Isekaied Into An Eroge, Time To Have Fun!-Chapter 119: Jacklyn
"For the Charging Crystals portion, I think we should be able to do that in maybe ten or so minutes, give or take a few minutes for monitoring the data? As for the Grading Sphere, the hope is that Professor Hollishire has one, but if she doesn’t then oh well."
The Dogkin nodded and continued jotting things down in her notebook, further fleshing out the plan and adding to the presentation as she used her own knowledge for everything; I continued to add my own thoughts as I noticed her writing everything down, giving her some more points to consider and adding even more detail to our presentation.
The library was quiet and peaceful, so while she did all of that I got a few books for myself and started combing through them, doing a little more research and adding on some more study time for myself while I waited for her to reach a stopping point.
I found some nice books on the subject of beginner magic, and brushing up on that sort of thing was nice and helpful, though I did start feeling the urge to do more for myself rather than just studying.
Experimenting and actually doing something felt like a better way to learn now than just reading words on a page, but I also was thinking that I should do my practical learning in a Dungeon instead of just at the training grounds, though that was still up for debate.
I was also trying to think up different ways to use my magic besides just as a whip or an arrow, though the issue with that was the fact that simplicity was really potent when it came to magic because it didn’t allow for that much error in the casting of the spell.
Also, whips, arrows and exploding projectiles were so easy to cast, so efficient on your mana reserve, and they were powerful enough for how little you had to do; that just made me uncertain of how innovative I needed to become, so I was willing to shelve the ideas and instead focus on the basics quite a lot more.
During my study session Jacklyn finished up what she was doing and just slid one of my books over to herself, flipping through it and doing some studying herself just to not interrupt me, something that I realized a bit late... and it made me feel a little bad.
"You could have just told me you were done, Jacklyn. I wasn’t reading anything important, just wasting some time."
The shy Dogkin just shook her head and closed the book, about to say something before she stiffened up completely, her eyes going wide beneath her bangs as she shrank in on herself, making me raise a brow as I wondered what I had done to warrant such a reaction.
Obviously a millisecond later I realized it was because of someone else and not me, so I glanced over my shoulder and noticed that three Wolfkin were prowling around the library, snickering to themselves and otherwise looking like a bunch of hooligans.
They were just radiating trouble right from the get go, and the moment they laid eyes on Jacklyn I had a bit of a bad feeling since the largest of the group suddenly grinned and began to slink on over.
Muscled and sporting a thick brown mane, the leader of this group was very clearly a dominant futanari, and to further prove that point she bared her fangs as she grinned and lazily flopped down into the chair beside me, giving me a look over before turning her amber eyes towards Jacklyn.
"What do we have here~? Ain’t you that cutie from the other day? The one who kept runnin’ away from me... What was your name again? Jacklyn, right?"
The sickly sweet tinge to her voice made my skin crawl, and the mischievousness in her eyes as she looked Jacklyn over was definitely a sign of the trouble she wanted to get into, yet at the same time she wasn’t being... horrible, just yet anyways.
"You were carrying all them books, almost tripped over yourself tryna get out of my way... Told ya you didn’t have to worry, woulda moved out the way myself, but you just didn’t wanna listen... Kinda hurt my feelings, y’know? I ain’t that scary, right?"
She looked towards her two friends and immediately got a chorus of no’s and definitely nots, causing her to smirk as she basked in their swiftness to please her, though her eyes immediately returned to Jacklyn.
"Whatcha doing here? Studying? Some classwork? Lemme see, maybe I can help..."
Before she could get an answer she just took Jacklyn’s notebook and started skimming over it, nodding to herself a few times before tossing it back on the table; when she said "You know you could just get a blank Mana Crystal down at the market for like... a couple Diadems and use them to measure capacity, right? Not terribly accurate but not as complicated as this." I was quite surprised, though if she got into the Academy she did need to have something in that head of hers.
’Sadly’ she seemed to just be using most of that to redirect energy to her dick since she licked her lips and immediately added "Why don’t you come on down there with me, Jacklyn~? I’ll show you where the Mana Crystals are... we can grab a bite to eat too...", her eagerness to get Jacklyn alone with her frightening the Dogkin.
"Thank you for that suggestion, but we-"
"Did I ask you, Human? I’m talking to Jacklyn here."
The immediate and sharp retort made me flinch, and just in case I wasn’t getting the message she bared her fangs at me and let out a low growl before turning back to Jacklyn, who she smiled at and immediately apologized for being so ’unbecoming’.
The looming presence of her two friends being right behind me was definitely not reassuring, but seeing Jacklyn writhe around on the chair not looking at anyone was even more telling to me, so I decided I needed to act first and talk later.
Getting up and going to put the books away, I noticed immediately how the two other Wolves were quick to grin at me before turning back to Jacklyn while the large Wolfkin never even looked my way.
Jacklyn did though, and the fear in her eyes was palpable, causing my heart to clench a little as I realized she thought I was abandoning her; really I was just getting the space I needed, because the moment she was getting pestered again by the big Wolfkin I raced around the edge of the table, grabbed the smaller Dogkin and began to run away.
Dragging her behind me and rushing through the library, I ran as fast as I could towards the desk that Professor Maryanne was at, shooting a pleading gaze at the older woman before departing from the library.
The small nod she gave me before she turned and ’calmly’ asked the Wolves why they were running in her library gave me the time I needed to put a lot of distance between us and them, and I was also very aware that I needed populated areas or a Professor to keep us safe.
My heart was racing alongside me as I bolted for Professor Hollishire’s room, going for the closest place I could think of and being somewhat relieved that it was somewhere we needed to be anyways.
I could hear them a long ways behind me, but at the same time there was a lot of hallway between us and them; a hallway filled with students heading to their dorms and some heading to their first classes of the night, so there were ’obstacles’ for them to deal with.
A few were giving us curious looks, but most were ignoring us completely as they just went where they needed to, making it easy for me to get us to Professor Hollishire’s classroom where I immediately knocked on the door.
It opened a moment later, and the olive skinned beauty raised a brow as she saw both Jacklyn and I panting right in front of her, though she beckoned for us to enter without another word, closing the door behind her and locking it.
"Let me guess, someone got a little too ’excited’ and wouldn’t take no for an answer?"
The dryness in her voice seemed to be coming from experience, causing me to smile wryly even as I dragged in deep breaths to try and calm myself down; I wasn’t scared per se, but I was definitely not alright with what just happened.
When I was able to I told her what happened and got another nod in response, before she gestured for us to sit while she went back to her desk, looking over the papers and resuming whatever it was she had been doing before.
"Take as much time as you need, and if you want you can take the back entrance out. Let’s just not try to make this a regular thing, hm?"
