Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 325: Taibai Regrets, Dharma Banquet Held
That was a close call! Jade Pool breathed a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, she hadn’t been too rash to say she wanted it all, otherwise Haotian might have been able to break free from the Divine Skills!
The allure of Shopkeeper Chen’s dishes was simply too great!
With that thought, Jade Pool stepped forward with graceful steps, and without another word, directly picked up the box of Crispy Fried Chicken.
In a gentle voice, she said, "I only need this, the rest is not necessary."
"Alright," Haotian nodded, feeling a bit less guilty.
After Jade Pool left, Haotian managed to free himself from the influence of the Divine Skills and his mind went blank for a moment, then memories slowly resurfaced.
"Damn!"
Haotian couldn’t help but curse, his face showing anger, Jade Pool had used her Divine Skills to trick him again!
And she had taken his Crispy Fried Chicken, no less!
Those Divine Skills were absolutely disgusting!
Haotian felt an unbearable urge to leap up and get his precious fried chicken back, but in the end, he restrained himself.
After all, he was in the wrong here!
Whether it was under the influence of Divine Skills or not, it was something he, Haotian, had agreed to himself.
As the Jade Emperor, his word was absolute; he could not go back on it!
Alas, Haotian couldn’t help but heave a long sigh, mourning the loss of his Crispy Fried Chicken—it was gone just like that!
"Your Majesty, please accept my condolences," Taibai Jin said with concern.
After all, that was the Goddess! Not someone to mess with!
However, Taibai Jin’s instinctual fawning concern suddenly caught Haotian’s attention.
"You also had a fair share. Why are you only targeting me?" Haotian glared at Taibai Jin with an unhappy expression.
Upon hearing this, Taibai Jin shivered and gave a nervous chuckle, "Your Majesty, this humble old one is too insignificant for the Goddess to bother with, she is ever so magnanimous!"
While he said this, Taibai Jin couldn’t help but feel relieved that the Goddess hadn’t come after him; otherwise, like His Majesty, he would have been in tears!
"Your Majesty, even though the fried chicken is gone, isn’t there still wine?"
Your Majesty has both wine and soda, shouldn’t that be enough? Taibai Jin tried to console him.
Even so, the more Haotian thought about it, the angrier he became. No, this wouldn’t do!
Haotian steeled his resolve and made a decision. Looking at Taibai Jin, he said, "You also drank half of the Peach Blossom Porridge, so you’re involved!
"The things you ordered haven’t been touched yet, right? So here’s the deal: give His Majesty your items as compensation; after all, the money came from me."
As soon as these words came out, Taibai Jin’s face fell.
"Your Majesty, please don’t!" Taibai wailed, begging for mercy—he had finally got the chance to enjoy a meal cooked by Shopkeeper Chen!
"Your Majesty, that’s my staple, what am I to eat without it?" Taibai Jin pleaded pitifully, as if his heart was on the floor.
"I’m not asking for everything you have. Didn’t you also order wine and soda?"
"That should be enough for you to drink," Haotian said dismissively, applying the same treatment he had received back to Taibai Jin.
And what of it if there was nothing to eat? Could one die from starving for a meal or two?
Mortals manage just fine, let alone Immortals?
Taibai Jin: "..."
Why did he have to run his mouth off to His Majesty? Now he had shot himself in the foot.
Taibai Jin’s face was a picture of struggle; he dared not defy the Emperor’s orders, but parting with his meal would torment him to death.
However, Haotian didn’t force the issue with a command and merely smiled faintly, "Do me this favor..."
Inside Chaos Residence, Chen Nuo leaned back in his chair by the window, gazing at the starry night sky, lost in thought.
"Shopkeeper, you’ve been sitting there for quite a while, what’s on your mind?" Roc Demon King who just finished cleaning up after dinner, came out of the kitchen and seeing Chen Nuo still in that state, couldn’t help but ask.
Hearing the words, the Gold Winged Great Roc, who was wiping tables and chairs inside the house, also looked over, his eyes filled with a trace of curiosity.
