Chapter 305: 305

"Gold, Golden Roc, pays respect to Shopkeeper Chen!" stammered the Golden Roc.

The answer did not match the question asked.

Seeing this, Chen Nuo understood everything; here was yet another person who attempted to probe his cultivation level and ended up being scared witless by him.

There was no helping it, being invincible was just this lonely.

With a resigned nod, Chen Nuo asked again, "What would you like to eat?"

Chen Nuo’s calm demeanor allowed the Golden Roc to breathe a sigh of relief. Thankfully, this great being did not take offence at his impoliteness, otherwise, he would have been in big trouble.

Even if his brother was Kong Xuan, that didn’t guarantee he would be given any face.

As for what to eat?

The Golden Roc hesitated, then remembered what the Roc Demon King had told him about this place being a restaurant.

He opened his mouth, but no words came out—he didn’t know what was available here.

Before the Golden Roc could react, a menu was handed over to him.

"This is the menu of Chaos Residence. Take a look and see what you want," Chen Nuo said softly.

It didn’t matter whether he could become a candidate for Chaos Residence’s delivery service or not; come in, make a profit first, and talk later.

"Alright." The Golden Roc quickly nodded in agreement and turned the pages of the menu as instructed.

The next moment, the Golden Roc’s eyes were firmly glued to the menu, unable to tear away.

Were these dishes drawn in such a tempting manner?

Could they really be made?

Just looking at the pictures, the Golden Roc couldn’t help but swallow his saliva, his appetite crying out.

"Is this the menu? Shopkeeper Chen, have you changed the menu?" the Roc Demon King asked curiously, looking at the menu that was vastly different from the original.

"Yes," Chen Nuo nodded and casually explained, "Since the decoration of the restaurant has changed, I thought I’d update this as well."

"Shopkeeper, you have a real eye for decoration; it’s unique and looks noble and splendid!" the Roc Demon King praised effusively with a beaming smile.

"I almost didn’t recognize it at first glance! It’s too good-looking!"

"Oh?" Chen Nuo raised an eyebrow, his voice tinged with amusement, "Are you saying that the previous Chaos Residence wasn’t nice to look at?"

"No, no, no!" The color drained from the Roc Demon King’s face as he smiled obsequiously, "The previous Chaos Residence was also antique and fresh; between the two, it’s hard to pick a winner, each with its own charm!"

The corner of Chen Nuo’s mouth twitched—this guy was quick with his words, spouting utter nonsense.

If it was hard to pick a winner, why would he have bothered upgrading Chaos Residence?

"If only you could apply the same energy you put into flattery to your work, I would be completely satisfied," Chen Nuo said, unimpressed by the Roc Demon King’s words.

This guy had always skirted his duties, nothing compared to the earnest and diligent Bull Demon King.

"Certainly! Absolutely!" the Roc Demon King nodded and bowed, laughing a ’heh heh.’

Meanwhile, the Golden Roc was completely mesmerized by the vast array of dishes on the menu, overwhelmed by choice and wanting to try everything.

Excitedly pointing at the dishes on the menu, he said, "Shop, Shopkeeper Chen, serve me one of each of these dishes!"

He was determined to feast today. In that dreadful place of Buddhism, his taste buds were almost fading away.

No sooner had he spoken than he looked up to see the Roc Demon King gazing at him as if he were looking at an idiot, which irked him.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" demanded the Golden Roc.

While shaking his head, the Roc Demon King patted his shoulder and said, "If you could order so much in one day, I would follow you."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, you can’t order that much," the Roc Demon King said with a smug smile. "Shopkeeper Chen has a rule that you can only order one dish per day, no more. It’s the rule."

This was the very rule the Roc Demon King had always hoped Chen Nuo would abolish, but now it became his chance to flaunt his sense of superiority.

"What?" The Golden Roc was dumbfounded. "There’s such a rule?"

He instinctively looked at Chen Nuo, and seeing him nod slightly, the thought of arguing that was budding inside him suddenly wilted.

Only one dish can be ordered!

The Golden Roc’s heart was somewhat conflicted; he wanted to eat everything he saw, giving up any one of them felt like a sin!

This is too hard!

Seeing the Golden Roc could not make up his mind, the Roc Demon King stepped forward, "Not sure what to eat? Need me to make a recommendation for you?"

The Golden Roc moved slightly to the side to make room and, seeing the eager expression on the Roc Demon King’s face, felt somewhat uneasy. He hurriedly spoke up, "Just a warning in advance, don’t trick me into choosing something that isn’t delicious."

Hearing the Golden Roc’s words, the Roc Demon King chuckled as if he had heard a joke, "What did you just say? Something not delicious?"

"Let me tell you this, there isn’t a single dish in Chaos Residence that is not delicious," said the Roc Demon King, thumping his chest and guaranteeing, "I stake my honor as a Roc on it."

Taking the menu from the Golden Roc’s hands, the Roc Demon King looked it over with focus, then seemed surprised, "Shopkeeper, you’ve put pictures with every single dish!"

"Shopkeeper, I had no idea your skills in brush and ink were so strong?!" The Roc Demon King couldn’t help but start to butter Chen Nuo up.

"Whatever," Chen Nuo’s mouth twitched, somewhat speechless.

If only he was that amazing; these pictures were all taken directly by the system.

The Roc Demon King chuckled and continued to look at the pictures.

Each image was lifelike, and having spent some time at Chaos Residence, he had tried many of these dishes, and they were completely identical to the pictures.

The Roc Demon King methodically scanned through them, his gaze stopping at the bottom, his eyes shone with excitement as he quickly turned to Chen Nuo, "Shopkeeper, is there a new item in the restaurant?!"

Firepot?

The Roc Demon King mumbled to himself, feeling quite excited; the dish looked absolutely amazing!

"Yeah," responded Chen Nuo casually.

New dish? They’re introducing new dishes now?

Wait a minute!

The Roc Demon King softly exclaimed, furrowed his brow, and looked contemplative, as if the name ’Firepot’ sounded somewhat familiar.

He seemed to have heard it somewhere before, like...

"Shopkeeper Chen, this must be a dish from the Heavenly Court’s Flat Peach Banquet, right?" asked the Roc Demon King, puzzled.

He had heard the name ’Firepot’ at the Demon Master Palace, as this year’s Flat Peach Banquet was quite the talk of the town.

"Yes," Chen Nuo nodded.

"Then how come..." How did it end up here!

The Roc Demon King didn’t finish his sentence out loud.

But Chen Nuo knew what the Roc Demon King meant just by hearing the start.

Shrugging his shoulders, Chen Nuo said, "Firepot indeed made it to the Flat Peach Banquet, but don’t forget, who was in charge of the banquet?"

In charge of the Flat Peach Banquet?

The Roc Demon King was momentarily startled, then as if realizing something, he said, "It’s Mr. Monkey!"

Exactly!

The Roc Demon King nodded secretly to himself. Mr. Monkey was currently the head chef of the Heavenly Court’s Imperial Kitchen; it was clear who prepared the banquet.

No wonder the Flat Peach Banquet received such praise this time; with Mr. Monkey’s profound culinary skills, it was only to be expected.

Mr. Monkey is Shopkeeper Chen’s disciple, and Firepot is a new dish developed by Shopkeeper Chen. It’s only natural for it to appear at the Flat Peach Banquet.

With this in mind, the Roc Demon King swallowed and said with a flattering smile, "Shopkeeper, can I change my order to Firepot?"

"Suit yourself, just don’t order extra," replied Chen Nuo.

Upon hearing this, the Roc Demon King revealed an impatient look, "Then Shopkeeper, quickly change my roasted lamb leg to Firepot."
