Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 254: Is There Something Else You Need to Do?
Chen Nuo nodded and stood up, leisurely walking toward the back kitchen.
"Master, what dish did that little phoenix order this time?" Sun Wukong, having almost finished washing the bowls, asked curiously as he saw Chen Nuo approaching.
"A bowl of Peach Blossom Porridge, a plate of braised pork, and twelve jars of Peach Blossom Brew!"
"Twelve jars!" Sun Wukong exclaimed in shock.
"More than ten jars a day, I wonder how long our stock at Chaos Residence will last?" Sun Wukong lamented.
This Xuan Feng was spending almost as much as when the Peach Blossom Brew was first launched. What a situation!
Hearing this, Chen Nuo thoughtfully nodded. Indeed, there was a problem; with this rate of consumption, the production of Chaos Residence simply couldn’t keep up for long!
And judging by Xuan Feng’s enthusiasm for her daily meals, it seemed unlikely she would stop visiting any time soon.
"We’ll have to limit the purchase of Peach Blossom Brew from now on. Starting tomorrow, each customer can only buy five small jars at a time. As for the large ones, they don’t sell much anyway, so let’s discontinue them," Chen Nuo decided after some thought.
Sun Wukong grinned and flattered, "Master is wise."
He didn’t care whether the decision was good or bad; as long as it came from his master, that was enough. Excellent!
Chen Nuo rolled his eyes: "Just you slick rascal."
Although it had been ten years, Wukong’s character had markedly improved, but this clever and quick-witted nature hadn’t changed at all.
With a helpless shake of his head, Chen Nuo started cooking.
"Wukong, bring me the prepared chunks of pork."
"Alright, Master!"
Xuan Feng found a spot to sit down; food was about to be served. Although her stomach was rumbling, her heart was not quite as content.
Taking the monkey to the Imperial Heavenly Palace was an order from the Empress. Failing to do so might result in punishment. If it were any other punishment, it might be okay, but if she were forbidden from returning to Chaos Residence, she would be devastated!
No way!
Xuan Feng set her mind, determined that today, by any means necessary, she must convince the monkey to accompany her.
Of course, this was under the condition of not angering Shopkeeper Chen.
Waiting was somewhat boring, so Xuan Feng couldn’t help but flip through the menu again, with the exquisite pictures providing her a strong visual pleasure.
Unable to help herself, she swallowed her saliva and sighed. Sooner or later, she would try every dish at Chaos Residence.
No, that wasn’t enough; she wanted to keep eating them forever!
She flipped through the pages until there were no more to turn.
"Eh!" Xuan Feng uttered softly.
There was something on the back of the last page that she had never noticed before!
"Beverages." Looking at the word, Xuan Feng nodded; it must be referring to the Peach Blossom Brew! 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
As Xuan Feng continued to look down, her eyes flashed with surprise. There was more writing!
"Flat Peach Juice... Freshly Squeezed Flat Peach Juice..."
A little while later, Sun Wukong came out with the Peach Blossom Porridge and braised pork perfectly sealed.
"Here, what you wanted!" Sun Wukong said grandly as he placed both dishes casually on the table in front of Xuan Feng.
Pointing at the larger one, Sun Wukong said, "This one is the braised pork sandwich."
"That one is Peach Blossom Porridge," he added, pointing at the smaller dish.
"Why is the Peach Blossom Porridge so small?"
"Peach Blossom Porridge is the main dish. Since you ordered it, naturally it wouldn’t come with rice," Sun Wukong explained with undisguised glee.
"What?"
Xuan Feng felt on the verge of tears. She had been too hasty. Wasn’t she at a loss now?
Her eyes darting around, Xuan Feng laughed sheepishly at Chen Nuo: "Shopkeeper Chen, can I add another serving of rice then?"
After all, one shouldn’t get the short end of the stick after paying good money!
"You can," Chen Nuo nodded indifferently.
Elated, Xuan Feng hurriedly said, "Then add it quickly for me, Shopkeeper Chen!"
