Chapter 271: Chapter 271 Haotian Meets Yang Jian

But if it came to buying eighty meals of hotpot, he wouldn’t even bat an eyelid—that was his passion for Shopkeeper Chen’s dishes!

He, Haotian, was wealthy!

Just as Haotian’s heart was brimming with grand aspirations, a foot stepped through the doorway!

Hearing the sound, both Chen Nuo and Haotian turned to look at the entrance, and following that, a playful expression appeared on Chen Nuo’s face.

He never expected that they would run into each other.

With a stride as powerful as a dragon and as agile as a tiger, Yang Jian walked into the shop. He didn’t immediately notice Chen Nuo at the counter; his eyes first met Haotian’s, who was sitting and looking at him.

Yang Jian’s handsome face suddenly darkened as he said coldly, "What are you doing here?"

Seeing Yang Jian, Haotian was also very surprised, a hint of astonishment showing on his face.

Although Shopkeeper Chen had implied that many people had visited the Chaos Residence, Haotian had never inquired further.

Unexpectedly, Yang Jian had been here before, and the girl following behind him was his niece, Yang Chan.

Haotian nodded silently to himself.

He had conferred upon her the title of Third Holy Mother, but over the years, he seldom paid attention—not due to a cold heart, but because of the barrier posed by his nephew, Yang Jian.

Their current tense relationship made it impossible for him to intervene.

His face regained its composure.

"I’m here eating at Shopkeeper Chen’s. Is that a problem?" Haotian retorted, unwilling to show weakness.

Without a word, Yang Jian headed straight for Chen Nuo, the atmosphere oppressively tense.

Yang Chan had been secretly observing from behind Yang Jian. Seeing him walk away, her heart tightened and she hastily followed, not daring to look at Haotian again.

As if he was a fearsome flood or a savage beast.

Ever since her brother had split the mountain, she hadn’t seen this so-called Uncle, the Jade Emperor.

But Haotian’s cold and heartless demeanor at that time, which she had seen from afar, had stayed with her to this day, haunting her like a nightmare.

"Shopkeeper Chen." Yang Jian bowed slightly and greeted Chen Nuo, his voice which had been cold, now full of respect.

Although he was annoyed by Haotian’s presence, that did not mean he would snub Chen Nuo, for he was his greatest benefactor!

Chen Nuo raised an eyebrow. The earlier tension was so thick he had thought it might come to blows, but it ended up being all bark and no bite.

"Just the two of you today?" Chen Nuo asked casually.

He couldn’t help but wonder where the Xiaotian Dog had run off to. Why wasn’t it here with Tian Peng and the others, or with Yang Jian and his group?

He was looking forward to it, thinking of paying with two more imitation Executioner Immortal Swords when Xiaotian arrived, so he could juggle four swords at once.

"Not exactly, there’s also..." Yang Jian shook his head and was about to speak, when suddenly, another exasperated voice rang out.

"Yang Jian! Is this how you do things? You actually left this grand master to fend for himself in the back!"

The voice preceded the presence.

Say the word and he shall appear, Chen Nuo thought to himself, recognizing the annoying voice all too well.

It could only be one creature... a dog!

As it landed with a slip, Xiaotian flopped onto the ground, eating dirt. The serious atmosphere was instantly shattered.

As he grimaced and got up, Xiaotian Dog complained, "Shopkeeper Chen, aren’t your floor tiles too slippery?"

There went his dignified and heroic image!

Chen Nuo was unfazed, arching a brow, "It’s your own fault for bouncing around, and now you blame me? Xiaotian Dog, you have some nerve."

His calm voice carried a hint of reproach. At Chen Nuo’s words, Xiaotian Dog couldn’t help but shiver.

Grimacing into a forced smile, he quickly said, "You misunderstand, Shopkeeper Chen. I am just marvelling at how clean the floor tiles are, the hygiene is impeccable. Dining in such an environment is truly a pleasure!"

Xiaotian Dog’s face was full of flattery, as compliments spewed forth without a moment’s hesitation.

