Chapter 328: Chapter 328 Fate

"By tomorrow, all those spirit beasts gathered outside will surely have dispersed, and we’ll sneak into the cave abode during mealtime."

"That way, even if something unexpected happens and we’re discovered, Yun Zhongzi won’t be able to slip away easily."

Without a few explanations, do you really want to storm out of a banquet hosted by Buddhism right in front of their faces?

"Peng is right!" Xiong Daoren immediately expressed his agreement.

Xiaotian Dog originally wanted to disagree, but after giving it some thought, he realized it really was the case—better not to snatch defeat from the jaws of death.

The dog lifted his head proudly, "Then this lord will condescend to listen to you guys this once!"

Upon hearing this, Tian Peng’s temple throbbed with a protruding vein, that Xiaotian really was asking for a beating!

Taking a deep breath, "Today let’s consider making a few more preparations to ensure everything goes off without a hitch!"

Meanwhile, in the Heavenly Court, the Imperial Kitchen.

"I’ll be leaving the Imperial Kitchen in your care for these next few days!" Sun Wukong said with a cheery grin as he packed his bag, addressing the God of Cookery and the Kitchen God.

"No way! Chef Wukong, please don’t go!" The Two Deities wailed in despair, banging their heads on the floor.

It was truly a heart-wrenching scene.

"What’s the matter? Is it really that bad?" Sun Wukong asked somewhat helplessly, "I’m not leaving for good. I’m just going to help Buddhism with cooking for a feast, not joining them."

He had already told the Jade Emperor over dinner that he would always be a chef in the Heavenly Court!

The two Deities looked as if they were bearing the weight of a great injustice—it wasn’t about how long he’d be gone!

The last time Chef Wukong had stayed in Chaos Residence for two days, the immortals in Heavenly Court nearly flayed them alive!

They were truly terrified! Their own modest cooking skills were simply not appreciated by anyone!

Seeing the two still reluctant, Sun Wukong slapped his forehead and realized the reason.

"Don’t worry, the same issue definitely won’t happen again..."

After saying this, Sun Wukong immediately used his divine skill, Thousands of Threads and Strands, to split into four or five clones, infusing each with mana.

Looking at these clones, Sun Wukong commanded, "While I’m gone, you guys must work hard at cooking, understood?"

"Yes!" The clones answered in unison, then systematically proceeded into the kitchen.

"With this, things should be fine. The mana I’ve infused should last them easily four or five days without trouble," Sun Wukong chuckled.

The Two Deities exchanged glances and reluctantly nodded, "Thank you, Chef Wukong."

Last time, the afternoon the Jade Emperor asked Chef Wukong for a meal, these clones proved quite useful. Ok, they would trust them one more time.

Anyway, no matter what, it wasn’t for the likes of two junior deities to change this decision.

"Off I go!" Sun Wukong prepared to leave through the back.

If he were to leave openly, he’d definitely be stopped by the queue of immortals outside—of his popularity in the Heavenly Court, he was well aware.

To conceal himself, Sun Wukong immediately used one of his eleven divine skills, Cultivating Purity and Transforming Form, to turn into a tiny bug.

Cultivating Purity and Transforming Form: Nurtures the origin power to mimic all things under heaven, allowing the body to change form while also possessing the mighty attributes of the transformed object, though unable to replicate the upper limits of power. This transformation only assumes the form but is still difficult to discern with the naked eye.

This divine skill was leagues above Sun Wukong’s Fiend Transformations from the original tale.

Fiend Transformations was a classic example of having only the form.

In the original story, Sun Wukong, concerned only with quantity, chose the Fiend Transformations, overlooking the more advanced Heavenly Gang Transformations, truly putting the cart before the horse.

Heavenly Gang Transformations, also known as Fetal Transformation and Easy Shapeshifting, is a collective divine skill encompassing thirty-six changes of Heavenly Gang.

Just one Fetal Transformation and Easy Shapeshifting skill could outmatch the seventy-two Fiend Transformations because it focuses on essence.