"Okay, a serving of rice will cost one-tenth of the meal price."
Chen Nuo sported a faint smile, but Xuan Feng was completely taken aback, It costs money, and so much at that!!!
A serving of rice is one-tenth of the meal expense, which means ten servings could be the price of a dish or Peach Blossom Brew.
With a bitter expression, "I’d better not take it then."
Although the white rice at Shopkeeper Chen’s place was very tasty, it was still just a bowl of rice after all. She would have been fine if it were free, but she found it difficult to accept such an expensive charge.
"Sigh, for the same amount of money, if you buy a dish, it comes with rice; if you buy a staple, you should at least get some side dishes," she murmured softly, looking down.
However, the sound clearly reached Chen Nuo’s ears.
Frowning slightly, Chen Nuo nodded.
"You do have a point."
In his past life when running a restaurant, ordering staple foods would typically come with some sides, such as spicy kimchi or dried radish and other pickled vegetables.
Though not much in quantity or worth much, they did add some flavor to the meal, as well as the restaurant’s sincerity.
Gently tapping on the counter a few times, Chen Nuo spoke softly, "But right now, Chaos Residence hasn’t prepared for this. Give it a few days, and I will add it."
He had never run a shop before and lacked experience, so listening to some good suggestions would help Chaos Residence develop. If things were done well and considerately, wouldn’t everyone come to dine?
"Once it’s available, I will make it up to you for this time," Chen Nuo promised.
"Thank you, Shopkeeper Chen!" Xuan Feng smiled and nodded, secretly breathing a sigh of relief.
It was a good thing that Shopkeeper Chen did not take her words to heart; it was just a casual remark from her.
"Wukong, bring another twelve jars of Peach Blossom Brew," Chen Nuo instructed.
Sun Wukong grinned, "Got it, Master."
In three steps that looked more like two, Sun Wukong hopped and skipped over to the counter, stepping on a chair to reach for the Peach Blossom Brew on the wine cabinet.
Twelve jars of Peach Blossom Brew, levitated by mana, were neatly placed on the table in front of Xuan Feng.
"Today’s your chance to drink more!" Sun Wukong said offhandedly.
Xuan Feng was quite baffled by Sun Wukong’s comment.
"What do you mean ’only today’?" Xuan Feng asked.
"My Master says starting from tomorrow, there will be a limit on Peach Blossom Brew—each person can only buy five jars per day!" Sun Wukong said, shaking his head.
Xuan Feng’s mouth fell open in astonishment, "Why?!"
"Because the supply can’t meet the demand," Chen Nuo explained plainly.
"Chaos Residence doesn’t produce enough Peach Blossom Brew."
It wasn’t that he couldn’t meet Xuan Feng’s needs, but he was thinking more long-term.
It was manageable with one Xuan Feng, but if more customers came in the future without limits, certainly there wouldn’t be enough to go around.
Maybe even stricter limitations would be necessary then, like only one or two jars per person.
Ah?
Xuan Feng’s face immediately fell, only five jars a day?
Her Majesty expected her to bring ten jars each day; oh please, no, how was she going to report this!
A cry of despair echoed within Xuan Feng’s head, utterly unwilling but helpless nonetheless.
Shopkeeper Chen had spoken, and she had to comply; it would be difficult to enjoy the wine in the future!
If there was no limit, not only could Her Majesty buy enough, but she too could make a purchase. But now, not even Her Majesty’s needs were met, alas!
Xuan Feng fretted, left only to take things step by step. After all, it was the rule of Chaos Residence, hoping Her Majesty would understand!
After collecting the dishes and Peach Blossom Brew with a wave of her hand, she bowed to Chen Nuo, "Shopkeeper Chen, then, I will take my leave!"
Having said that, Xuan Feng was ready to leave.
No sooner had she stepped out of Chaos Residence than Chen Nuo’s voice leisurely rang out from behind.
"Haven’t you forgotten something you still need to do?"
Something to do?
Xuan Feng paused, then quickly realized.
Right, how did she forget the last task Her Majesty assigned her?
