Jilted by Day, Cuddled At Night-Chapter 656: Does Bai Li Want to Find a Companion?
Su Yao did not answer the communication from her mother; instead, she privately asked her father, Xi Le, first.
And indeed, from her father, she received the news that her mother wanted her to return home.
The mere thought of going back home and living a life arranged by her mother made Su Yao very resistant.
It just so happened that Aunt Su Wan was inspecting the restaurant, so Su Yao immediately went to her.
"Aunt Su Wan, I don’t want to go back with my mom. Can you help me think of a solution?"
Su Wan was startled.
To be honest, after spending some time together, Su Wan realized that this child, Su Yao, was nothing at all like her mother, Su Man.
Although Su Wan still despised Su Man, she saw no need to take it out on the child.
However, no matter what, given Su Man’s presence, Su Wan couldn’t possibly be especially good to Su Yao.
So, when Su Yao came to her for help, Su Wan paused for a few seconds.
Su Wan, "Why did you think of asking me for help?"
Su Yao, "Because I feel that you are the most outstanding person on Landis Star! Otherwise, my mom wouldn’t have envied and resented you for so many years." 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Su Wan, "..."
With a wry smile, she spoke, "If your mother really wants you to go back, I can’t do anything about it, have you talked to your father?"
Su Yao, "I have, and my father said now that they are going to war, it’s actually better for me to be on Landis Star. I like staying here myself, and it isn’t dangerous."
Being an Insectoid, Xi Le had a laissez-faire approach towards his own children.
His son was sent directly into the military; unless he died in battle, Xi Le wouldn’t pay him any attention.
It was only his younger daughter that received a bit more of his focus, but he still wouldn’t coddle her into a hothouse flower, even though she was just an unarmed ordinary person.
Of course, Xi Le had a lot of trust in Su Wan and Gu Jue’s character.
No matter what, Su Wan would not just stand by if Yaoyao was in trouble.
And then... with that hands-off approach, he left his daughter in the care of Su Family’s restaurant.
Su Wan sighed and said, "Then tell me in detail, what were your mother’s intentions for sending you to Landis Star?"
Since the truth about the Insect God’s intentions in the exchange had already been revealed, all that was left hidden by Su Yao from Su Wan was very little.
"My mom also told me to find a way to get close to your two sons. Of course, she said that His Majesty Gu Chen would definitely not be interested in me, but I could still try to please him and act cute. Also, to try my best to charm Gu Yu, my brother."
"..."
Quickly, Su Yao added, "Don’t be angry, Aunt Su Wan. I didn’t do anything my mother told me to. I’ve been at the Su Family’s restaurant this whole time since I arrived, and I haven’t gone to see them. Of course, I couldn’t even if I tried."
Su Wan did believe this from Su Yao and after some thought said, "Later, when you reply to your mother, tell her I’ve recently found you to be well-behaved and have taken you to stay by my side. Also, say that I want to take you back to the Su Family’s ancestral home."
"Great! I’ll go and deceive my mom right now!"
Su Wan watched the young girl cheerfully turn around and head off to deceive Su Man.
Well, this young girl was not bad; she had potential.
However, Su Wan wasn’t completely deceiving Su Yao. Getting close to her sons was out of the question, but as the young girl was alone on Landis Star, Su Wan would still help her a little if she could.
There was also the matter of Grandpa, who was actually a bit lonely and restless. The old man couldn’t stay idle and was always talking about wanting to take over cooking at the restaurant.
In the future, it would be a good thing for this lively young girl to visit the Su Family’s ancestral home more often.
As for whether Su Man would do something crafty?
All these years had passed, and even someone like Su Ni had seen through Su Man’s true nature. There was no need for others to worry.
Su Man hesitated when she heard her daughter say this.
Putting other things aside, Su Wan’s current status on Landis Star was indeed too high. If her daughter could really infiltrate the Su Family’s inner circle... this would be a golden opportunity!
Who knows, she might use this fact to her advantage in the future when she needed to do something!
As for the Insect God... she would probe Xi Le’s intentions later, and that Freya was also an Insect Queen, yet Bai Li did not deign to spare her a glance.
Perhaps, Bai Li had no intention of seeking a mate in the short term?
Or maybe, Yaoyo could have a chance to get close to Gu Chen on Landis Star?
Su Man quickly weighed the pros and cons and told her daughter to be very careful on her own on Landis Star, and that mom always worried about her.
Su Yao: "..."
She’s worried about her not being able to find a husband of high status, isn’t she?
Meanwhile, after Su Wan took care of Su Yao’s matter, upon returning home she saw her daughter with a distressed expression on her face.
"Xiaoyan, what’s wrong?"
"Mom? Oh, it’s nothing."
Su Wan was unsure whether her daughter’s low spirits were because Bai Li had returned to the Insectoid Base or because Vivian had been distancing herself from her recently.
However, Gu Yan slightly curved her lips and said, "Mom, I’m alright. It’s just that I’ve been overwhelmed with things recently and need to take some distance. By the way, it’s been a long time since I last visited Great Grandpa and Great Grandma. When do you have time? Let’s go visit together?"
Su Wan’s heart softened, Xiaoyan was still strong.
It’s true that some things, like the friendship with Vivian, are experiences one has to go through.
As for Bai Li... she hoped that the "insect" wasn’t too familiar with Xiaoyan yet. The more time they spent apart, the weaker their feelings would become.
Su Wan: "This weekend is perfect. We’ll go back to the old house to visit, and we’ll take Su Yao with us. Do you remember her?"
Gu Yan: "I remember. She’s the daughter of Su Man, right? I’ve seen her before at the Su Family restaurant. Although I don’t know how they usually get along as mother and daughter, for Su Man to drop her teenage daughter on a strange planet without a word... she is really..."
Gu Yan left the adjective unsaid.
Su Wan smiled, "I know. Fortunately, Su Yao is not like her mother."
"Fortunately, indeed."
And so, the matter was settled.
Vivian had changed dorms and no longer shared one with Gu Yan. Now in school, they only nodded in acknowledgement when they bumped into each other in classrooms.
A politely distanced relationship.
Gu Chen was too busy with his responsibilities to show whether Vivian’s departure had any effect on him.
But as for Gu Yan... thus Su Wan, despite being busy, would take time to take her daughter out for a break to distract her.
Upon their arrival at the Su Family restaurant to pick up Su Yao, the young girl’s eyes brightened with happiness upon seeing Gu Yan.
"Sister Gu Yan!"
"Hello Su Yao."
"Just call me Yaoyao."
Su Yao was amiable and lively by nature, and Gu Yan found her easy to get along with. The two girls were not far apart in age and quickly found themselves engrossed in conversation.
Watching them, Su Wan felt somewhat sentimental.
When Su Wan first met Su Man, she too had thought that this young girl might become her sister, but she had never imagined all the things that would later unfold.
