Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 243: Can You Open Your Fan?
Xuan Feng’s heart skipped a beat, and she halted in her tracks, hastily looking up only to see a monkey dressed in human clothes, chewing on weeds, perched atop the high white walls with black eaves of Chaos Residence.
"Can you spread your tail feathers?" Sun Wukong grinned and asked again.
His originally black eyes had turned gold, shining even more brilliantly under the sunlight.
Xuan Feng was stunned for a moment.
Spread your tail feathers, what does that mean, is he talking to her?
Looking at Sun Wukong’s glittering eyes, Xuan Feng felt an inexplicable sensation of being seen through, which made her quite uncomfortable.
With a growing displeasure in her heart, she frowned and said coldly, "What do you mean by spread or not spread your tail feathers?"
"You know, like a peacock spreading its tail feathers? I’ve heard they are an especially beautiful bird, aren’t you a peacock?"
"I know, you are that big bird from earlier, you can’t fool me!" Sun Wukong chirped cheerfully, even pointing at his own eyes with his finger.
Xuan Feng’s face was one of astonishment; this monkey, who appeared to only possess the strength of the Taiyi Realm, could actually see through her true form across the gulf of their powers!
Yet, Xuan Feng’s eyes darkened, her forehead’s veins bulging, goddamn peacock!
"I am a phoenix!" Xuan Feng gritted her teeth indignantly.
The identity of the phoenix was her line in the sand and her pride; how could she tolerate such an affront?!
She was well aware of what a peacock was; they were the progeny of the Phoenix Clan leader Yuan Feng: one was Great Roc, and the other was a peacock.
This was the first peacock in the world, named Kong Xuan.
In terms of strength, not only was Kong Xuan at the level of Quasi-Saint, but his Innate Divine Power Five-colored Divine Light was capable of scrubbing everything clean, having once caused even Saint Zhunti to stumble.
In comparison, her own Great Luo realm cultivation really wasn’t much to look at, but when it came to the beauty of their true form and feathers, Xuan Feng refused to yield!
The phoenix was undeniably the most beautiful bird in the Three Realms; otherwise, the Human Race wouldn’t refer to their highest ranking women as ’phoenixes’.
However, she did find it annoying that humans called their revered men ’dragons’; how could the short-lived Human Race understand the secretive history between the Dragon Clan and the Phoenix Clan?
The conflict between dragons and phoenixes couldn’t be resolved merely by a truce and retirement, although it also indirectly reflected the status of her Phoenix Clan among birds!
"So, you’re not a peacock." Sun Wukong realized, retracting his Delusion-breaking Golden Eyes, his disappointment overflowing.
"Hey! What exactly do you mean, you monkey?!" Xuan Feng clenched her fists, seething with rage throughout her being, "Our phoenixes are much more beautiful than peacocks!"
Xuan Feng spoke again, she couldn’t let her Phoenix Clan be shamed!
Sun Wukong cleaned out his ear and leaped gracefully to the ground, turning flamboyantly before making his way inside the house.
"I wanted to see tail feather spreading, but you can’t do it!"
This infuriating monkey, Xuan Feng bit her lip secretly and followed him inside.
"What are you doing here?" Sun Wukong found a spot to sit and seeing Xuan Feng enter as well, he started asking.
Xuan Feng rolled her eyes, annoyed, "What else? I’ve come to Chaos Residence to order food, of course."
"I’m surprised you arrived so early!" Sun Wukong’s eyes showed his surprise as he had only just gotten up not too long ago and had barely finished tidying up the place.
"Aren’t you doing the same? And you’re calling me early?" Xuan Feng rolled her eyes again, glancing around and noticing the empty hall, she couldn’t help but say, "Where’s Shopkeeper Chen?"
Why isn’t anyone here? She was in a hurry to get back for her meal; the empress was waiting!
"Wait a bit, my master is resting!"
"Who told you to come so early?"
Sun Wukong shrugged nonchalantly.
