Jilted by Day, Cuddled At Night-Chapter 37: Stuffed with Dog Food
Su Wan looked at Su Man with pity and did not engage with her, but rose to her feet and walked over to Gu Jue.
Turning her head, Su Man caught sight of the two people standing at the door, and she froze on the spot!
Su Wan, with eyes curved into a smile and sweet lips, asked Gu Jue, "Commander, what’s the matter? You even brought flowers. Are these for me?"
Looking at his delicate and beautiful little wife, with eyes shining bright, Gu Jue continued to keep a cool expression on his face. "Hmm."
Su Wan took the roses, smelling the faint fragrance they emitted.
In the Interstellar Era, fresh flowers were exceedingly luxurious, and the price of roses even more so.
But to Gu Jue, as the First Commander and a member of the Royal Family, he could obtain the roses of an entire planet if he wished.
However, the sight of the cold-blooded and ruthless Commander holding a brilliant bouquet of red roses presented a striking contrast.
At that moment, holding the roses, Su Wan noticed that Huo Yichang too had a bunch in his hands, and they were pink.
With a slight twitch of her eyebrow, she asked, "Huo Yichang, why are you here as well? These flowers..."
Huo Yichang’s heart was filled with bitterness, his grip on the bouquet tightening once again.
He had received a call from his father, informing him that the Su Family intended to appoint Su Wan as the manager of the First Star District branch of the Su Family Restaurant, hence they had advised him to mend his relationship with Su Wan.
Originally, it was their indulgence that led to not making too much of Su Wan.
And now, they were instructing Huo Yichang to make sure he charmed her effectively.
The Su Family had established a new supply chain and no longer needed the Huo Family as much. In the entire Federation Empire, no other restaurant was of sufficient scale to require such a vast supply of fruits and vegetables.
If the stockpiled produce could not be sold, it would rot and spoil.
Such a loss was something the Huo Family could not afford.
The Huo Family was somewhat regretful of their prior impulsiveness and didn’t want to sever ties with the Su Family, which was why they had sent Huo Yichang as their advance party.
As for Huo Yichang himself, he naturally couldn’t bear to let go of Su Wan.
He stubbornly believed that there must be some hidden reason behind Su Wan’s marriage to the First Commander, and so he persistently sought to win back her heart.
But now, the aloof First Commander stood nearby, emitting an aura of lethal intent even when silent.
Hence, Huo Yichang let out a dry laugh, "I just came to check on how Xiaoman’s leg was healing."
Su Wan responded with an ’Oh’, showing little interest as she turned around and slipped her hand through Gu Jue’s arm.
"Commander, my grandfather would like to meet you, if that’s okay?"
As his little wife affectionately clung to his arm, Gu Jue felt a bit unaccustomed, yet not averse, and he nodded, "Okay."
"That’s great. Wait for me to tidy these documents; my grandfather is in the tea room just behind."
"Hmm."
Meanwhile, Su Man finally snapped out of her shock.
She was startled by the sudden appearance of the two men and wondered how much of her earlier conversation they had heard.
Then she was given a face full of show-off by Su Wan, force-fed with a mouthful of ’dog food’.
It left her both angry and annoyed.
However, upon hearing what Huo Yichang said, a look of surprise spread across Su Man’s face.
She immediately walked over to Huo Yichang, her expression tender and soft, "Brother Huo is the only one who cares about me. My leg is much better now, don’t worry. Oh, these flowers are so beautiful. Are they for me?"
Huo Yichang, preoccupied with his own thoughts, negligently thrust the bouquet of roses into Su Man’s hands.
He watched as Su Wan finished arranging her things and left with Gu Jue, the bitterness in his eyes becoming insuppressible.
Huo Yichang pulled his hand away from Su Man’s embrace, "Xiaoman, about your spacecraft, what exactly caused the malfunction that day?"
"Brother Huo, I..."
Huo Yichang looked at Su Man with a hint of disappointment, "I’ve always treated you like a sister, that’s why I’ve been so good to you. But to think, even knowing I love Xiaowan, you would do such a thing!"
Su Man’s heart sank.
Huo Yichang had indeed heard her earlier words.

On this side, Su Wan and Gu Jue stepped onto the carpet embroidered with auspicious cloud patterns, and she naturally retracted her hand.
Gu Jue looked down at her.
Su Wan didn’t quite understand the thoughts of this Commander, so she could only ask, "Did you come to see me for something?"
"There’s no need for formalities, we’re husband and wife."
"Okay, fine. So, besides bringing flowers, is there something else you came for?"
Gu Jue stopped in his tracks, looking at his little wife who had put away her charming demeanor and was seriously looking at him.
Although polite, her distant manner slightly irked the Commander.
He said, "I’ve come to take you home."
Su Wan frowned, "What about the thing I mentioned earlier..."
"We’ll talk about it at home."
Just as Su Wan was about to say something else, she heard that Commander Gu had arrived; Su Zhen and Su Teng, who had been busy in the kitchen, hurried out along with the Su family patriarch.
Seeing her grandfather’s excited demeanor, Su Wan sighed and swallowed the words she had intended to say.
If it had to be discussed at home, then so be it, especially since her manic-depressive period for the month had already passed. As long as it wasn’t the milky Ajue, Su Wan was confident she could remain calm and composed.
"Commander Gu, what brings you here?"
The Su family patriarch was filled with respect, and Su Zhen and Su Teng looked at Gu Jue with reverence as well.
Gu Jue nodded curtly, "I’ve come to take Xiaowan home."
His voice was very cold and abit low, but that "Xiaowan" made Su Wan’s heart tingle.
And those words ’home’, seemed to carry an ambiguous effect!
This differed from the affection during the Manic-Depressive Periods when Ajue called her ’sister’.
Seeing Commander Gu cared so much for Xiaowan, the Su family patriarch’s smile grew deeper.
He said, "It just so happens to be dinner time. Why don’t you and Xiaowan stay for dinner before heading back?"
Other than dining at the Imperial Palace, Gu Jue rarely stayed for meals elsewhere.
Su Wan worried he would refuse.
Of course, if he refused, Su Wan had prepared another set of arguments.
As the Empire’s number one Commander, he naturally wouldn’t dine out casually.
"Alright," Gu Jue replied.
Though it was just a single word, it pleased the members of the Su family.
The Su patriarch asked Su Wan to stay and keep Gu Jue company while he went to the kitchen with his son and nephew to cook personally.
Once in the tearoom, Su Wan poured Gu Jue a cup of Tieguanyin tea. "Will this be uncomfortable for you?"
"It’s fine, and besides, they are your elders."
Although Gu Jue’s status meant he wouldn’t start calling them ’grandpa’ or ’dad’ following Su Wan, he was still willing to show them respect.
This was also a form of respect for Su Wan.
Su Wan glanced at him cautiously, suddenly feeling that this person wasn’t as cold as he seemed on the surface.
The Su family treated Gu Jue warmly and invited him to stay for dinner; the patriarch himself took to the kitchen, assisted by his son and nephew, to prepare a large table of dishes.
Throughout the meal, Gu Jue showed great respect for the Su family, even when the patriarch brought out his long-cherished white liquor, Gu Jue didn’t decline.
Su Wan didn’t know if the Commander could hold his liquor; the Su family members were all strong drinkers, and this liquor was particularly potent.
She hoped not to get the big shot drunk!
"Commander Gu, how about I drink for you?"
