Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 360: Tasting Deliciousness, Xuan Feng’s Awakening
"What you’re saying makes it sound like you’re the one being noble, considering the Queen Mother of the West has come all this way."
"Baihua."
"Xuan Feng."
Jade Pool and Goddess Nuwa spoke up at the same time to interrupt the two who were bickering.
"Fairy, rest assured, since I, Chen Nuo, have made this promise, naturally I won’t let you return disappointed after coming with such anticipation."
Chen Nuo gestured for the Roc Demon King to pour water for them, "Buddha Jumps Over the Wall will be right over, please wait a moment, fairies."
After finishing his words, Chen Nuo left the main hall.
The Roc Demon King also sensed that something was amiss here, and to prevent the potential conflict from affecting him, he promptly walked away after pouring the water.
The few of them were sitting face to face, no one speaking a word.
Goddess Nuwa took a sip of her tea while sitting down, blaming Xuan Feng for her quick mouth. It seemed that a good education was in order once they returned.
This Chen Nuo appeared young on the surface, yet he was able to cook such delicious dishes, and his disciples weren’t too shabby either. But why had she never heard of him before? How had he managed to become so renowned in just a few short years?
What was most important was that Goddess Nuwa looked in the direction Chen Nuo had left.
She had originally thought he must at least be a Quasi-Saint, otherwise his proximity to the Mountain of Mind and Heart wouldn’t have escaped the notice of other immortals.
As an ancient celestial, she couldn’t even discern his cultivation level when face to face.
Just who was this Chen Nuo, and if they were to become enemies, she wondered what kind of bloody turmoil it would create.
Fortunately, for the time being, he seemed rather stable, as she hadn’t heard of him doing anything other than becoming famous for his cooking over the years.
Perhaps, Goddess Nuwa pondered as she lifted her cup and took a drink, he truly was just someone who enjoyed cooking.
"My lady, it smells so good."
While she was contemplating, Xuan Feng suddenly remarked, "Have you smelled this scent? I’ve never smelt something so fragrant, it’s even better than the hot pot we had before."
The aroma was rich and tantalizing; merely smelling it was enough to stir the soul, even before seeing the dish itself.
And based on the scent alone, one could guess that the dish wouldn’t disappoint.
Goddess Nuwa swallowed quietly, reminding herself that she was not in her own palace and should not embarrass herself.
"Xuan Feng," Goddess Nuwa cautioned her, "watch your behavior."
Xuan Feng pouted discontentedly, "But it really does smell amazing."
"Hmm, no self-control," Fairy Baihua scoffed.
Though she too couldn’t help but swallow her saliva, such a perfect opportunity to taunt someone was something Fairy Baihua wouldn’t pass up.
"You’re one to talk. I saw you swallowing your saliva," Xuan Feng retorted with a roll of her pretty phoenix eyes at Fairy Baihua, "We’re no different from each other. Who are we to judge?"
Fairy Baihua blushed slightly but held back from responding.
There was no helping it; the other had caught her swallowing her saliva.
"Shopkeeper Chen! Is it ready yet?" Xuan Feng called out into the hall.
No sooner had her words faded than a small circular array appeared in front of the fairies’ table, and shortly after, a porcelain white pot with printed designs appeared on it.
"Buddha Jumps Over the Wall is ready. Please enjoy," said Chen Nuo, who had appeared before them seemingly out of nowhere.
Goddess Nuwa raised her eyebrows in surprise, that was fast.
It was to such an extent that even she hadn’t noticed his approach; it was as though Shopkeeper Chen had appeared out of thin air. What kind of mana was this, what path had he cultivated so subtly that she could not feel it at all?
Could it be that Shopkeeper Chen’s mana surpassed her own?
At this thought, Goddess Nuwa shook her head again, no, that couldn’t be. Although her own mana was not the absolute best in this world, it was certainly among the top.
Moreover, there were only a few who ranked above her, all of whom she was familiar with, so who exactly was this Chen Nuo?
"Goddess Nuwa, your Buddha Jumps Over the Wall is ready. Aren’t you eating it now?"
While the others were feasting merrily, only Nuwa remained still, prompting Chen Nuo to speak up and remind her, "If you don’t eat it now, the taste might not be as good later."
"Oh, thank you, I’ll start eating."
Nuwa hurriedly picked up the spoon.
Xuan Feng, who was eating quickly at the side, paused when she heard Nuwa’s thanks. This was the second time she had heard Goddess Nuwa say thank you.
It was astonishing to see a deity, who held such a high opinion of herself and whose power certainly matched her pride, actually saying thank you!
Was this the power of delicious food?
She only pondered for a moment, as the Buddha Jumps Over the Wall in front of her was too delicious. Better to focus on eating.
As Nuwa lifted the lid off the small pot, the aroma mixed with steam rushed towards her, dampening her long eyelashes.
Even before the dish was served, she had already smelled its fragrance, although it was faint. While it was mouthwatering, it was still bearable.
But the aroma from the small pot in front of her, compared to the ethereal scent from before, was like a drop in the ocean - a fragrance that made one’s fingers itch with eagerness to eat.
The aroma filled her nostrils and swept through her brain in an instant.
Now unable to endure any longer, Nuwa quickly picked up a spoon and started to eat.
The moment a scallop touched her tongue, Nuwa nearly leaped from her seat.
What kind of deliciousness was this? Fragrant! Tender! Bouncy! Smooth!
One bite made her nearly want to chew off her own tongue.
The golden soup, a blend of dozens of fragrances, was thick but not greasy, both aromatic and fresh.
Nuwa had intended to gracefully offer some compliments, but from the instant the Buddha Jumps Over the Wall entered her mouth, she couldn’t say a word. She just wanted to devour the food in front of her, not even aware of where she was.
Seeing them engrossed in the meal, Chen Nuo left the hall.
He hadn’t intended to exchange words with them, let alone await their praise – their actions were praise enough.
Xuan Feng, growing unsatisfied with spooning her food slowly, simply picked up the pot and scraped it eagerly with her spoon.
Lively by nature, with the appearance and demeanor of a young girl, such behavior didn’t come off as rude to others but rather added a playful charm.
Of course, the few present paid no mind to watch her, as if there were nothing more important in the world than the small pot in front of them.
After gobbling down her food, Xuan Feng finished the contents of the pot, having started eating first and, caught up in the enjoyment, also finishing first.
After eating, reluctant to wipe her mouth, she checked if anyone was watching. Seeing no one was, she extended her tongue to lick the soup that had stained her lips clean.
She then felt a sense of loss. After waiting so many days, she had only this small pot of food, barely enough to fill the gaps between her teeth.
Yet, even if she complained, there wouldn’t be a second serving, so she could only rest her head on the table and watch Nuwa eat.
As she lay there, Xuan Feng noticed something was amiss. A warm feeling started in her belly and spread towards her chest. Although swift, it wasn’t uncomfortable.
Xuan Feng was about to call for Chen Nuo when she suddenly remembered something. This sensation, could it be?
The warmth reached her limbs, and Xuan Feng was overjoyed. That’s it, that’s the feeling! It couldn’t be wrong.
Indeed! She was about to awaken her Divine Skills!
So, Xuan Feng sat up straight, closed her eyes, and allowed the warmth to spread, preparing to welcome the arrival of her Divine Skills.
...
Under the Enlightenment Tea Tree at Chaos Residence.
Chen Nuo was stir-frying tea leaves. The process for making black tea was different from that for green tea. He had previously stir-fried black tea for milk tea and was now attempting to stir-fry green tea.