"You, a master?!" Xuan Feng’s mind went blank for a moment, and then it clicked, her face filling with disbelief, "Shopkeeper Chen is your master?!"
"Yep." Sun Wukong grinned broadly.
"But, isn’t Shopkeeper Chen’s disciple that dragon?"
"What, can my master only have one disciple?" Sun Wukong stood with his hands on his hips, "That’s my junior sister. She had to go back home because of some matters yesterday!"
Xuan Feng: "..."
Why did it seem to Xuan Feng that such a dashing and elegant godlike man as Shopkeeper Chen took on disciples who were so annoying, as if they were destined to irritate her?
"Here!" Wukong hopped to the counter and flung the menu into Xuan Feng’s hands.
"Order your dishes first! Wait for master to get up and cook."
Xuan Feng caught the menu and didn’t flip through it immediately but looked at Sun Wukong and said, "Since you are Shopkeeper Chen’s disciple, how many years have you learned cooking? And to what degree?"
"I’ve studied for ten years, not even one-tenth good enough," Sun Wukong said leisurely.
Xuan Feng’s eyebrows raised, "Then you haven’t really learned much skill at all!"
In her eyes, no matter how excellent the culinary skills were, they were merely mundane crafts. Even if Shopkeeper Chen’s cultivation was incredibly profound, his cooking skills were likely just for amusement.
This monkey hadn’t even mastered cooking, so she thought he couldn’t amount to much!
Sun Wukong smiled and didn’t bother to retort. In his view, compared to his master, his abilities were indeed far inferior.
Although his cooking skills were now presentable, they still depended on who the comparison was with. In front of his master, even his best dish couldn’t match a fraction of his master’s.
As it was just the truth, he had no reason to be angry. He harbored no thoughts of surpassing his master.
All his efforts were merely to bring himself as close as possible to his master’s realm.
Seeing that Sun Wukong didn’t respond or show any annoyance, Xuan Feng felt like she was punching cotton – powerless and frustrated.
She lowered her head to glance through the menu in her hands and after a while, she finally chose the dishes she wanted.
"I’ll have a serving of Sauce-coated Duck, Crispy Fried Chicken, and fifteen jars of Peach Blossom Brew."
Xuan Feng banged the table, flaunting her wealth!
Upon hearing this, Sun Wukong couldn’t help but click his tongue, "You really are rich! Ordering so much."
However... 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Sun Wukong turned his head to look at Xuan Feng, his eyes taking on a scrutinizing tone, "You know my master’s name and are so familiar with this place, you certainly aren’t here for the first time, are you?"
"Don’t you know the rules of Chaos Residence? You can only have one dish per day?!"
Xuan Feng’s eyebrow rose, and she replied with defiance, "Of course I know. However, I’ll only eat one of the dishes. The Crispy Fried Chicken and the alcohol are for my lady mother."
So that was it. Sun Wukong nodded, understanding the concept of takeout.
He clearly remembered that ten years ago, there was a woman who ordered takeout, and master had agreed to it.
He grinned, "And who might your lady mother be?"
"You’d be better off not asking casually – I might scare you to death!" Xuan Feng rolled her eyes and didn’t tell the monkey anything further.
She really worried revealing her lady mother’s identity might frighten this little monkey badly.
"Psh." Sun Wukong pursed his lips, muttering, "All talk and no substance, just a messenger after all."
Xuan Feng: "..."
Really asking for a punch!
Her fists clenched instantly, and it took her a long time to reluctantly let go.
Xuan Feng took several deep breaths; this was Shopkeeper Chen’s disciple, so she had to remain polite!
She thought to herself.
"Just hand over the money, and master will be informed," Sun Wukong said as he dragged the crystal ball to stand before Xuan Feng.
Xuan Feng had no objections and accepted it immediately, not because she trusted Sun Wukong, but because she trusted Shopkeeper Chen.
Sun Wukong stepped back two paces, eyeing Xuan Feng with interest, wondering what the charge standard was for her to readily bring out so much money for the meal.
