Chapter 61: Day Three

A new day filled with different things to do... this was my last day of ’freedom’ before I was going to have to follow the schedule from last night, and that meant that there were a few things that I should probably do before I had to go to class.

It was time for me to properly lock my lust away for as long as I could and focus on just making the improvements I was going to need for tomorrow; more magic, more studying, and a little bit more training.

No sex, no masturbation, just pure effort being put into improving myself!

That was what I was going to do, I swear..!

Though... how strong my resolve was in actuality was by far up for debate, and I wasn’t at all confident in being able to turn Kha’Miero away if she wanted me to be with her, either for a single round in private or for another hour long marathon where she emptied herself into me.

But I was definitely going to make some more improvements, and there was another item I could go look for if I felt so inclined... though considering it would be in one of the classes I was going to take I was content to just wait.

Perhaps I was being a bit cowardly too since there were no saves for me to scum in this life or any pauses I could take to just think over the things I would need to do in great detail before I did them; everything would happen in seconds and leave me no time to plot, so I needed to be careful.

Whether I was being too careful or not was another story, but for the time being I believed my caution to be necessary since I was a very weak person who could likely be fooled very easily since I was... not the smartest socially.

Especially not when the characters I actually really liked or really disliked started to get involved; I liked Kha’Miero quite a lot, but she wasn’t top five most liked, so if I was folding that easily to her minimal amounts of pressure, well...

Anyways, shaking that out of my mind and getting prepared for the day to come only took me a few minutes, during which I successfully avoided Hecate since I wasn’t really sure how I would feel seeing her after last night.

Well... I knew I would be horny because the image of her face covered in my spunk was certainly arousing, but I didn’t know how she would feel seeing me after what happened... and if it was a one time thing or if we were going to make that a regular occurrence.

So before I could even test that theory I decided to save myself the potential embarrassment now and instead decided that I should just go eat and then hit the library before anything crazy happened... although I had a feeling that this world was just going to be crazy day after crazy day.

Either crazy or simply very long since each of these classes could easily take up most of my free time later those days with studying and practicing, though I guess I wouldn’t know until I actually reached those days.

Breakfast was a quiet and uneventful affair, with Kha’Miero and Sera being nowhere to be found while no one else approached me, either due to being tired or simply not being interested, which was actually rather nice.

Eating quickly but still enjoying the meal, I filled my belly and then headed off of the Mirabelle Atoma Library, the books from the day prior in my arms waiting to be returned since I had scraped what I thought I needed from them.

Really though I just didn’t want to forget that I had them and end up being late in their return to the library, which would result in those penalties that I didn’t want to accrue as well as that one that was rather ambiguous in nature.

What sort of library service was I going to have to perform and how long would it take for me to complete?

I didn’t know nor did I want to know, so I just erred on the side of caution and decided to return them today and spend a few hours here with some new books, hoping that I could further shore up my understanding of magic.

Upon entering the library I was greeted with the same older librarian as before, and just like yesterday and the day prior she gave me that warm smile as she watched me approach her desk.

"Back so soon? Returning these, I presume?"

Nodding and gently laying them all down, I replied "I was just being a bit... cautious. With classes starting tomorrow I don’t want to potentially forget to bring these back, and I think I got what I needed from them. I would like to think that I’m a good reader, but..."

Chuckling quietly as she began to slide each book over to herself and mark down which one was being returned and where they needed to go, the librarian kept her eyes down even as she said "Being a ’good’ reader doesn’t just entail quickly consuming the words on the page, dear."

"I was... passage hunting. Certain topics or events were my priority, not the books in their entirety. They are well written though, so perhaps when I have more time and less worry about the immediate future I’ll rent them again."

"You’ve been making quick progress then, haven’t you? I can feel the magic in you now, stronger than before. No longer just freshly awakened. If you were looking for more books to study, I would suggest focusing on a specific element for now and learning as much as you can.

Considering your mana seems... warm, I would guess you started with Fire? If so, there are a few storied mages who left behind their notes in the Inferno Compendium, which we have dozens of copies of thanks to its ocean of knowledge regarding all things relating to Fire Magic. It even would help you kickstart your journey into Lightning Magic if you so desire."

Carefully wrapping a thick ribbon around each book, the librarian picked up a wand from nearby and murmured something before tapping each of the ribbons, bringing them to life and watching as the books began to fly away on wings of ribbon.

The way she smiled at me as I watched that happen with a little bit of awe and a lot of fascination made me feel a tad bit stupid but also very much like a child, and it would seem she wasn’t one to judge since she said "Magic is all sorts of things, Miss Natalie, remember that. It can be a raging inferno or it can be the gentle flames in a fireplace."

I just nodded a few times and looked between her and the slowly disappearing books, unsure of what else to say after that; when she turned to look at them as well I felt some ’pressure’ slip off of my shoulders, and when she said "The Inferno Compendium is just over there, dear. Take your time, and remember, most people here are open to questions. If they aren’t, then you can come pick my old brain if you want to."

Nodding again and muttering a thank you, I awkwardly fled since I was feeling far more embarrassed than I should; just thinking that I could barely figure out how to converse with this older woman after getting railed all night long last night made me flustered, and it was a reminder of how... ’weak’ I was.

I needed a distraction, so I just fled from that conversation and took solace in the books all around since they were easier to be with than people; it wasn’t even like it was difficult to talk to her since she was just a nice older lady, and yet I just felt so... lost.

I don’t even understand it myself, but I suppose that was the whole issue with being someone who was happier alone than they were with people; I just didn’t know what to do and wasn’t really willing to learn just yet...

The librarian wasn’t lying about the amount of copies of the Inferno Compendium either, with pretty much an entire shelf being dedicated to it in an appropriately red themed section; plucking one off of the shelves and settling down in the corner chair, I opened it up and perused the table of contents, trying to figure out where to start.

It apparently contained everything I would ever need relating to Fire Magic - which she said it would, but that was just hard to believe - since there were Chapters dedicated to the basics, some more advanced techniques and theories, and then even some mastery level spells and the like.

All of them were listed in this one book, so I picked one of the basic Chapters and just flipped to it, trying to learn more from the people who had mastered magic in this world without ’cheating’ thanks to it being a game.
