky.
"It’s Wisdom Fire!" a Buddha shouted in surprise!
Looking toward the Buddha releasing the flames, it turned out to be Wisdom Torch Buddha, and their hearts were steadied.
Wisdom Torch Buddha specialized in the Twelve Fire Skills of Buddhism, and this Wisdom Fire was the first fire among them, the flame born from the burning of the Bodhi Heart.
That Wisdom Torch Buddha could gather so much of the Wisdom Fire all at once showed his depth of research in fire skills.
No matter how strange your flame is, could it possibly be a match for Wisdom Fire?
The Buddhas showed a smug look on their faces, as if Qiong Xiao would be defeated in the next moment!
Flames? Excellent timing!
Qiong Xiao didn’t show a hint of fear; this was a good opportunity to test the abilities of this divine skill.
With a thought, the Ice Devouring Cold Flame immediately converged and smashed toward the Buddhas.
"How audacious!" Wisdom Torch Buddha raged inwardly, daring to show off her fire in front of him was simply courting death!
With a sweep of Wisdom Torch Buddha’s hand, the Wisdom Fire also smashed toward the Ice Devouring Cold Flame.
When the two fires collided, they burst into intense sounds, a fierce struggle between them ensued.
Wisdom Torch Buddha snorted coldly and threw another Buddhist Seal into the mix; the fire expanded several times in an instant, enveloping the Ice Devouring Cold Flame.
"Worthy of being a master of the Buddhist fire techniques, this move with Wisdom Fire is truly awe-inspiring!" the Buddhas began to compliment Wisdom Torch Buddha.