Seeing Xiaotian Dog like this, Haotian’s lips twitched, his heart filled with a touch of bewilderment.

How could my nephew, with his rigid disposition, raise such a hilariously unruly dog?

After brushing the issue aside with a few words, the Xiaotian Dog breathed a sigh of relief and then turned his aggression towards Yang Jian, clamoring, "Yang Jian! You’re flying with others, why didn’t you carry the great me?"

"Do you know how much effort the great me had to put forth to chase after you? If I run out of energy for eating later, you’re compensating me, understand?"

The Xiaotian Dog loudly protested; he was only a True Immortal, how fast could he possibly go?

Yang Jian, on the other hand, only cared about his sister, leading her away without a second thought. This left him exhausted from the chase, and he was infuriated!

"Do you have no regard for our many years of friendship that’s been through life and death?!" exclaimed the Xiaotian Dog indignantly.

Yet Yang Jian showed not a hint of shame, replying calmly, "You said it yourself—I was carrying someone. What’s the problem with that?"

The more brazen Xiaotian Dog became, the more apparent it was that he needed a good talking-to, right?

That’s why Yang Jian didn’t intervene, only flying with his sister and maintaining speed, making sure not to go too far beyond the Xiaotian Dog’s limit.

Otherwise, by the time Yang Jian arrived, the Xiaotian Dog probably wouldn’t have even made it a hundred meters out.

Carrying someone while flying...

Xiaotian Dog: "..."

This is blatant discrimination!!!

The Xiaotian Dog was fuming.

"Yang Jian, don’t you get cocky, the great me doesn’t just eat grass! Wait till I grow up, I’ll definitely teach you a lesson," he declared.

The Xiaotian Dog shook his head and strutted proudly; though his power was weak now, he had been consistently dining at Shopkeeper Chen’s place!

As long as he ate enough and for long enough, he was certain he could transform and reinvent himself. Then he would be punching Tian Peng and kicking Yang Jian!

A dog’s fortune can change; don’t despise him when he’s poor!

"This dog sure is somewhat interesting," chuckled Haotian, who was seated, commenting offhandedly.

He had never seen such arrogance before. Although he knew Yang Jian had the Xiaotian Dog, he had only glimpsed it from afar.

After all, the Palace of the Polestar was strict, and the Xiaotian Dog had no business being there. Besides, his nephew hardly ever visited the Palace of the Polestar.

Who knew it had such a personality.

"Mind your own business," Yang Jian retorted without even turning his head, his voice cold and indifferent.

Upon hearing someone laughing at him, the Xiaotian Dog couldn’t stand it and quickly turned his head, continuing to chatter.

"Which blind fool is daring to slander the great me like this?"

However, when he saw who it was, the whole dog was stunned.

Holy shit, the Xiaotian Dog was taken aback, isn’t that the Jade Emperor?

The anger in the Xiaotian Dog’s heart abruptly ceased; he might be wild, but he knew his limits.

Haotian was the ruler of the Heavenly Court; his status and cultivation were unknowably higher than his own.

He would remember such a person clearly after one glance, because he knew he couldn’t afford to offend him.

Scared, scared now.

With a bit of a sycophantic smile, the Xiaotian Dog beamed, "Isn’t this His Majesty? Greetings, Your Majesty, greetings."

And with that, he propped himself up on his hind legs, his forepaws flailing about as if a puppy were kowtowing for New Year’s, quite the comical sight.

Haotian paid no mind to the Xiaotian Dog’s eager greeting, his face displaying a hint of amusement. He had wanted to change the subject, but to no avail, as Yang Jian was not buying any of it.

"What would you like to eat?" interjected Chen Nuo, urging them on; if he let them continue to confront each other, they’d likely forget to order all day long.

With that, Chen Nuo casually slid the new menu towards Yang Jian.

Hearing Chen Nuo’s words, Yang Jian stopped bickering with Haotian and earnestly opened the menu. Gazing at the array of dish photos, he was somewhat astounded.

So these dishes are all supposed to look like this, huh? Each and every one appears truly delicious!