"It’s nothing." Chen Nuo shook his head slightly and looked towards the Two Demons.
As if thinking of something, Chen Nuo took out two Sound Transmission Stones and, with a pull of his mana, sent them flying towards the Two Demons.
"Take these Sound Transmission Stones. If you run into any issues while delivering food, use these to contact me at any time," Chen Nuo said softly.
Just like with today’s situation, it was fortunate that Taibai Jin recognized it, or otherwise, would it not have been a mistake on Chaos Residence’s part?
"Understood, Shopkeeper!"
Chen Nuo waved his hand: "Alright, there’s nothing more, you can all go back to your rooms to cultivate."
He wouldn’t completely deprive the Two Demons of their cultivation time despite the work.
"Yes!"
Having sent the Two Demons away, Chen Nuo’s gaze returned to the starry sky again. Wukong would be heading to Buddhism tomorrow, wouldn’t he!
Chen Nuo thought to himself.
What Buddhism had in mind, Chen Nuo was all too clear about. They simply wished to continue the Journey to the West, looking for an excuse to lure Wukong there for further suppression.
Nevertheless, even to the end, he did not reveal the truth to Wukong.
For Buddhism, this was an opportunity for the Journey to the West to smoothly return to the right path, but for Wukong, how is this not also a stage for him to prove himself?
If one turns cowardly upon facing setbacks, that’s not what he had hoped for.
Rather be the Great Sage Equal to Heaven than the Fighting Buddha.
Wukong might not be arrogant now, but that doesn’t mean he lacks pride in his heart. For Buddhism to think about suppressing Wukong, such thoughts are no different from dreaming!
Wukong’s strength was far more than what his realm revealed, possessing eleven kinds of powerful Divine Skills, which not even a Daluo Golden Immortal could easily handle.
Besides, the safety net he left for Wukong was very secure. Retreating safely should be no issue.
Thinking of this, Chen Nuo’s fingers subconsciously tapped on the tabletop, his gaze deep.
Due to the restaurant’s expansion, his range of invincibility had grown larger as well, basically covering a large part of Mountain of Mind and Heart without the slightest fear.
Of course, reciprocity is the way of the world. If Buddhism plans against Wukong, hasn’t he also prepared a grand gift for Buddhism?
When the Buddhist ceremony begins, it will coincide with the launch of the new dish. He was curious to see how these people would maintain their composure.
Longevity Mountain, Wu Zhuang Temple.
A woman dressed in white, with a jeweled crown, held the Jade Clean Bottle in one hand and gently knocked twice on the vermilion door of the temple.
A moment passed.
"Who is it?" A crisp and childish voice came from behind the door.
The woman performed a Buddhist salute and said softly, "This humble monk Guanyin has been entrusted by the Buddha Ancestor to seek an audience with Immortal Zhenyuan."
"My master has said before that he is in closed-door cultivation and will not meet with anyone." The voice behind the door was unequivocal in its rejection, faithfully relaying the master’s words.
Upon hearing this, the originally compassionate and gentle countenance of Guanyin stiffened, and a surge of resentment arose in her heart. How could Master Zhenyuan, a Quasi-Saint of such ability, fail to detect her arrival?
To speak thus was clearly to snub her.
However, her long-practiced demeanor in cultivating her Qi allowed her to not show any signs of displeasure.
"May I trouble you to pass on a message on behalf of this humble monk? The Buddhist feast will officially begin tomorrow. This humble monk, on behalf of Buddhism, invites Immortal Zhenyuan to grace the banquet at Spirit Mountain. I hope he will honor us with his presence," said Guanyin, still with a gentle and soothing voice.
After a moment of silence,
"Okay then." The voice from behind the door once again spoke up.
"This humble monk takes her leave."
Guanyin performed another Buddhist salute towards the vermilion door, but there was no further movement from behind the door.
After waiting several breaths and still seeing no change,
Guanyin’s face flashed with indignation as she turned and swiftly departed.