Whatever you change into, you inherit that thing’s abilities. However, it also has a downside—Fetal Transformation and Easy Shapeshifting requires comprehension of the essence of the transformed object.

One cannot transform if they do not have a thorough understanding.

That’s the reason why, during the Journey to the West, Tian Peng could not transform many things, but once he managed, even Sun Wukong with his Eyes of Golden Flame could not discern the truth.

Sun Wukong, after awakening the skill of Cultivating Purity and Transforming Form from Chen Nuo, possessed a form that was both tangible and substantial, capable of seamless transitions. Moreover, it automatically induced transformations using the origin power conceived within his body,

as long as it didn’t exceed his own strength, he could transform into anything tangible and substantial, which was akin to a combined and enhanced version of Heavenly Stars and Earthly Fiends.

Transformed into a tiny insect, Sun Wukong flew safely out of the South Heavenly Gate, evading the sight of all immortals.

However, this scene did not escape the observational power of the Heavenly Eye. In the Diligence Hall, after retracting the Haotian Mirror, Haotian let out a quiet sigh.

Has it finally started?

Once outside the South Heavenly Gate, Sun Wukong reverted to his original form and headed west, following the directions given by Maitreya.

With his Divine Skills, his flying speed was extremely fast, and it didn’t take long for him to reach Spirit Mountain.

The mountain ranges were majestic and towering, piercing the clouds, and the mountain itself was bathed in golden light, as if the entire mountain was made of gold, truly magnificent and grand!

Sun Wukong was momentarily stunned, with a touch of awe in his eyes. This was his first time seeing such a formidable mountain!

Turns out the Monk’s residence isn’t half bad.

Sun Wukong didn’t approach the mountain from the front with great fanfare but instead flew to a spot behind it, the meeting place he had agreed upon with Maitreya.

As expected, as soon as Sun Wukong arrived, he saw Maitreya and several silver-haired Bhikkhunis waiting for him.

Upon seeing Sun Wukong, Maitreya’s eyes gleamed, and he teleported in front of Sun Wukong, his chubby face beaming with a smile, "Wukong, you’ve finally arrived!"

"I was worried you had changed your mind and wouldn’t come," said Maitreya, filled with relief.

He had been waiting for Sun Wukong to cook for him to satisfy his cravings!

Thank goodness, thank goodness. If Sun Wukong couldn’t make it to the Dharma banquet, Maitreya felt he would go mad.

These days, the Buddhist vegetarian dishes were enough to make him sick!

"How could I?" Sun Wukong patted his chest, declaring righteously, "When I, Old Sun, give my word, it’s as good as gold. I said I’d help with your banquet, and I’ll help."

"That’s great, that’s just great!" Maitreya nodded repeatedly, his smile so wide he could hardly close his mouth.

"Ah, right!" Maitreya leaned in a bit closer, lowering his voice to ask, "Wukong, have you decided on the menu for the banquet?"

"Of course!" replied Sun Wukong without hesitation.

He had already drawn up the menu—if not, he would have felt embarrassed to show up!

"How much meat is on the menu?" Maitreya hastily inquired.

This was what he was most concerned about. The taste of meat—whoever eats it knows it’s too exquisite!

"Only one dish," Sun Wukong replied truthfully.

"What?" Maitreya blinked, momentarily confused, and then anxiously asked, "Didn’t I tell you to prepare lots of meat dishes? Why is there only one?"

"Although there’s only one, I can assure you it will be absolutely delicious!" Sun Wukong promised solemnly.

It wasn’t just confidence in himself, but also in the Buddha Jumps Over the Wall dish his master had taught him.

He might not have reached his master’s level of expertise, but he had learned enough—the taste of Buddha Jumps Over the Wall would not disappoint!

However, Maitreya was not aware of Buddha Jumps Over the Wall and was still somewhat reluctant, "Even so, isn’t one meat dish a bit too meager?"

Hearing this, Sun Wukong’s mouth twitched slightly, somewhat speechlessly, "One is plenty. Doesn’t your Buddhism only eat vegetarian food?"

"Do you think everyone is like you?"

Sun Wukong gave Maitreya a look that was laced with slight contempt.
