Jilted by Day, Cuddled At Night-Chapter 28: Tsundere and Sensitivity
Su Wan first sent a location message to the robots, instructing them to deliver her luggage.
By the time she had put her luggage away, her two roommates still hadn’t opened their doors.
It seemed that these two roommates of hers were not very easy to get along with!
But that wasn’t important right now; what was important was that Su Wan decided to continue praying that Gu Jue wouldn’t show up at the freshman orientation ceremony later.
If it weren’t for the fact that the orientation ceremony counted for academic credit, Su Wan would have considered skipping it altogether!
In the next few hours, Su Wan quickly familiarized herself with everything about the university and even had a meal in the cafeteria.
She had to admit, the food in the cafeteria was far inferior to what she had at home.
But she could understand why; due to limited conditions, people didn’t care much about satisfying their taste buds anymore.
Other schools didn’t even have cafeterias; they uniformly distributed nutrition liquids to students instead.
It was only Empire University, as the highest standard school in the entire Federal Empire, that had such a rare amenity as a cafeteria.
However, Su Wan was picky about her food; she remembered there was a large empty space in the dormitory’s living room. She would later seek her roommates’ opinions on turning that vacant spot into a makeshift kitchen.
Of course, living on campus wasn’t convenient, so she would need to buy a house after some time for the convenience of doing live broadcasts.
Soon it was almost two o’clock in the afternoon, which was the time for the orientation ceremony.
As Su Wan was about to leave for the auditorium, the door on the left opened first, and a girl with red curly hair came out.
The girl had deep-set eyes and eyebrows and very fair skin. When she saw Su Wan, she was slightly taken aback.
Su Wan smiled generously, "Hello, I’m Su Wan from the Department of Medicine."
"Which district are you from?"
"First Star District."
When the redhead girl heard First Star District, her arrogance remained unchanged. She didn’t introduce herself and just flipped her long hair and walked away without waiting for Su Wan.
Su Wan wasn’t annoyed; Empire University was the highest-ranked institution in the entire Interstellar Federation, so it was bound to be full of distinguished people.
There were nobles with deep backgrounds, talented geniuses, and even those who were both noble and talented geniuses.
Her roommate, she surmised, must have a high status.
Just as Su Wan was about to leave, the other door opened at that moment, and a girl with short chestnut hair, who looked neat and fresh, came out.
The girl looked at Su Wan, "To attend the opening ceremony, you are required to wear the uniform."
The uniforms had already been distributed to all the students, and there was an integrated washing machine; just toss the uniform in, and it would be washed, dried, pressed, and ready in three minutes.
"Thank you. There’s still time; do you want to go to the auditorium together?"
"Sure."
As Su Wan was drying her uniform, she started chatting with her new roommate, learning that her name was Sheng An, she majored in the same field, and came from the Tenth District.
When she mentioned the Tenth District, Su Wan remained very calm, making Sheng An herself a bit surprised.
Since arriving here, many people she encountered showed expressions of surprise, disdain, or sympathy upon hearing she was from the Tenth District.
Yet her new roommate didn’t even raise an eyebrow?
Sheng An furrowed her brows slightly, just about to speak, when the dorm room door beeped again; the red-haired girl who had just left rushed back in.
Seeing Su Wan and Sheng An both dressed in their uniforms, she immediately complained, "Why didn’t either of you remind me to wear the uniform?"
Su Wan: "We only just found out ourselves, you better hurry and put your clothes in the washing machine, or you won’t make it."
The red-haired girl glared at her but still went to do as told.
Even the young lady is afraid of losing academic points.
Su Wan looked at her retreating figure and called out, "Do you need us to wait for you at the assembly hall?"
The young lady coolly replied, "No need to wait for me!"
Fine, if she says there’s no need, Su Wan wouldn’t waste words. She turned to Sheng An and said, "Sheng An, then let’s go ahead."
Sheng An nodded in agreement.
As the two of them headed to the assembly hall, Sheng An suddenly spoke up, "Her name is Luo Jina, she’s in the same major as us. A native of the First Star District, her father is General Luo, and her elder sister is the current Empress, Her Highness."
Such a status indeed gave Luo Jina the capital to be haughty and proud.
If Su Wan hadn’t been married before, hearing about her roommate’s distinguished identity would have surprised her greatly.
But now, merely thinking about the big shot whose name hung in the spouse column of her ID, even if it were His Highness Gu Zilan himself standing before her, she could remain as calm as still water.
Su Wan’s composure impressed Sheng An, who couldn’t help her curiosity and asked, "Su Wan, aren’t you surprised at all?"
"Surprised about what? Jina’s identity? It’s okay, that’s her parents and family who are capable. Now that we’re here, we are all equal, all freshman at Empire University, and what matters is personal strength."
"What about me..."
"You mean the fact that you come from the Tenth District? Then I’m not surprised; I’m impressed instead. We all know the educational disparity among the ten districts, as well as the various qualifications required to apply to Empire University. To put it simply, it’s easiest for those from the First District to get in, and hardest for those from the Tenth District, so, Sheng An, you are truly amazing!"
Looking at the stars seemingly twinkling in Su Wan’s eyes made the young girl from the impoverished district freeze in astonishment.
Su Wan knew her new friend was sensitive, and since her words came from the heart, given time, the other would understand what kind of person she was.
The two chatted and soon arrived at the school assembly hall. They learned that seating was by student number, so it didn’t take long for Miss Luo Jina, who had looked at them with disdain, to end up sitting next to them.
Many people came over to greet Luo Jina, and like a proud peacock, the young lady raised her chin and only occasionally bothered to respond to a few people.
Su Wan felt amused but didn’t harbor any special thoughts because of it. Turning her head, she noticed Sheng An next to her, lips pursed and hands placed on her knees, slightly bent.
It was a sign of nervousness, of being unaccustomed. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Su Wan: "Xiao’an, about that empty space in our dorm’s living room, I’m thinking of setting up a kitchen. Do you have any objections?"
"A kitchen? I don’t have any objections." Sheng An was indeed distracted by Su Wan’s question, asking with curiosity, "Are you planning to cook?"
"Yeah, I went to the cafeteria for lunch today, and it tasted so bad, I’ve decided to cook myself."
Sheng An was full of admiration, "You actually know how to cook? That’s really impressive!"
Sheng An wasn’t exaggerating. After all, in this era, people who knew how to cook were extremely rare. Kids from districts like theirs might go their entire lives only consuming nutrient solutions.
They might never even have tasted what fried rice was like.
Luo Jina, who had not received any flattery from her roommates until then, turned her head and scoffed, "Really? Are your cooking skills good?"
Su Wan smiled, "They should be pretty decent."
Luo Jina: "Alright then, if your cooking is good, you can use the living room space. But if you cook badly, I will definitely have the kitchen torn down immediately!"
The young lady was clearly giving her approval but still had to speak so haughtily.
Just as Su Wan was about to respond with a smile that she could try her cooking someday, her eyes suddenly caught sight of a crowd surrounding someone, coming their way.
She froze on the spot!
