Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 394: Sun Wukong Returns to Chaos Residence
"No, there’s already one," Sun Wukong interrupted the Jade Emperor.
The Jade Emperor naturally did not believe him, "Already one? Impossible, I don’t believe there’s anyone in this world who can consume meat and still manage to achieve Buddhahood."
"Though meat and wine pass through our guts, the Buddha stays within our hearts," Sun Wukong said slowly.
When he said this, he was thinking precisely of Maitreya and Jin Chanzi; among all the followers of Buddhism he had met, only these two could truly embody this saying to its fullest extent.
"Though meat and wine pass through our guts, the Buddha stays within our hearts," the Jade Emperor murmured, feeling the statement to be both sensible and profoundly deep.
Indeed, he really couldn’t grasp the Buddhist terminology, but observing Sun Wukong’s gaze as he recited the saying, the Jade Emperor understood if Sun Wukong could utter these words, it meant that such people indeed existed.
"Alright, I’m not going to quibble over this with you," the Jade Emperor said.
He merely intended to ask the question. Having heard Sun Wukong’s response, he no longer wanted to argue; after all, in the end, even if the Tathagata truly decided to settle accounts, he wouldn’t find his way to him.
"Fine, if there are no problems, then I’ll take my leave now," Sun Wukong said, standing up.
"Where will you go?" the Jade Emperor asked.
"Naturally, I’m heading back to my master. I single-handedly took care of this grand Buddhist culinary banquet. Surely I deserve a few days off?"
Sun Wukong stretched his limbs, "My bones are nearly falling apart from all the cooking, and besides, the work isn’t completely finished yet. I’ll go back to my master and hide away for a few days of peace."
If Sun Wukong was leaving, it meant they would miss out on those delicious dishes; however, thankfully, with the delivery system now in place, one could order directly from Shopkeeper Chen.
"Then fine, you did work hard for this banquet."
The Jade Emperor said, "By the way, didn’t you say there’s a new dish introduced for this Buddhist culinary feast? Can it be ordered through the delivery machine?"
"You can order other dishes, but not that one," Sun Wukong said. "Making that dish consumed too much of my master’s energy. It wouldn’t reflect its value if offered through the delivery machine. Apart from it, all the other dishes can be ordered. But if you want that dish, you’ll have to make a reservation first."
The Jade Emperor felt a bit disappointed, but then remembered how he’d show off another Divine Skill he’d awakened when he returned to the Jade Pool, and wasn’t upset anymore. Such a wonderful dish indeed had to be eaten in person to appreciate its true worth.
Chen Nuo was drinking tea. Tian Peng had been pacing around countless times, making Chen Nuo feel dizzy, "Can you stay still?"
"Sorry, Shopkeeper Chen, I just can’t sit still," Tian Peng replied, sitting down but still fidgeting, "Shopkeeper Chen, how confident are you that Mr. Monkey will be fine?"
Chen Nuo took a sip of tea, "A hundred percent."
"A hundred percent?" Tian Peng stood up from his chair, "Are you truly a hundred percent certain?"
"What? You don’t trust me?" Chen Nuo set down his teacup and looked toward Tian Peng.
Feeling guilty under Chen Nuo’s gaze, Tian Peng hurriedly explained, "No, no, how could I not trust you? I trust you; Mr. Monkey will definitely be alright."
"Hmph," Chen Nuo scoffed coldly, "You don’t look like you believe me."
"As my conscience bears witness, I really do trust you!" Tian Peng raised his hands, "You’re so capable, even more so than those Immortals. If I don’t trust you, then whom can I trust?"
Tian Peng was making a promise to Chen Nuo when a wisp of smoke drifted past, and Sun Wukong suddenly stood behind him.
"What’s this, Tian Peng, chatting with Master behind my back, are you?"
Turning around, Tian Peng saw Sun Wukong standing before him and was instantly moved to tears, "Oh, Mr. Monkey, it’s really you! Look at you, not a scratch. You truly are blessed and lucky!"
Disgusted, Sun Wukong pushed Tian Peng away, "Go on, what’s all this fuss about? I’m always blessed and lucky—no need for you to point that out here."
"It’s good you’re alright, just good."
That was just the way they interacted. Now that Sun Wukong teased him like the old times, Tian Peng finally felt a great weight lifted off his heart.
"Me? In trouble?" Sun Wukong snorted, walking up to Chen Nuo, "Master, I’ve completed the task you gave me."
"Hmm," Chen Nuo nodded, taking a sip of tea, "You’re a tad later than I had anticipated."
"It’s just a little while, Master. Don’t start nitpicking, will you?" Sun Wukong reported to Chen Nuo and casually stood at attention, "Those Immortal Officials are such troublemakers. If not for them, I would’ve been back much sooner."
"Hmm," Chen Nuo nodded again, "After this task, you don’t have to stay in the Heavenly Court, but where you want to go next is up to you."
"Hmm, if I don’t go to the Heavenly Court, I would stay by Master’s side, but I know you’d find me clingy. So, I’ll just stick around in the Heavenly Court a bit longer, and when there’s something to do, I’ll go do something else."
"As you wish." Chen Nuo had finished the cup of tea in his hand. Sun Wukong noticed and quickly stood up to pour another cup for him.
After pouring the tea, he didn’t forget to give Tian Peng a kick, "You blockhead, can’t you see what’s needed here?"
Tian Peng chuckled sheepishly, "Heh heh, you’re here, aren’t you? If I took your job, you’d be even more annoyed."
He wasn’t wrong there. Regardless of whether Tian Peng did anything or not, as long as he stood there Sun Wukong would certainly find something to gripe about.
"By the way, Master, didn’t you say you were looking into a new beverage? How’s that coming along? Is there something I can help with?"
Sun Wukong had remembered this when he went to the Heavenly Court. Previously, he had been so busy with the Buddhism feast that he completely forgot about it. Now that was over, he remembered.
"There is indeed something." Chen Nuo thought for a moment, then shared his decision to open a chain of stores with Sun Wukong.
"A chain of stores? Master, don’t you already have a delivery robot? Anyone who wants to order food can just use the robot, no matter where they are. Why would you need a chain of stores?"
Sun Wukong was puzzled, "Plus, your cooking skill is unique to you. Wouldn’t opening a chain spread you too thin?"
"Impatient as always, I haven’t even finished talking yet." Chen Nuo was just starting when Sun Wukong interrupted him.
"Heh heh, can’t help it, my mouth just runs too fast." Sun Wukong scratched his head, "You talk, you talk. I promise I won’t interrupt again."
"This chain won’t sell anything else, just milk tea. What I need now is a good reputation and manpower. The first branch is set to open in the Heavenly Court. It works out since you’re not leaving—it’s perfect for you to take care of the milk tea store for me," Chen Nuo explained.
"That’s no problem at all," Sun Wukong agreed right away, "But I’m a bit confused. How is the milk tea shop different from your cooking? Why can’t you have branches for food, but you can for milk tea? What if I can’t replicate the taste you have in mind?"
"That’s not a problem." Chen Nuo beckoned Sun Wukong to sit down, "As long as we follow the exact measurements, even Tian Peng can make delicious milk tea."
