Chapter 753: 752

Perhaps this thing is like small lobsters, the first time you see it, you might even find it a bit disgusting.

But once you see it more often, just as Chen Nuo said, not only do you no longer fear it, but you also really want to eat it, your eyes light up at the sight of small lobsters.

"Shopkeeper Chen, you really are incredible, to think of such a unique dessert," Nuwa praised in an emotionless voice.

Chen Nuo looked at Nuwa with confusion. "What’s wrong, don’t these suit your taste? Or does Lady Nuwa not like chocolate?"

"It’s not that, I didn’t mean that," Nuwa quickly adjusted her expression. "It’s just that, well, the color of these chocolates doesn’t seem very appetizing, but that’s not your problem, Shopkeeper Chen, it’s probably mine."

Chen Nuo pondered for a moment and realized that indeed, he couldn’t apply modern ideas to the people here, after all, many things were foreign to them, and it was natural for them to be unaccustomed.

Just like their initial reaction to small lobsters, unaccustomed at first, even a bit afraid, but after seeing them more, they wouldn’t be scared at all.

Even as in modern times, upon seeing small lobsters, the brain would automatically categorize them as food.

"However, I am a bit curious," Nuwa said, pointing to the dessert on the table.

"This chocolate, which I also tried last time, that time it was called Black Forest cake, and it really tasted pretty good, but why are these called the Dirty series?"

"Doesn’t Lady Nuwa think the color of this chocolate looks a lot like mud?" Chen Nuo asked.

So, he knew all along, Nuwa felt embarrassed, as these were the very thoughts she had but didn’t voice because she felt it would be impolite to say out loud.

"It does look quite similar, so all these desserts have the Dirty prefix?" Nuwa inquired.

"It’s not just that," Chen Nuo said, picking up the most famous of the Dirty series, a Dirty Bun, and handing it to Nuwa. "Try this Dirty Bun, Lady Nuwa."

Nuwa picked up the bun from the plate, about to eat it, when she noticed the chocolate had gotten all over her hand, and she paused, suddenly understanding the second meaning of ’dirty’.

This thing was indeed very easy to get one’s hands dirty.

Dirtying one’s hands was a minor issue: Nuwa was now immensely grateful that she hadn’t bitten into it earlier, for if she had, she would have ended up with chocolate all over her face and body.

At first glance, it would look just as if one had fallen into a pile of dirt, and that too in front of Shopkeeper Chen, how could she possibly allow that?

But the Dirty Bun was handed to her by Chen Nuo, and she had already picked it up; eating it or not eating it was now a dilemma.

Nuwa felt embarrassed; not eating would be quite impolite, but if she were to eat, Nuwa glanced at Chen Nuo, who was smiling across from her, and then at her hand, already smeared with chocolate just from picking up the bun. How was she supposed to take a bite?

"Shopkeeper Chen, did you make these just to enjoy watching me make a fool of myself?" Nuwa asked.

Chen Nuo’s smile was harmless, "Of course not, Goddess Nuwa is overthinking it. I had already made the desserts before I thought of you."

Nuwa looked at Chen Nuo intensely, still reluctant to bite.

Chen Nuo, knowing what Nuwa was concerned about, pointed at something else.

"If Goddess Nuwa is concerned about her appearance, perhaps she should start with something else. You can take the Dirty Bun back and eat it on your own, that way no one will see."

Nuwa was just waiting for Chen Nuo to say this. Hearing his words, she immediately put down the Dirty Bun in her hand and turned her attention to the Dirty Cake on the side.

The cake came with a fork, and she could use it to take smaller bites. That way, she wouldn’t end up with a face and mouth covered in crumbs, which was substantially better than the Dirty Bun.

Though the appearance still wasn’t very appealing to her at the moment, the taste was absolutely phenomenal.

The cream was whipped to perfection, melting upon contact with the tongue. The flavor of the cocoa powder was both rich and intense, a bitterness unique to cocoa that was quickly neutralized by the cream, creating a deep and sweet flavor without being cloying.

With one bite, Nuwa’s eyes lit up. Just as she was about to put down her fork to heap praise on Chen Nuo, for some reason, she suddenly thought of what Xuan Feng had said to Yang Chan earlier.

After several more bites, she finally placed her fork on the plate and then told Chen Nuo, "Shopkeeper Chen, this cake is really delicious, such a pity though."

Chen Nuo asked with a smile, "A pity about what?"

"It’s a pity that such a delicious cake has been given a name that doesn’t suit its taste at all. At first hearing, it sounds like something a beggar would eat," Nuwa blurted out without holding back.

At the end of her statement, she suddenly remembered something and quickly covered her mouth, "Oh, I didn’t mean to speak ill of beggars."

"Hahaha." Chen Nuo watched Nuwa’s reaction and laughed, "I didn’t say anything, did I? Look at you, letting those words slip out and still trying to make amends?"

Nuwa, caught in Chen Nuo’s smile, paused for a moment and then belatedly blushed. "I didn’t mean anything by it, just thinking that one should still be precise with their words."

"What you said isn’t wrong, indeed one should be more precise," Chen Nuo said. "But that’s for others. With me, you don’t need to be so reserved, and I won’t share what you say with anyone else."

Nuwa nodded, "I understand."

However, what was Shopkeeper Chen’s last comment supposed to mean? Was he implying that he was different from others?

It was no wonder Nuwa’s thoughts ran wild—the ambiguity in Chen Nuo’s words just now was too significant.

She already harbored special feelings for Chen Nuo, so his saying this in front of her... did it mean that he wanted her to be herself around him?

Did he want to see the real her?

Nuwa felt a warm blush on her cheeks and didn’t know what to say to Chen Nuo, so she quickly lowered her head and started to eat the cake before her.

The cake was not very large, less than three inches in size, and in just a short while, Nuwa had finished the cake on her plate.

Chen Nuo pushed an egg tart closer, "Try this, it’s baked. It has a crispy edge and a soft interior with rich layers—I’m sure you will like it."

Without needing an introduction from Chen Nuo, Nuwa was naturally inclined to like it. Anything made by Chen Nuo, she couldn’t dislike.

And it was not just her—judging by the world, all things, even those with the most discerning tastes, would never find fault with the food made by Chen Nuo.

Nuwa picked up the egg tart wrapped in foil and gently bit into it. The crispy crust shattered layer by layer between her teeth with a crisp snap, while the soft custard was tenderer than tofu, carrying the same sweet scent.

However, the egg tart had the added aroma of egg. A bit of cocoa powder accidentally dusted Nuwa’s lips. She extended her tongue to roll the cocoa powder lingering at the corner of her mouth and brought it into her mouth.

Watching this scene, Chen Nuo felt something in his heart flutter unexpectedly.
