Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 450 Nuwa Comes to the Human World
"Matters of the heart cannot be simply ordered by who came first," Goddess Nuwa interrupted Xuan Feng, "Let’s go. Now that we know the whole story, there’s no reason to linger."
"But Goddess Nuwa, I really can’t understand. You are, after all, Goddess Nuwa," Xuan Feng empathized with Nuwa’s plight.
"We, let’s go." Nuwa closed her eyes and mustered all her strength to calm her heart.
As Nuwa, she absolutely could not show her emotions in front of others, especially in front of that man’s disciple.
"Goddess Nuwa." Sun Wukong called out to Nuwa, "If you really want to know the whole truth, you could go to the Human World and ask my Master directly. My Master has an oil shop at the foot of Mount Taihang in the small town."
"Thank you for your kindness, Sun Wukong," Nuwa said, "but Shopkeeper Chen has already started his own family. It would be inappropriate for me to disturb them."
"No way, Goddess Nuwa, we must go!" Xuan Feng insisted, "I really want to see what this mortal woman looks like."
"There’s no need, now that we’ve each gone our separate ways, it’s better not to disturb them."
Nuwa didn’t like the idea of going to the Human World to see their happy family of three. She still managed to act strong and ignore everything, but if she actually saw them together, she feared her emotions would become even more uncontrollable than they were now.
"But Goddess Nuwa..." Xuan Feng truly felt aggrieved for Nuwa.
"We shall take our leave," Nuwa nodded towards Sun Wukong, preparing to leave.
"Is Goddess Nuwa really not going to visit my Master in the Human World?" If Nuwa left just like that, without someone to confirm the story, what if his Master denied everything later on?
Sun Wukong felt it was still necessary for Nuwa to take a trip to the Human World, so his Master wouldn’t be able to deny anything.
"No, thank you," Nuwa declined, "I have a special status and should not descend to the Human World without good reason, lest I frighten the mortals. I wouldn’t want to cause any trouble for that mortal, in case something goes awry and Shopkeeper Chen blames me."
"He wouldn’t dare blame you!" Xuan Feng exclaimed angrily, "If he does, I’ll burn down the whole mountain!"
"Xuan Feng!" Nuwa said sternly, "Behave yourself!"
Xuan Feng felt wronged.
"It really is a pity," Sun Wukong said, "the child has been without a mother for quite a while now."
"What did you say?"
Upon hearing Sun Wukong’s words, Nuwa was stunned, disbelieving her own ears.
"That child’s mother has long been dead," Sun Wukong explained, "I visited my Master yesterday, and he told me the child’s mother passed away a year ago."
"How could the child’s mother pass away with Shopkeeper Chen around?" Nuwa found it hard to believe.
"It’s true, I wouldn’t lie to you about this," Sun Wukong assured, "If you don’t believe me, you could go to the Human World and see for yourself at my Master’s place."
"But why?"
Nuwa sighed with relief but also felt guilty for the sense of joy she experienced.
She never imagined there would come a day when she would take pleasure in a mortal’s death. No, she shouldn’t think like this.
Nuwa shook her head, discarding such thoughts from her mind, "I just want to ask, with Shopkeeper Chen’s mana being so strong, why would he let that mortal die?"
"My master does have powerful mana, but he doesn’t have the spell for healing," Sun Wukong said.
"I see." Nuwa thought for a moment. Aside from those Immortal Officials who excelled in the medical arts and became immortals, only the Nuwa clan knew the spell for healing.
It wasn’t surprising that Shopkeeper Chen lacked the power to heal, but since he lacked this ability, why didn’t he seek help from other Immortal Officials? Nuwa wondered, and she posed this question.
"That child is already ten years old," Sun Wukong said.
"But what does that matter?" Nuwa was puzzled and was about to ask further when something suddenly occurred to her.
Chen Nuo had descended to the Earth Realm not even for seven days; converting the time to the Human World’s scale, it had only been a few years, a quick count on one hand. How could he have a ten-year-old child in such a short time?
"Are you saying?" Nuwa grasped at straws, eager to hear the answer she hoped for from Sun Wukong’s mouth.
"I’m not sure myself. I’ve been busy managing the milk tea shop these past few days and haven’t had any time to deal with my master’s affairs," Sun Wukong said, suppressing a smile. "It’s possible the child isn’t my master’s, but I can’t say for certain. If you really want to know, you should ask my master yourself. After all, I have no interest in these matters."
"If you dare deceive Goddess Nuwa, I’ll burn down your shop!" Xuan Feng threatened.
Threats were the least of Sun Wukong’s worries. Hearing Xuan Feng’s words, he snorted coldly, "If you’ve got the guts, go ahead and burn it. After all, I, Sun Wukong, have nothing to hide. I haven’t spoken any lies. It’s up to you whether you go or not. I’ve got work to do."
"Xuan Feng, show some respect!" Nuwa scolded Xuan Feng. "I’m going down to the Human World for a bit. If you don’t want to come, go back to the mansion."
"I apologize, Goddess. I acknowledge my mistake. Please let me accompany you," Xuan Feng quickly said.
"Come with me, but watch your words," Nuwa instructed.
Xuan Feng eagerly spread his wings. "Goddess, I swear, I really won’t talk carelessly. Please let me accompany you. It’s hard on you to descend alone," he said.
Nuwa said nothing, bid farewell to Sun Wukong, and, with a wave of her sleeve, left the Heavenly Court’s territory for the Earth Realm.
By now, it was the second summer of the next year in the Human World. Mount Taihang was lush and green as Nuwa headed straight for the small town.
Once there, she disguised herself as a common person and walked down the streets of the town.
Because she had disguised herself particularly well, Nuwa’s appearance was inconspicuous, virtually undetectable in the crowd.
She and Xuan Feng walked around the town, looking at the shops along the street while seeking out Chen Nuo’s.
Xuan Feng, having spent most of his time with Nuwa, was not used to the mortal realm, and the bustling town overwhelmed him. He touched everything, acting like a child who had never seen a marketplace before.
Xuan Feng hadn’t disguised himself much, only assuming the appearance and clothing of a human. With his somewhat cute appearance, even if he touched everything at the stalls, he didn’t annoy anyone.
There was a snack stall on the roadside, crowded with children and emitting savory aromas that tempted Xuan Feng’s cravings.
Pointing to the stall, Xuan Feng said, "Goddess, look at that."
Nuwa thought he had spotted Chen’s shop and quickly looked over, but she saw nothing. "What do you want me to look at? Did you find Shopkeeper Chen’s place?"
"Not that," Xuan Feng’s voice lowered a bit, "I think that snack stall smells really good, Goddess Nuwa. Can we go buy something to try? It’s really delicious."
"What’s so good about such stalls?" Nuwa dismissed the idea. "They are just some cheap snacks that can’t make it to a dining table, appealing only to these mortals. They’re nothing compared to what Shopkeeper Chen makes."
"Aww, Goddess Nuwa, it can’t compare to Shopkeeper Chen, but really, look how many people are buying. I want to try some too. It’s cheap, so please let me buy one," Xuan Feng begged coquettishly. "Plus, if I eat the snacks, I’ll keep my mouth busy and won’t talk too much."
