Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 314: Power of the Saint
"Shopkeeper Chen!" Suddenly, an old but benevolently tinged voice rang out, interrupting Chen Nuo’s words.
Chen Nuo and the two demons looked over and found it was Taibai Jin, and behind him, followed Fairy Baihua.
Chen Nuo’s brows rose, he had been somewhat indecisive about whom to choose? That problem was now solved with more business coming in.
"Shopkeeper Chen, this humble one has come under the Emperor’s orders to buy groceries!" Taibai Jin stepped through the doorway, cheerfully bowing with clasped hands.
Having accompanied the Emperor in partaking plenty yesterday, Taibai Jin’s heart was delightfully content.
Fairy Baihua was similar, her face bearing a respectful demeanor as she graciously bowed; "Fairy Baihua, following the Goddess’s command, I have come to buy groceries from Shopkeeper Chen."
Both had received their orders and just happened to meet at the South Heavenly Gate, deciding to come together.
Chen Nuo shrugged his shoulders: "I’m sorry, but as of today, Chaos Residence will cease its personal shopping service."
"What?" Both were stunned.
Taibai Jin’s complexion twitched anxiously as he asked, "Shopkeeper Chen, why is this?"
Why would such a rule suddenly be put in place?
Fairy Baihua also appeared puzzled, her face expressing bewilderment and urgent concern. Failing to fulfill the Goddess’s task would surely lead to punishment!
Chen Nuo pondered for a moment and then explained: "Chaos Residence has launched a remote ordering and home delivery service. From now on, you don’t need to come here; simply place your order from your own abode, and it will be delivered directly to your home by Chaos Residence’s exclusive couriers."
After speaking, Chen Nuo coughed lightly, and the two demons, catching the hint, immediately stepped forward.
"These two are the couriers I’ve hired; rest assured, their flight speed is extremely fast, and they can deliver even to the farthest corners of the earth in the shortest time," Chen Nuo introduced casually.
Looking at the proudly standing Roc Demon King and the Great Roc, Taibai Jin’s pupils shrank, and he involuntarily stepped back half a step.
With a look of amazement, he raised his hand and tremulously asked, "You are the Great Roc and the Roc Demon King?!"
He felt they looked familiar when he walked in. Now, observing them closely from this short distance, he finally recognized them.
One a member of Buddhism and the other a renowned Demon King from the Lower Realm, why would they be at Shopkeeper Chen’s place?
Having followed the Jade Emperor, Taibai Jin was knowledgeable and acquainted with most immortals of the Three Realms.
"To think that you old man would recognize me?" the Great Roc was a bit surprised but felt quite proud inside.
For them in the Demon Clan, it was all about reputation!
Meanwhile, the Roc Demon King felt somewhat displeased.
Being placed after the Great Roc, was he considered inferior to the Great Roc?
Strokeing his beard with an embarrassed smile, Taibai Jin nodded repeatedly and bowed: "Your fame is widespread, of course, I recognize you."
Both were not easy creatures to deal with, and they were very powerful!
If he normally saw them from a distance, he would turn tail without a word.
Truly worthy of being Shopkeeper Chen, daring to employ these two demons in his store.
Upon hearing Taibai’s words, Fairy Baihua’s face also went a bit pale.
Although she wasn’t very familiar with them, she could tell from what Taibai Jin had said that these two demons were no benevolent beings.
Watching their reactions, Chen Nuo felt somewhat helpless, having indeed overlooked the issue of the demons’ reputation.
He paused, and then said: "They are now exclusive couriers of Chaos Residence, so there’s nothing to worry about."
Chen Nuo’s statement served like a soothing pill, instantly calming Taibai Jin and Fairy Baihua down.
Nodding, they said, "Alright then."
The two expressed their trust, not in the demons, but in what Shopkeeper Chen said.
No matter how ferocious a member of the Demon Clan might be, if Shopkeeper Chen said it was alright, then it certainly was.
Meanwhile, Xuan Feng sped back to the main hall where Nuwa was located.
"Have you bought it?" As she stepped in, even before Xuan Feng could speak, she heard a voice that was beautifully melodious yet maintained an air of dignity.
Looking at Nuwa who was already prepared at the table, Xuan Feng hesitated and then whispered like the faintest mosquito, "I didn’t, didn’t buy it."
Nuwa’s phoenix brows knit slightly, and an almost imperceptible aura spread out as her vermillion lips parted lightly, "Why not?"
Xuan Feng felt oppressively uncomfortable: "Shopkeeper Chen said that as of today, he can no longer provide a purchase proxy service!"
A purchase proxy no longer available?!
Nuwa’s expression grew even poorer.
Seeing Nuwa like this, Xuan Feng quickly added another comment: "However, Shopkeeper Chen mentioned that they are now offering a delivery service, allowing remote ordering."
"A delivery service?" Nuwa mused inwardly, although what caught her attention was Xuan Feng’s other mention of ’remote ordering.’
Could there be a turnaround in this matter?
The aura dissipated.
Xuan Feng breathed a sigh of relief, took out a crystal slab, and walked over to present it to Nuwa.
"Your Majesty, this is the latest delivery device from Chaos Residence."
"A delivery device? What is that?" Nuwa took the crystal slab that had been polished exquisitely and engraved with patterns, a flicker of amazement in her beautiful eyes.
"It’s something crafted by Shopkeeper Chen that allows ordering food remotely," Xuan Feng explained, then proceeded to describe how to use the delivery device.
After listening to Xuan Feng’s explanation, Nuwa’s interest grew, her slender jade fingers gently fidgeting with the delivery device, swiping images back and forth on the Image Retaining Stone.
"This Shopkeeper Chen is truly a great talent," Nuwa murmured in admiration, though having never met him, her appreciation was evident without need for words.
"Yes, yes!" Xuan Feng nodded in agreement enthusiastically.
In her heart, Shopkeeper Chen was the perfect person!
Indeed! Being able to make delicious food marks perfection itself.
"So I just need to keep my hand at the very bottom to check the payment method?" Nuwa asked softly.
"Yes!"
Feng’er’s charge was Vital Blood; she wondered what hers would be.
Nuwa pondered deeply, her verdant jade finger touching the crystal on the lower edge of the slab.
Following that, the device provided feedback, and a flash of surprise crossed Nuwa’s beautiful eyes.
This device, it actually required a strand of Power of the Saint as the payment standard.
The Power of the Saint in the Three Realms, exceedingly rare, could be said to be more sought after than obtainable.
For those below the level of saints to possess such power meant having an invincible life-saving talisman or an assured victory strategy, as long as they did not provoke other saints.
But for them, the saints themselves, this power was nothing out of the ordinary.
The Power of the Saint simply referred to their own strength, and as saints, they had as much as they needed.
This meant that while the payment standard was nearly insurmountable for others, for her, it was as simple as taking a drop of water from the ocean.
However, now the Three Realms were quite wary of the power of saints.
Because the previous war of saints nearly shattered the entire Primordial World.
Although later their teacher reformed the Primordial Land into four great continents, the stability of the Three Realms had not recovered to its former state.
Otherwise, their teacher would not have compelled The Three Pure Ones and those two from the West to confine themselves to Zixiao Palace and remain unseen in the world.
Only she, who had not been much involved, was allowed to stay in the Primordial World, yet she had no permission to act, nor could she meddle with the affairs of the Three Realms at will.
Therefore, since then, these saints would not easily bestow the Power of the Saint.
Previously, the reason she granted Sun Wukong a dose of the Power of the Saint was partly due to the karmic connection with her and partly because Sun Wukong had taken the position as Shopkeeper Chen’s apprentice.
