Chapter 749: Chapter 749: Still Kind

"Master, do you suspect that Chu Xunyang has some kind of connection with Vivian?"

Ever since Julia reminded Su Wan, advising her to keep an eye on Moran, Su Wan had issued an order prohibiting Moran from landing on Landis Star.

And she had initiated surveillance to see if Moran would come near Julia and Vivian, the mother and daughter, again.

Moran did not appear.

But at this critical juncture, Chu Xunyang showed up. What did that mean?

Su Wan lowered her eyes.

"Chu Xunyang has always been a very shrewd businessman. He cannot be judged as simply good or bad; we can only judge him based on whether there is profit to be gained from this affair. Additionally, betraying us, or even Landis Star, is not something he would do. However, his presence here is definitely not a coincidence."

"Should we go find Vivian and ask her about it?"

Su Wan shook her head, "No, that young girl is very clever. If there really is something amiss, and she wants to extricate herself from the situation, she will come to me of her own accord."

Vivian had always been gentle, intelligent, timid, and kind before.

Now, after the fusion of souls, Vivian became composed, intelligent, calm, and most importantly, still kind-hearted. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Su Wan believed that this young girl would surely make the right choice.

Before that happened, she did not plan to use force; she was also giving Vivian and Julia the opportunity.

Meanwhile, at Julia’s apartment, she had returned home from work to find a lavish dinner set on the table.

However, these dinners all came in takeaway boxes.

Xu Wei’an stuck out her tongue and said, "I tried cooking these dishes. They might not look that appealing, but they taste quite good. The head chef let me take them home, so you two should try them and give me some feedback."

Xu Wei’an could cook a little, and seeing that Su Yao, who was two to three years younger than herself, could cook, she thought that perhaps she could earn more money by working as a chef?

So she gave it a try.

However, she was not entirely satisfied with the appearance of the dishes, which were not quite presentable. But considering it was her first day, it was already quite remarkable.

Julia tasted a mouthful and immediately praised Xu Wei’an’s culinary skills.

Feeling embarrassed as she looked at the plate of scrambled eggs with tomatoes, Xu Wei’an said, "This dish is quite simple. Everyone from my area knows how to make it. It’s just that the tomato and eggs I made aren’t very appealing in shape. The head chef said I should pay attention to it next time."

"You’re already super impressive. Not many people on Landis Star can cook."

"Mainly because you are currently short on fruits and vegetables. Otherwise, everyone here is so smart, you would all learn how to cook after a few tries."

The two conversed back and forth for a while, and suddenly they noticed that Vivian was rather quiet today.

Julia looked at her daughter with concern, "Vivian, what’s wrong?"

"Oh, Mum, I’m fine. Carry on with your chat. I spent some time at the university’s Mecha Training Room today, learning how to operate a Mecha. I might be a bit tired."

Although Empire University was on summer break, it was actually still open to the public.

Vivian planned to take makeup exams after school started and, once they concluded, she would apply to transfer to the Military Academy.

She wanted to become strong so she could protect her mother and Xu Wei’an in the future.

Better yet, she might even be able to help Gu Yan someday.

All of this was predicated on her own need to become strong, meaning she could no longer continue with the History Department; she had to study at the Military Academy.

Julia naturally knew her daughter’s plans and said with concern, "More haste, less speed. I know you want to become stronger, but take it slowly and don’t be too hard on yourself. We have overcome so many difficulties before, and if anything comes up in the future, don’t bear it alone. We will work hard together, okay?"

"And me, and me, I will work hard too!"

Looking at her mother and Xu Wei’an, Vivian nodded.

However, by evening, when Xu Wei’an had fallen asleep next door, Julia went to stand beside her daughter, who was quietly looking out of the window.

"Vivian, if something is on your mind, tell mommy. Even if I can’t help you with it, I will try my best to find a solution for you," she said.

Vivian turned to look at her mother.

Her mother had always been like this.

Though a Beastman and rather weak, she becomes incredibly strong when she needs to protect those dear to her.

Like that time when she and Xu Wei’an were deep in sleep, and Gu Yan was attacked, it was her mother who stood up to protect them.

But she was knocked down time and time again.

Despite so many broken bones and the robust physique of a Beastman and advanced medical technology, the pain of injury was all too real.

All of Julia’s sacrifices were for her daughter.

After thinking for a while, Vivian shared the day’s incident with Chu Xunyang.

"Mommy, do you hope daddy can come out?" she asked.

"How can I not hope for it? But Vivian, if he comes out, he could die any day. Yet, if he’s locked up in the Interstellar Prison, I know that he’s still there." Julia let out a sigh, looking out at the starry sky with conviction as she spoke, "Landis Star is the most habitable planet in the universe, and what the Gu Family is trying to do now is to make the entire universe just as safe a place."

"They are making the Universe Alliance sign a peace treaty, which forbids violation for a hundred years. Just think, if the universe could be at peace for a hundred years, how wonderful would that be?"

Truthfully, those who are warmongering and want to stand at the pinnacle are not many.

Most people are just ordinary folks.

And ordinary people yearn for happiness, peace, and a simple life.

Julia turned to look at her daughter, "Vivian, this is the life the Gu Family can give us, but your father cannot bring such a life to ordinary people like us."

"Putting aside the slim chance of his success, even if he were to succeed, how many years would the universe remain peaceful? I saw too much war when I was a child, and back then, there were only Beastmen and purebred humans. Now look, we have Insectoids and Plantmen, and the differences are only increasing."

"I think, after telling you all this, you know how you should choose." Julia said.

Vivian nodded.

Julia tenderly touched her daughter’s long hair, "It’s getting late, rest early. Don’t rush with the training in the Mecha Room."

"You should rest early too," Vivian said.

Watching her mother walk away, Vivian’s eyes slowly grew determined.

Early the next day, Su Wan sat in her office, listening to Luo Jina beside her prattle on about the children’s marriages.

"Xiaowan, time flies so fast, huh, our kids are all grown up and getting married. But it’s good they are married and out, my husband and I can enjoy our world of two," Luo Jina said.

Laughing, Su Wan responded, "They think you and dad are the ones hindering their sweet life as a couple."

"They wouldn’t dare! Oh, right, Xiaowan, don’t any of your three kids have plans to get married?" Luo Jina inquired.
