Chapter 686: Chapter 685: Taking Ao Lie Out for Dinner

Chen Nuo looked at Ao Lie’s face, a mixture of emotions, and couldn’t help but chuckle.

"Have you ever thought about using your spiritual power to make a mark here, and then whenever someone steps into it, you’d instantly get an alert? That way, no matter where you are, you wouldn’t have to worry about missing anything."

Ao Lie’s eyes immediately brightened, "Can, can you really do that?"

"Why not? Otherwise, what do you think spiritual power is for? Isn’t it meant to make our lives more convenient?" Chen Nuo shrugged.

Before Chen Nuo mentioned it, Ao Lie truly did not know this could be done, "I, I didn’t know, no one has ever told me spiritual power could be used this way."

"That’s true, you’ve been locked up in the water prison for so long, it’s unlikely anyone could have taught you this."

Chen Nuo patted his shoulder, looking sympathetic, "Little White Dragon, that’s what spiritual power is for. I thought you were running low on it, but it looks like you really just didn’t know how to use it."

Ao Lie felt somewhat embarrassed; all those years of persistence, focusing on trivial matters for nothing.

Chen Nuo pinched a dharma seal and created an array over a large area by the shore. Then said to the Little White Dragon, "All right, the array is set up now. Whoever comes by, we’ll get a signal here, so now there’s no need to worry about missing visitors while eating."

"Thank you, if it wasn’t for you, I might have starved to death," Ao Lie thanked Chen Nuo excitedly, then remembered something and asked, "But, we’ve only just met by chance, why are you helping me?"

"I’m helping you because you’re worth helping," Chen Nuo smiled, "I haven’t introduced myself yet, my name is Chen Nuo, and I run a restaurant. You just happen to be hungry; do you see a connection between us?"

A diner and a chef, that’s naturally the best connection.

Now Ao Lie had no doubts about Chen Nuo, he nodded and said cheerfully, "That’s wonderful! Is your shop nearby? Could it be that it’s newly open, and you’re out looking for customers?"

"No, my shop isn’t around here, it’s on Mount Fangcun," Chen Nuo explained, "But I am indeed recruiting customers right now. Follow me, I’ll take you to my restaurant first."

As soon as Chen Nuo finished speaking, he grabbed Ao Lie’s shoulder, a breeze formed beneath their feet, and in the blink of an eye, the two had already arrived in a place with birds singing and flowers fragrant.

The place was tranquil but not isolated.

The sign above the door bore three large characters: Chaos Residence. Ao Lie looked at the majestic lettering and thought that Shopkeeper Chen really was extraordinary.

"Shopkeeper Chen, to pick such a name, and even on Mount Fangcun, you really are..."

Ao Lie didn’t finish his sentence, but Chen Nuo understood what he meant to say, which was nothing more than expressions like awesome.

"There is a reason behind such a name," Chen Nuo said.

Ao Lie nodded, waiting for Chen Nuo to continue, but when Chen Nuo stopped after that sentence, he felt puzzled and hurriedly asked, "Shopkeeper Chen, what about the rest of what you were going to say?"

"What rest?" Chen Nuo looked at Ao Lie, "

"Why should I explain so much to you? Come on in, weren’t you so hungry you could eat a horse when I first saw you? Now you have time to listen to me explain the origin of my restaurant’s name?"

The name was grand and imposing.

A stunned Ao Lie had forgotten he was here to eat, but with Chen Nuo’s reminder, it immediately came back to him. He was indeed here to dine, and since he had arrived, he would certainly eat.

"Oh, okay," Ao Lie followed Chen Nuo into the restaurant.

Chen Nuo headed straight for the kitchen, where Tian Peng, Sun Wukong, and Sha Wujing were all staying. Although the atmosphere wasn’t great, it wasn’t to the point of swords drawn and bows bent.

Seeing Chen Nuo return, Sun Wukong stood up first, "Master, you’re back!"

At Sun Wukong’s voice, the other two quickly turned to look at the door and, seeing it really was Chen Nuo, they all stood up too. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"Shopkeeper, you’re finally back!" Tian Peng shouted at Chen Nuo.

Chen Nuo picked his ears and sidestepped Tian Peng’s pounce, "What are you doing? Anyone would think you’re living on mortal time, while I’m living on Mount Fangcun time."

"Can’t help it, I missed you too much," Tian Peng said, not at all saddened by Chen Nuo’s rejection.

He straightened up and was about to continue talking to Chen Nuo when he noticed there was someone else behind him. Tian Peng paused and said to Chen Nuo, "Shopkeeper, did you recruit another waiter? Did you go to the mortal realm to fish for people? How come you bring someone back every time you go?"

"What do you mean bring someone back every time I go?" Chen Nuo was about to say Tian Peng was talking nonsense, but then he hesitated, as it seemed Tian Peng actually made some sense.

The first time he went to the mortal world, he brought back He Xi, the second time he brought Sha Wujing, and now he had brought back Little White Dragon. What Tian Peng said wasn’t wrong at all.

"No, you’ve got it wrong. I’m not one of your restaurant’s waiters, I’m here to eat," Little White Dragon hurriedly explained before Chen Nuo could speak.

Hearing Little White Dragon say this, Tian Peng finally relaxed. He looked at Little White Dragon, still somewhat disbelieving, "Are you really here to eat?"

"Yes, I was in Eagle Sorrow Stream and was brought here by Shopkeeper Chen," Little White Dragon explained to Tian Peng, "I’m very hungry, and the shopkeeper said he just so happens to run a restaurant. He invited me to come and eat, so I came."

"I see," Tian Peng examined Little White Dragon up and down, "But you look somewhat familiar, I can’t recall where I’ve seen you."

Little White Dragon didn’t respond to Tian Peng’s comment, but first looked at Chen Nuo, then back at Tian Peng, and asked, "Are you and Shopkeeper Chen twins?"

"Huh?" Chen Nuo turned around in surprise and looked at Little White Dragon. "He and I are twins? How did you figure that out?"

"That, um, Master, you haven’t taken off your disguise," Sun Wukong coughed and said.

Chen Nuo finally realized and hastily removed his disguise. He had been wearing Tian Peng’s body for several months, and now that he was back in Chaos Residence, he had forgotten about it.

Only after seeing Chen Nuo’s true form did Ao Lie realize that the person he had seen in the mortal world wasn’t his true form, or rather, he should have known it wasn’t his real form.

The body he had seen in the mortal world also had a commanding presence, but from his behavior and his eyes, it was clear that the outward appearance did not match his inner self. The person who called him Shopkeeper suited that body much better.

Chen Nuo’s true form was very elegant, daunting when not smiling, and warm and gracious when he did. His bearing was commanding, superior to many other immortals that Ao Lie had seen before.

"Shopkeeper, he said that, not me. Please don’t put the blame on my head. I really can’t afford it," Tian Peng immediately said.

Chen Nuo smiled and gave Tian Peng a stern look, "Look at how faint-hearted you are. Did I say I was going to settle accounts with you?"

Tian Peng breathed a sigh of relief, "No, it’s not that I’m afraid you’ll settle accounts with me. I just wanted to clear that up with you in advance."

"Alright, I got it," Chen Nuo nodded.
